Regular Season Week 17

Happy New Year’s Eve and happy last day of the regular season! You may have noticed that again, there wasn’t any football on Thursday night nor will there be football Sunday night or Monday night. All the games this week will be played at either 1pm or 4:25pm this afternoon.  This week will also be the first week I can actually just enjoy the game without fantasy football implications. You may be wondering; did she win her last game? Was she crowned fantasy football champion of 2017? The answer, YOU BET I DID!!!!  I’m not going to lie, it was a roller-coaster of a season. My hospital stay started a downward spiral of three straight losses but I clawed my way back, was the lowest seed to even get into the playoffs, and went on to win the Championship. I’d like to thank the rest of the league for the good times, especially my cousin J, who was the commissioner. I’ve never been in a league with a pay-in so it was more stressful but a lot nicer to win. Not only did I finish strong in my fantasy football leagues, I also went 13-3 on my picks last week.

 Let’s recap week sixteen

Colts @ Ravens 16-23
The Ravens won and more importantly Justin Tucker, Baltimore’s kicker put up some points for me as well.

Vikings @ Packers 16-0
Without A-aron the Packers laid a goose egg.

Bills @ Patriots 16-37
This game was close, until the third quarter. Also, that was totally a Bills touchdown catch, and the catch rules are garbage.

Buccaneers @ Panthers 19-22
Cam was my starting QB and with his performance in this game I thought I was sure to lose. I almost lost it when he dropped the snap but then picked it up and ran in for a touchdown at the end of the game. On the other side of the ball, I was hoping Mike Evans, as one of my WRs, would have caught at least one TD, but he did have over 100 yards so that wasn’t too bad.

Browns @ Bears 3-20
If the Browns were ever going to win a game this season, this was the one it would have been, but it wasn’t.

Lions @ Bengals 17-26
So, the Lions just had to win this game to have a shot at the playoffs…. Yeah, of course they screwed it up. I should’ve known not to pick them for the win.

Rams @ Titans 27-23
The Titans put up a fight but it wasn’t enough to stop Todd Gurley and the Rams. PS, Gurley was the reason I sat the Titans’ defense.

Dolphins @ Chiefs 13-29
Chiefs WR Hill was also one of my wide receivers and even though he didn’t have any touchdowns he also had over 100 yards, which helped me, and the Chiefs, win the game.

Falcons @ Saints 13-23
I knew the Saints would beat the Falcons, but I didn’t think their defense would play as well as they did. I was almost kicking myself for benching the Saints’ defense, but then they allowed the Falcons to score so I felt better. I was particularly happy with Mark Ingram for scoring a touchdown, as he was one of my starting RBs.

Chargers @ Jets 14-7
At least this wasn’t a shocking win for anyone.

Broncos @ Redskins 11-27
Picture this, it was my championship game week and I didn’t like the 3 defenses on my fantasy team. So, I picked up the Redskins…. AND THEY DOMINATED THE BRONCOS! They had the highest score out of any of my defenses; I guess it was a good pick up. Thanks Washington!

Jaguars @ 49ers 33-44
The Jags had one of the best defenses coming into this game and my opponent had Garoppolo as their QB so I thought this would be a cakewalk for me. Nope. Garoppolo and the 49ers walked all over the Jags defense and my fantasy championship was slipping …

Seahawks @ Cowboys 21-12
This game was SHOCKING! Both teams needed to win this game in order to have any hopes of a playoff run. I was sure the Seahawks were finished from their performance last week, and the Cowboys were on the up and up getting Zeek back. Boy was I wrong. Bye bye Cowboys.

NY Giants @ Cardinals 0-23
As a Giants fan, this game was just depressing, even more so being that I had Sterling Shepard starting on my fantasy team. He only had 5 receptions for 45 yards… The Giants have truly broken my heart this season.

Steelers @ Texans 34-6
I was down 3 points heading into this game with one player remaining, Le’Veon Bell. He didn’t have a game like projected but it was enough to give me the lead. I was not happy when the Steelers sat their starters in the fourth quarter but at least Bell had a touchdown before they sat him.

Raiders @ Eagles 10-19
All of my players had finished playing and my opponent had one player left, Eagles kicker, Jake Elliott. If you are a Giants fan, you will remember early in the season Jake kicking a 61- yard field goal to beat the Giants as time expired. The Eagles had a very good possibility of ruining my night again late in the season. They could have run up the score by kicking a lot of field goals. So when Elliott, who is super accurate, missed a field goal, I was ecstatic. I looked around the room and screamed in disbelief, “Did you see that? He missed!” I had won my first paid fantasy league.

WEEK 17

Sunday, December 31st

Redskins (7-8) @ Giants (2-13) [1pm FOX]
This will be the Redskins and the Giants last game of the season, thank God. I’m just hoping that this isn’t Eli’s last game as a Giant. I don’t expect the Giants to win, and I’m not going to pick them to win, but I will root for them, cheer for them, and scream at them until the end of the game. GO GMEN!!!!!!! Next year will be better, I mean, it can’t get worse than this year. NY has hired a new GM, Dave Gettleman, and he is already starting to clean house. He has also hinted that Manning and OBJ will return for 2018. PS, I am so glad this is the last game of the season; it’ll be nice to not have to see the Giants lose again until next season…

Packers (7-8) @ Lions (8-7) [1pm FOX]
This will also be the Packers and the Lions last game of the season. Every time I pick the Lions to win, they lose, so I’m going to pick the Packers to lose. See what I did there?

Texans (4-11) @ Colts (3-12) [1pm CBS]
There are obviously no playoff implications in this game, just playing for pride. I’m picking the Colts to win.

Bears (5-10) @ Vikings (12-3) [1pm FOX]
The Vikings can clinch a first round bye with a win OR a Panthers loss OR a Saints win OR a Rams win. The Bears will be playing their last game of the season. I’m still picking the Vikings to win.

Jets (5-10) @ Patriots (12-3) [1pm CBS]
The Pats can clinch home field advantage with a win OR a Steelers loss. I’m picking the Pats to win.

Cowboys (8-7) @ Eagles (13-2)  [1pm FOX]
The Eagles will probably rest a lot of their players being that they already clinched home field advantage last week. That being said, I’m still picking the Eagles to win this game.

Browns (0-15) @ Steelers (12-3) [1pm CBS]
The Steelers can clinch home field advantage with a win and a Pats loss. Big Ben, and Bell will not be playing this game. I’m so glad that my fantasy championship was last week! I’m going to pick the Steelers to win but no home field advantage for them.

Chiefs (9-6) @ Broncos (5-10) [4:25pm CBS]
The Chiefs have already made it into the playoffs and will rest most of their starters including Alex Smith, their starting QB. You’ll get to see Patrick Mahomes under center and quite possibly a Broncos win, though I’m picking the Chiefs to win.

Jaguars (10-5) @ Titans (8-7) [4:25pm CBS]
The Titans can clinch a playoff berth with a win OR Bills loss and Chargers loss. All that being said, I’m picking the Jags to win.

49ers (5-10) @ Rams (11-4) [4:25pm FOX]
The Rams have already made the playoffs so this game means little to them. They will probably rest their starters so I’m going to pick the 49ers to win this game.

Raiders (6-9) @ Chargers (8-7) [4:25pm CBS]
The Chargers can clinch a playoff berth with a win plus a Titans loss plus a Ravens win OR Bills loss.  I’m picking the Chargers to win. In other news the Raiders are reaching out to Jon Gruden for a potential coaching position… I’d rather see Gruden go to the Giants if he does get back into coaching.

Cardinals (7-8) @ Seahawks (9-6) [4:25pm FOX]
The Seahawks can clinch a playoff berth with a win and a Falcons loss. I’m picking the Seahawks to win.  Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians will probably step down from coaching after this game.

Panthers (11-4) @ Falcons (9-6) [4:25pm FOX]
The Falcons can clinch a playoff berth with a win OR Seattle loss. The Panthers can clinch the NFC South with a win and a Saints loss. I’m picking the Panthers to win.

Bills (8-7) @ Dolphins (6-9) [4:25pm CBS]
The Bills can clinch a playoff berth with a win plus a Baltimore loss OR a win plus a Chargers loss plus a Titans loss… So you’re telling me there’s a chance. What the heck, I’m going to pick the Bills to win.

Saints (11-4) @ Buccaneers (4-11) [4:25pm FOX]
The Saints can clinch the NFC South with a win OR a Panthers loss. I’m picking the Saints to win.

Bengals (6-9) @ Ravens (9-6) [4:25pm CBS]
The Ravens can clinch a playoff berth with a win OR a Bills loss OR a Titans loss. I’m picking the Ravens to win.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!!!!!
