Regular Season Week 16
Happy holidays everyone! Whatever you celebrate, may you have a happy and healthy time celebrating!
We’ll have football games Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night for week 16. Weather is going to be a real factor in the weekend games if they are played outside. Temps are expected to get down to the 20s in the south!
Congratulations to Argentina for winning the World Cup!
I went 14-2 in picks last week and am now in the loser bracket of fantasy football playoffs. I’ll be so happy when that season is over.
Guys, the Giants won this past week so I am super stoked once again and excited to talk football with you all.
Let’s recap week 15 before we move onto week 16 where the majority of the games will be played on Saturday.
49ers @ Seahawks 21-13
The 49ers won the game with their banged up 3rd string quarterback, Brock Purdy and their incredible defense. The San Francisco defense didn’t allow a touchdown until the 4th quarter and by that time it was too late for the Seahawks. Geno Smith was sacked three times and hit nine times. His wide receivers also took a beating. Tyler Lockett suffered a broken bone in his hand late in the game.
Colts @ Vikings 36-39 OT
The Vikings were shut out in the first half. The score was 33-0. Kirk Cousins had negative fantasy points. I was mad that Dalvin Cook wasn’t performing, I was mad that Jeff Saturday would be hailed as an amazing interim head coach without any formal training opening a flood gate of nonsense, and I was mad that I was going to get the pick wrong. Then the second half started and the Vikings completed the largest comeback in NFL history and in doing so also clinched the NFC North. On the other side of the ball Matt Ryan is now on the losing end of both the largest comeback in Super Bowl history and the largest comeback in NFL history.
Ravens @ Browns 3-13
The Browns are definitely the Ravens kryptonite. In other news Deshawn Watson got his first win with the Browns.
Dolphins @ Bills 29-32
For the 4th straight season the Bills clinched a playoff berth. This time with a win over the Dolphins. Clearly, it was “Tua cold” for Miami and the rest of the Dolphins. Buffalo had 8” of snow prior to the game so the stadium was perfect for making snowballs. The officials had to stop the game at one point to tell the fans to stop throwing snowballs otherwise the Bills would be penalized 15 yards. This didn’t really stop the snowballs from flying. The snow really started coming down in the fourth quarter and it was then that the Bills ran away with the win and the fans started singing Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Eagles @ Bears 25-20
It was extremely unlikely the Bears would win this game, but they made it so close! It was an exciting game to watch and it would’ve been better had Justin Fields not touched a toe out of bounds and had his long rushing touchdown called back. Fields actually had a great day, he had no interceptions while Jalen Hurts threw two. Also, Hurts hurt his shoulder in this win and is questionable moving forward.
Falcons @ Saints 18-21
Ugh. I’m so sick of Kamara under performing! Also who the heck is this Juwan Johnson guy and why is he taking all the touchdowns from Kamara this year. I guess I should be happy that I got this pick correct. Note to self: Do not draft Alvin Kamara in fantasy next season.
Lions @ Jets 20-17
I just knew that the Lions were going to win this game and I love being right! With this win the Lions and the Jets have the same record. Rewind 7 weeks and their records were vastly different and I would’ve picked the Jets to win. The Lions were 1-7 going into week 9 while the Jets were 5-3. The Lions have definitely turned around their season, the Jets, not so much.
Steelers @ Panthers 24-16
Ummmmm. What happened to Pat Freiermuth? He finished the day in fantasy with 0.0 points. That hurt me, but it didn’t seem to hurt the Steelers any. Of course D.J. Moore, on my bench, had a touchdown for Carolina after he had zero catches last week. It’s a good possibility that if I had started Moore, and Freiermuth wasn’t in witness protection this week, I would’ve won in fantasy… I mean I only lost by 20 points. Ugh!
Cowboys @ Jaguars 34-40 OT
The Jags upset the Cowboys!!!!!!!! It was amazing. Yes, it took overtime but that doesn’t matter. Anytime the Cowboys lose it’s a good day for Giants fans. I mean, we did help them to clinch a spot in the playoffs with our win, but they still lost and that gives me great joy.
Chiefs @ Texans 30-24 OT
This was almost a trap game. Yikes! The Chiefs pulled off the win but it was too close for comfort. It really shouldn't have taken overtime to do it, but the Chiefs were not playing well.. They were lucky that they got the win at all.
Cardinals @ Broncos 15-24
The Cardinals are so lost without Kyler Murray. It’s amazing how one person can affect an entire team. The Broncos defense stepped up and got the win for Denver with help from backup quarterback Brett Rypien. It was the Broncos first win since October.
Patriots @ Raiders 24-30
Oh my god, this game. Well, the ending anyway. Tied with just seconds left in the game, the Patriots had a chance to send it into overtime. But then, for some reason Jakobi Myers thought it best to attempt a lateral with no time remaining and Chandler Jones intercepted the ball, steam rolled over Mac Jones, and took it into the endzone to end the game. Hindsight is always 20/20 and the Pats should've just let the game go into overtime.
Titans @ Chargers 14-17
This game was one of the least exciting games on Sunday. It was sloppy, neither quarterback threw a touchdown pass but both had interceptions. It was a run-heavy game where both Derrick Henry and Austin Ekler were the obvious playmakers.
Bengals @ Buccaneers 34-23
The Bucs were up 17-0 at one point and 17-3 going into the half. The Bengals made some adjustments at the half and never looked back. Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes in the second half to take the lead and beat the Bucs. It’s safe to say that Tom Brady was not happy after his 8th loss of the season, which is the most losses he’s ever had in a season. Also, Tom Brady’s record when up 17 points was 89-0 in his career. Now he’s 89-1.
NY Giants @ Commanders 20-12
G-MEN!!!! Danny Jones has finally won a primetime game, the first of his NFL career, and he did it without turning the ball over! Saquon Barkley also had a great second half finishing the game with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown. I made sure to have all my working out done so I could focus on the game. I wore my favorite Giants t-shirt, my favorite Giants pants, I even wore my favorite lucky unmentionables and I had my knitting needles ready. The game started off slow but as time went by the intensity heightened. Rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux was a beast on defense. He forced a Taylor Heinicke fumble, which he recovered and rushed in for a touchdown, as well as three tackles for losses. There were a couple of questionable calls in the last minutes of the game, but I still think the Giants would’ve won the game. Honestly, the officiating has been garbage this season as a whole so I am not surprised, just glad that the calls went the Giants way for the first time in what seemed like forever.
Rams @ Packers 12-24
I’m going to be honest. I didn’t really watch this game, like at all. I decided that I would make cookies instead. They were delicious. Chocolate brownie cookies with peppermint bark. This game was boring and not even the Manningcast made me want to watch it.
WEEK 15
Thursday, December 23rd
Jaguars (6-8) @ Jets (7-7) (8:15pm Prime Video)
I guess I’ll pick the Jets to win, only because they are the home team. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was wrong though.
Saturday, December 24th
Bills (11-3) @ Bears (3-11) (1pm CBS)
It’s supposed to be a balmy 14 degrees when this game starts Saturday afternoon. I think the Bears will play hard but the Bills will get the win.
Saints (5-9) @ Browns (6-8) (1pm CBS)
It is supposed to be even colder in Cleveland; 10 degrees at the start of this game. I am picking the Browns to win this game and I would be SHOCKED if Alvin Kamara gets into the endzone.
Texans (1-12-1) @ Titans (7-7) (1pm CBS)
17 degrees at the start of this game. I’m picking the Titans to win and am predicting it to be a run heavy Derrick Henry game. Sorry fantasy managers who are playing against Henry this week.
Seahawks (7-7) @ Chiefs (11-3) (1pm FOX)
It’ll be 11 degrees at the start of this game. Burrr. I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game.
NY Giants (8-5-1) @ Vikings (11-3) (1pm FOX)
It’s supposed to be 2 degrees at the start of this game, but the Vikings have an indoor stadium so the weather shouldn’t be a factor. The Vikings already have a spot in the playoffs so hopefully they will rest some of their players. The Giants could punch their ticket into the playoffs with a win, Washington loss, and a Seahawks or Lions loss.
Fingers crossed. I’m picking the Giants to win as an early Christmas present to me and all the Giants fans! Go G-Men!!!!
Bengals (10-4) @ Patriots (7-7) (1pm CBS)
It’ll be 19 degrees at the start of this game. Both teams play pretty well in the cold. I am picking the Bengals to win this game.
Lions (7-7) @ Panthers (5-9) (1pm FOX)
It’s supposed to be 28 degrees in Charlotte, North Carolina at the start of this game. For Charlotte, that’s super cold. I think both teams will struggle but I think that the Lions will come out on top.
Falcons (5-9) @ Ravens (9-5) (1pm FOX)
It’ll be 20 degrees in Baltimore. The Falcons aren’t playing well, no matter the temperature. I’m picking the Ravens to win this game.
Commanders (7-6-1) @ 49ers (10-4) (4:05pm CBS)
Weather shouldn’t be a factor in this game. It’ll be a warm 58 degrees in Santa Clara. I’m picking the 49ers to win this game and I’m hoping I’m not wrong.
Eagles (13-1) @ Cowboys (10-4) (4:25pm FOX)
It’s going to be cold in Arlington but Jerry World is a dome so weather shouldn’t be a problem. The big problem for the Eagles is their star quarterback will not start because of a shoulder injury. Gardner Minshew will get the start for the Eagles. Philadelphia only needs one more win to secure the first round bye in the playoffs. I’d like the Eagles to get the win before they play the Giants in the last game of the season. All that being said I think that the Eagles defense is better than the Cowboys so I am going to pick the Eagles to sweep the Cowboys this season.
Raiders (6-8) @ Steelers (6-8) (8:15pm NFLN)
It’s going to be about 11 degrees at the start of this game and it’s just going to get colder. I’m picking the Steelers to win, as they know how to play in cold weather. The Raiders, not so much.
Sunday, December 25th
Packers (6-8) @ Dolphins (8-6) (1pm FOX)
The Packers are technically alive in the playoff hunt but they need to win this game to keep hopes alive. I think that the Dolphins are going to crush that hope and win this game for Miami.
Broncos (4-10) @ Rams (4-10) (4:30pm CBS)
Temperature won’t be a problem for this domed stadium. Both teams have the same record but the Broncos have the better defense. I’m hoping that Russell Wilson will get a win on Christmas day, so I am picking the Broncos to win.
Buccaneers (6-8) @ Cardinals (4-10) (8:20pm NBC)
There won’t be a weather factor at this game either. I’m picking the Bucs to win.
Monday, December 26th
Chargers (8-6) @ Colts (4-9-1) (8:15pm ESPN/ABC)
I don’t think the Colts are going to win any more games this season. With Jonathon Taylor out and them probably benching Matt Ryan, their season is pretty much over. I’m picking the Chargers to win this game.
GO G-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
