Regular Season Week 9
Week 8 has been, by far, the most frustrating. I lost in fantasy, the Giants lost, though my picks were ok, 9-6. I scored over 150 points in fantasy and still lost by 23. Ugh. Let’s just say Sunday ended up being a baking day because knitting wasn’t cutting it.
Week 9 isn’t looking much better for me in the fantasy world. There are 6 teams on bye. Thankfully one of the teams is the Giants so they can’t break my heart this week. The other teams on bye for week 9 are the: Browns, Steelers, Broncos, Cowboys, and 49ers
The trade deadline came and went but I feel like I reported the biggest trades last week. The only big trade this week in my opinion, was Bradley Chubb once a Bronco and now a Dolphin. Fun fact, I picked up the Miami defense this week. I hope Chubb can help them!
Ravens @ Buccaneers 27-22
It probably comes as no surprise that the Bucs lost this game. It’s time to come to grips with the situation and just know that the Bucs are not good this year, they’re bad, real bad. It must suck to be Tom Brady right now. I mean, yes he has millions of dollars, but he’s really terrible for the first time in his career. The last time he lost 3 games in a row was 20 years ago. On top of this loss the next day his marriage was officially over and divorce final. Maybe now he can get back to playing football?
Broncos @ Jaguars 21-17
Well, I got this pick wrong because the Broncos actually found a way to win. It took a trip across the pond but they finally got it done. It was Latavius Murray who scored the last touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the Broncos the lead and win. Fun fact: This game was not the first game this season where Murray scored a touchdown in London. He also had a touchdown earlier this month when he played for the Saints.
Panthers @ Falcons 34-37
The winner of this game would also be number one in their division. D.J. Moore had cause for celebration after he caught a touchdown pass that would seal the win with an extra point. But Moore chose to celebrate by taking off his helmet on the field after his touchdown and drew a penalty. This penalty made the extra point 15 yards further away and Carolina’s kicker, Eddy Pineiro, missed the extra point, sending the game into overtime. Both Moore and Pineiro were visibly upset that they now needed overtime to potentially secure a win. That win never came as Pineiro had another chance to win the game in overtime only to miss again. Atlanta’s kicker Younghoe Koo was able to get it done with a 41-yard field goal to end overtime and the game.
Bears @ Cowboys 29-49
Holy high scoring batman! The one day I actually wanted to see Ezekiel Elliott play, he was sidelined and his back up Tony Pollard became the starter. Of course my opponent started Pollard who had 131 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. I should’ve known right then and there that I was going to lose in fantasy. Stupid Cowboys. Stupid fantasy football.
Dolphins @ Lions 31-27
I really thought that the Lions were going to come through and actually win the game. But instead, the fantasy football gods decided my opponent needed more points and Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle went off for 8 receptions, 106 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Son of a bee sting!
Cardinals @ Vikings 26-34
The Vikings made a statement coming off their bye week. Kirk Cousins had one of his best games with the Vikings with 3 total touchdowns. Kylar Murray also had 3 touchdowns for the Cards but also was picked off twice. I was happy that Dalvin Cook had over 110 yards and a touchdown on the day but I was hoping for more.
Raiders @ Saints 0-24
Kamara finally got his first touchdown of the season! And then he got another, and then he got another! Like Pollard, Kamara had 3 total touchdowns and 42.8 fantasy points. Things were finally looking good for me in the fantasy world. Also, it was nice to see the Raiders get shut out.
Patriots @ NY Jets 22-17
I think this was the first time this season that I picked the Jets to win. What was I thinking? It seems that Bill Belicheck really does know what he’s doing and his coaching days are not over. Fantasy implications for this game? Oh yes, my opponent had the Pats defense and they had 3 interceptions. Cool.
Steelers @ Eagles 13-35
I’m sick of the Eagles winning but I am even more sick of starting Devonta Smith in fantasy and him not doing ANYTHING to get me any points. I’m pretty sure that if my opponent had Devonta Smith, Smith would’ve put up A.J. Brown points. Speaking of Brown, he had 6 receptions for 156 yards, 3 touchdowns and 39.6 points in fantasy on this rout of the Steelers. Also, after his stellar performance he was selected for a “random” drug test Monday morning. Isn’t it ironic? Don’t you think?
Titans @ Texans 17-10
This is starting to get old… You guessed it, my opponent had Derrick Henry too. And that guy went off! Henry ran for 219 yards, had two touchdowns, and 35.8 points in fantasy. Ridiculous. Full disclosure, my opponent this week previously proposed a trade for Henry and Courtland Sutton for Devonta Smith and Saquon Barkley. I’m almost kicking myself for declining the trade. I just couldn’t give up Saquon. But I really miss King Henry this season.
Commanders @ Colts 17-16
This was actually a pretty evenly matched game and if Indy could’ve actually gotten into the endzone more than once they would’ve won this game. Also, what happened to Jonathan Taylor? Did you know that he hasn’t rushed for over 100 yards or scored a touchdown since Week 1. Crazy.
49ers @ Rams 31-14
Guys! Did you know that Christian McCaffrey is now a 49er?!? I mean, I did report on it last week but he really made a statement during this game. McCaffrey had a passing, receiving, and rushing touchdown in this ridiculous win over the Rams.
NY Giants @ Seahawks 13-27
I have so much I want to say about this game. But it makes me so angry and frustrated I don’t know if I can articulate all of it. First of all, I never expected the Giants to be good this season. I thought they would only have 4 wins the entire year. Well, then they just kept winning and I got used to it. So I saw this game and I thought, we can totally win again. I wasn’t even concerned that we were down in the fourth quarter because we’ve always come back to win in the end. Then it all fell apart. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t watch the last 5 minutes. I knew it was over. I don’t like losing, I don’t like when my team loses. Some time passed and I got an alert on my phone, “Geno Smith dedicated victory over former team to ex-Giants coach Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese: ‘They believed in me.’” My jaw dropped. Is this a joke? I lost it. Expletives flew out of my mouth. Geno, if they really, actually, believed in you, you would’ve started more than just ONE game for the Giants. They didn’t believe in you, you were a pawn in McA-don’t-s scheme to upset Eli Manning's consecutive start streak. I feel sorry for you, they didn’t believe in you, but Seattle does.
Packers @ Bills 17-27
I didn’t get to see Aaron Rodgers cry but it was nice to see him lose and see the Bills win. Josh Allen used to struggle in prime time but he’s definitely taken that hurdle in stride and is now killing it, every game.
Bengals @ Browns 13-32
This was a statement game for the Browns. Both teams started slow with no points scored in the first quarter but then it was Nick Chubb time. Chubb had 2 touchdowns in this win and the Browns defense didn’t let anyone score until the fourth quarter and by then it was too late for the Bengals. The Manningcast was back and because it was Halloween, Peyton and Eli had costumes. Peyton was a ref and Eli was Chad Powers. Eli’s mask was alarmingly scary and he only wore it briefly because he was hot and uncomfortable in it. Their guests were Boomer Esiason, Travis and Jason Kelce, and Brad Paisley. Boomer wasn’t entertaining, but the Kelce brothers dressed up in quarter zips to look like the Manning brothers and Brad Paisley was actually decently funny. Good entertainment for the second half of the game.
WEEK 9
Thursday, November 3rd
Eagles (6-0) @ Texans (1-4-1) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)
I’m picking the Eagles and I’m not happy about it.
Sunday, November 6th
Chargers (4-3) @ Falcons (3-4) (1pm FOX)
Well, I picked up Marcus Mariota, so I don’t have to start Tom Brady, which I guess means I’m going to have to pick the Falcons to win this game.
Dolphins (4-3) @ Bears (3-4) (1pm CBS)
I also picked up the Dolphins defense this week so I’m going to have to pick the Dolphins to win this game too.
Panthers (2-5) @ Bengals (4-3) (1pm FOX)
I don’t think that the Bengals will lose two in a row. I am picking the Bengals to win but I need it to be a high scoring game because I’m starting D.J. Moore. I’m going to lose again in fantasy but I’m still going to cheer for my guys.
Packers (3-4) @ Lions (1-5) (1pm FOX)
The Packers have lost their last 4 games. I think they’ll get their groove back in Detroit. But if they don’t, that would be amazing. Detroit did fire one of their defensive coaches because the Lions can put up a lot of points but can’t win games. So it really wouldn’t surprise me if Green Bay did lose, though that being said, I’m picking the Packers to win.
Colts (3-3-1) @ Patriots (3-4) (1pm CBS)
I’m picking the Patriots to win. I’m not sure why, but I am.
Bills (5-1) @ Jets (5-2) (1pm CBS)
I think that the Jets are going to give the Bills a hard time and make a game out of it. But I am picking the Bills to win.
Vikings (5-1) @ Commanders (3-4) (1pm FOX)
On paper and on the field the Vikings are the better team. Therefore, I’m picking the Vikings to win.
Raiders (2-4) @ Jaguars (2-5) (1pm CBS)
The Raiders got shut out last week but the Jags didn’t win a single game in October. I think the Jags need it more. I’m picking the Jags to win.
Seahawks (4-3) @ Cardinals (3-4) (4:05pm FOX)
It’s time for Seattle to get knocked down a rung or two. I’m still not over last week’s game. I’m picking the Cardinals to win.
Rams (3-4) @ Buccaneers (3-5) (4:25pm CBS)
I’m picking the Bucs to win but I don’t think it’s worth me starting Tom Brady. Though I haven’t really decided yet. The Rams are super beat up, Cooper Kupp isn’t 100%, but the Bucs are just terrible. Ugh.
Titans (4-2) @ Chiefs (5-2) (8:20pm NBC)
I’m picking the Chiefs to win. I just hope it’s a good game and that JuJu gets at least 3 touchdowns.
Monday, November 7th
Ravens (5-3) @ Saints (2-5) (8:15pm ESPN/ABC)
I’d love to see the Saints win this game but I don’t think it’s likely. I’m picking the Ravens for the win. Peyton Manning is really hoping that Justin Tucker will be a guest on the Manningcast during the game. I think that’s enough reason to watch the Manningcast.
