Regular Season Week 14
I don’t think that 13 is unlucky since I was born on the 13th of December. This 13th week of the regular season, while the Giants didn’t win, I won in fantasy, am back in first place in my league, almost everyone in my starting lineup had a touchdown, and I went 8-6 on my picks.
Week 14 starts the fantasy football playoffs and it’s my birthday weekend!!!!
Here’s the recap of week 13.
Cowboys @ Saints 27-17
The Cowboys did just fine without head coach Mike Mcarthy. Dan Quinn, defensive coordinator, was the interim head coach while Mcarthy was out with covid. And let me tell you, the Cowboys defense stepped up, picking off Taysom Hill 4 times. It just wasn’t a good day for the Saints, who were without Alvin Kamara for another week.
Buccaneers @ Falcons 30-17
Leonard Fournette got the first touchdown for the Bucs (Woot!) and then it was the Brady - Gronk show. Gronk had 2 of Brady’s 4 total passing touchdowns. This was an easy pick to get correct.
Cardinals @ Bears 33-22
I’m so glad Kyler Murray is back. I started two Cardinals this week and they both had touchdowns. Murray had four total touchdowns and James Conner had 1 receiving touchdown.
Chargers @ Bengals 41-22
“I think the Chargers peaked a long time ago.” Is what I said last week. Clearly, I was wrong and they heard me. The Bengals looked like garbage and the Chargers put a hurting on the kitty cats. The Chargers defense picked off Joe Burrow twice, sacked him 6 times and caused him to fumble once. The Chargers offense was on fire. Keenan Allen had two receiving touchdowns from Burrow and then Burrow had a receiving touchdown from Allen. It was fun to watch.
Vikings @ Lions 27-29
THE LIONS WON!!!!!! And it was a divisional win, on the last play of the game. Jared Goff dropped back, looked left and let the football fly into the hands of Amon-Ra St. Brown who squeezed it tight as he went into the end zone. The players went crazy, the bench charged the endzone and the fans went wild. It was a great nailbiter of a game to watch. Detroit actually led for most of the game. The Vikings, of course, came back and got it too close for comfort, but the Lions prevailed in the end.
Colts @ Texans 31-0
I dropped the Texans defense and picked up the Colts defense for this game and that was a fantastic pickup! The Colts shut out the Texans, and that’s about as much as you can ask of a defense. I’m not surprised I got this pick correct.
NY Giants @ Dolphins 9-20
This game sucked. I got the pick right only because Danny didn’t start. Kenny Golladay went out with a rib injury before getting me a touchdown in fantasy, and it was just horrible to watch. The only good thing going for the Giants in Saquon Barkley. Dave Gettleman should be fired, Joe Judge should be fired, and everyone one but Barkley should be traded away. Let’s start over. Ugh.
Eagles @ Jets 33-18
The Jets started off well enough but it was the Gardner Minshew led Eagles that got the victory. Right before the game it looked like Minshew was coming from a Top Gun reunion audition. Google it. I wasn’t happy that the Eagles won but it was entertaining watching Minshew.
Washington @ Raiders 17-15
Supid Raiders, they always let me down. I knew I shouldn't have started Darren Waller’s backup, Foster Moreau. I should’ve started the Washington tight end instead. Not to sound winey but, Foster Moreau was one of the only guys in my starting lineup that didn’t score a touchdown. Had I started Logan Thomas I would’ve at least gotten a touchdown out of him before he was injured. Oh well, I got this pick wrong and my tight end sucked in fantasy.
Jaguars @ Rams 7-37
Let me just tell you how amazing my partner is. He suggested that I drop Mecole Hardman and pick up Sony Michel. So I did. I went Ram heavy in my starting lineup and it paid off big time. Michel, OBJ, and Kupp all scored touchdowns for me. I killed it in fantasy. In other news, the Rams finally looked good again.
Ravens @ Steelers 19-20
I think it's a little funny that Lamar Jackson said his sloppy playing was over and he was going to turn over a new leaf and play better than last week. Well, I guess he did, kinda. He only had one interception this week. But, he threw the game winning two point conversion way over the head of Mark Andrews and ended up losing the game because of it. In other news, before the game, Big Ben said he wouldn’t be playing for the Steelers next season. Gotta love all the drama. I feel like he’s said this every year for the past 5 years.
49ers @ Seahawks 23-30
Of course the first time I pick against the Seahawks they actually rally, and win. Oh well.
Broncos @ Chiefs 9-22
The Chiefs are back! The defense stepped up, and the offensive line protected Patrick Mahomes much better than previous games. Mahomes didn’t have any passing touchdowns but he did have a rushing touchdown. Harrison Butker had 3 field goals and Daniel Sorensen had a 75yd pick six in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Chiefs.
Patriots @ Bills 14-10
The weather was the biggest part of the game with snow, 40mph winds, and temps well below freezing. Mac Jones completed just 2 out of 3 pass attempts for 19 total yards and the Patriots ran all over the Bills to win the game. Once again, the Manning Cast is what saved this game. This week’s guests were David Letterman, Akib Talib, and Joe Buck. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to the last guest. But what I realised was, Joe Buck actually has a personality, when he’s not calling a game. If he was more like the guest on the Manning cast than he is on Fox, I might not dislike him so much. He even made me laugh, more than once.
WEEK 14
Thursday, December 9th
Steelers (6-5-1) @ Vikings (5-7) (8:20pm FOX/NFLN)
I am going to pick the Vikings to win this game, only because they are the home team. I wouldn’t be surprised if I got this pick wrong. I feel like the picks are a lot harder for me this season, who knows why?
Sunday, December 12th
Falcons (5-7) @ Panthers (5-7) (1pm FOX)
The Panthers should be able to get back on track with a win over this division rival. Like the Vikings, I’m picking the Panthers to win only because they are the home team, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I got this pick wrong too.
Ravens (8-4) @ Browns (6-6) (1pm CBS)
It really depends on what version of these two teams shows up. Lamar Jackson has really been struggling as of late and the Browns are really beat up this far into the season. I think I’m going to pick the Browns to win this game, because, see the above two picks.
Seahawks (4-8) @ Texans (2-10) (1pm FOX)
Even though the Texans are at home I think that I am still going to pick the Seahawks to win. But at the same time I can’t have DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett to have a good game because there are fantasy playoff implications. Fantasy football is so fun.
Raiders (6-6) @ Chiefs (8-4) (1pm CBS)
The Raiders struggle is real, and the Chiefs are coming into greatness once again. I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game as long as they allow a couple of touchdowns to Darren Waller.
Saints (5-7) @ Jets (3-9) (1pm CBS)
I picked up the Saints defense because they are playing the Jets. I’m sure that won’t bite me in the ass. I’m picking the Saints to win this game, though who knows what team will be showing up for New Orleans. Mark Ingram tested positive, so he won’t be making the trip to NY. Alvin Kamara is supposed to be back and Taysom Hill should be starting for the Saints.
Jaguars (2-10) @ Titans (8-4) (1pm CBS)
My opponent picked up the Titans defense so I hope the Jags score a lot of points. I’m still picking the Titans to win this game. In other news, I miss Derrick Henry.
Cowboys (8-4) @ Washington (6-6) (1pm FOX)
This is a divisional game in which both teams want the win, and Washington really needs the win. I’m picking the Cowboys to win this game, though because they are in the NFC East, I’m hoping for a tie.
Lions (1-10-1) @ Broncos (6-6) (4:05pm FOX)
Now that the Lions have won a game, I think it takes some of the pressure off. Sure they are going to try to win this game, but I don’t think it’s likely. I’m picking the Broncos for the win.
NY Giants (4-8) @ Chargers (7-5) (4:05pm FOX)
Keenan Allen might not play for the Chargers as he has tested positive. Normally, if the Giants starting quarterback and backup quarterback were out I would not be looking forward to the game. But, the Giants picked up Jake Fromm from the Bills. Fromm may have his first start in the NFL at this game. Danny Jones is still dealing with neck issues and Mike Glennon is concussed. Jake is the next man up. Eric and I feel like we’ve known Jake for a very long time. He was one of the quarterbacks that was highlighted in a tv series called QB1 Beyond The Lights. So, we’ve been watching Jake play football since highschool. I still expect the Giants to lose this game and I’ll be picking the Chargers for the win, but I am looking forward to watching Jake Fromm and I am very excited that he is now a New York Giant! Go G-MEN!
49ers (6-6) @ Bengals (7-5) (4:25pm CBS)
Both teams are currently in a wildcard spot with other teams trying to push them out. Both teams need this win, so it should be a competitive game. I’m picking the Bengals to win this game, but only because they are the home team.
Bills (7-5) @ Buccaneers (9-3) (4:25pm CBS)
The Bills are coming off a hard loss to the Patriots and now have to go against some former Patriots, mainly their nemesis, Tom Brady. I think that Brady has their number and I’m picking the Bucs to win this game. Of course I am starting players on both teams so I need Emmanual Sanders to score a touchdown or three and I need Leonard Fournette to run all over the Bills. It should be a fun game to watch.
Bears (4-8) @ Packers (9-3) (8:20pm NBC)
This is another divisional game, but I don’t think there will be any playoff implications. I don’t see the Bears being competitive and I’m picking the Packers to win this game.
Monday, December 13th
Rams (8-4) @ Cardinals (10-2) (8:15pm ESPN)
Happy Birthday to me!!!! We’ll have to get through this game without the Manning brothers, they won’t be back until January. I need this to be a very high scoring game as I have Cooper Kupp and OBJ starting for the Rams and Kyler Murray and James Connor starting for the Cards. I really don’t care who wins, I’ll mainly be rooting for the offense of both teams. As a recurring theme this week, I’m going to pick the home team to win this game.
Nothing like having to wait until Monday night to see if I’ve won in the first round of the playoffs…
BYE WEEK: Colts, Dolphins, Eagles, Patriots
GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
