The Shenoa Report Week 7 '19 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
October 17, 2019
Regular Season Week 7

This week I’m writing you from the hospital. Don’t worry, everything is ok. Really. I’m sitting with my mom waiting for my dad to get out of surgery. He’s ok too, and right before they wheeled him in he told me I better finish this report so that when he gets home he can share it with his friends. My dad is great, and because of him I am that crazy NY Giants fan. Every Sunday we have our weekly football phone call. When I lived in NC it was those phone calls and this blog that kept us connected.

He’s out of surgery and everything went well. He’ll be able to share the report tonight!

Week 6 was marginally better for me and my picks. I went 9-5 and am 3-3 in my fantasy league. The Patriots and 49ers are still the only undefeated teams left going into week 7 and the Bengals and Dolphins still haven’t gotten a win.

Here is the recap for week six.

NY Giants @ Patriots 14-35
Neither team looked all that great, and that’s saying something. The score was quite close the first few quarters and the Giants actually looked like they had a chance for just a moment... then the fourth quarter came and the bottom fell out.

Panthers @ Buccaneers 37-26
The Bucs looked incredibly bad this game. Jamis Winston had multiple interceptions and fumbles, as the Bucs had 6 turnovers. On the other hand they made the Panthers defense look amazing.

Seahawks @ Browns 32-28
The Browns scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and shocked the Seahawks. Then the Seahawks decided to show up and shocked the Browns by winning the game.

Texans @ Chiefs 31-24
Tyreek Hill is back for the Chiefs and his first touchdown catch was incredible. It looked like he jumped 7 feet in the air over his defenders to secure the ball and run it in for a touchdown. The Chiefs looked unstoppable, until someone fell on Patrick Mahomes’ ankle and he hobbled around for the rest of the game, that they ultimately lost.

Redskins @ Dolphins 17-16
The Redskins seemed to have this game secured until the Dolphins put Fitzmagic into the game because they needed a “spark”. Fitzpatrick lead the team down the field and an extra point would have tied the game and sent it into overtime. The Dolphins coach wanted to win so badly that he called for the 2 point conversion and they didn’t convert. The Dolphins are still without a win this season.

Eagles @ Vikings 20-38
Kirk Cousins had 4 touchdown passes, 3 of which went to Stefon Diggs as the Vikings walked all over the Eagles.

Saints @ Jaguars 13-6
I needed Alvin Kamara and Jared Cook to have a big game for the Saints as well as the Jags putting up big defensive points. Neither happened, this lead to a fantasy loss for me.

Bengals @ Ravens 17-23
The Bengals scored first, but the Ravens scored more often. Another Bengals loss came as no surprise. They too have not gotten a win this season.

49ers @ Rams 20-7
Are the 49ers really this good or are the Rams not the Rams of last season. I think, maybe both. The 49ers defense allowed only one score and their offense is on point with Jimmy Garoppolo under center.

Falcons @ Cardinals 33-34
Kyler Murray has seemed to find his place in the NFL. The rookie quarterback threw for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Falcons came back in a big way, but the Cardinals fought till the end to secure the win.

Titans @ Broncos 0-16
This was the most surprising game for me this week. The Titans aren’t terrible but were shut out in Denver. They even benched Marcus Mariota and put in Ryan Tannehill to see if that would help them score points. It didn’t. The Broncos defense was legit this game.

Cowboys @ Jets 22-24
I got this pick wrong and I am totally ok with it. Everyone, myself included, thought that the Cowboys were amazing winning the first 3 games of the season. As it turns out, they weren’t playing really good teams and have lost the last 3. The Jets got their first win of the season and I’m sure it felt oh so good.

Steelers @ Chargers 24-17
The Steelers, with their third string quarterback, beat the Chargers. Ouch. The Chargers have to get it together. On the fantasy football side, I am glad that Hunter Henry is back for them, and for my team.

Lions @ Packers 22-23
The officiating in the league is horrible. There is talk of full time officials. It needs to happen. The Lions should have won this game. Trey Flowers, who has never in his entire career been called for illegal hands to the face, was flagged not once but twice for this penalty. Trey never touched the guy’s helmet. His hand was on the collar. The two penalties helped advance the ball late in the fourth quarter for the Packers. This allowed the Packers to kick a field goal with 2 seconds left in the game. The Packers made the field goal and “won” the game. Sorry Detroit fans, you were robbed.

WEEK 7

Thursday, October 17th

Chiefs (4-2) @ Broncos (2-4) [8:20pm FOX/NFLN]
The Chiefs have lost two in a row and the Broncos have won two in a row coming into this game. The Chiefs are pretty beat up and don’t have a great defense. The Broncos have a good defense but have been struggling in the air on offense. I think this will be a close game but the Chiefs will squeak out a win.

Sunday, October 20th

Rams (3-3) @ Falcons (1-5) [1pm FOX]
Both teams have been struggling this season, the Falcons seemingly moreso. I’m going to pick the Rams to win. They acquired Jalen Ramsey this week and that should help their defense, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Falcons pulled it off.

Dolphins (0-5) @ Bills (4-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Bills to win this game. They are fresh off their bye and I don’t think Fitzmagic is enough to give the Dolphins a win.

Jaguars (2-4) @ Bengals (0-6) [1pm CBS]
The Jags no longer have Ramsey but that may help them in the long run. There is no more division in the team having him gone. I’m going to pick the Jags to win this game.

Vikings (4-2) @ Lions (2-2-1) [1pm FOX]
The Lions must be hoppin mad after the way the game went Monday night. This should be a good game. It all depends on which Kirk Cousins shows up for the Vikings. If he has a good game they will win if he doesn’t the Lions will win. I’m going to pick Detroit at home.

Raiders (3-2) @ Packers (5-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m going to take the Packers in this game. Hopefully there will be some receivers to catch Aaron’s passes for lots and lots of touchdowns.

Texans (4-2) @ Colts (3-2) [1pm CBS]
This should be a pretty evenly matched game. I’m picking the Texans to win this one.

Cardinals (2-3-1) @ NY Giants (2-4) [1pm FOX]
Had this game been week 3 I would, without hesitation, pick the Giants… Week 7 seems to be a different story. Kyler Murry is getting better and better every game with the Cardinals and the Giants, once again, are injury ridden. But, the Giants are at home, and Saquan Barkley might just play… I’m picking the Giants for the win.

49ers (5-0) @ Redskins (1-5) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m picking the 49ers to win this game. I don’t think the Redskins have much of a chance.

Chargers (2-4) @ Titans (2-4) [4:05pm CBS]
I’m hoping that the Chargers will bounce back but they haven’t impressed me in the last few games. I think I’m going to pick the Titans to win this game

Saints (5-1) @ Bears (3-2) [4:25pm FOX]
Kamara is questionable for the Saints and that makes me extremely nervous. I hope things change soon, for the better. Even though the Bears have a great defense I’m going to pick the Saints for the win.

Ravens (4-2) @ Seahawks (5-1) [4:25pm FOX].
I’m picking the Seahawks for the win. It’s hard to go against the 12th man.

Eagles (3-3) @ Cowboys (3-3) [8:20pm NBC]
I’d like this game to end in a tie. That’s not very likely though. I guess I’ll pick the Cowboys for the win.

Monday, October 21st

Patriots (6-0) @ Jets (1-4) [8:15pm ESPN]
As much as I’d like the Jets to win, and I’ll be rooting for them for sure, I’m picking the Pats to win this game.

BYE: Browns, Steelers, Buccaneers, Panthers

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
