Regular Season Week 5
Week four was not a good week for my picks, I went 7-8 but seriously, no one thought that the Bucs would rout the Rams or the Browns beat the Ravens.... I am 0-4 on Thursday night games, but you can’t pick against Green Bay when they are at home. I’m still beating all of the NFL Insiders, and I am 3-1 in my fantasy league. The Patriots, Chiefs, and 49ers are the only undefeated teams left going into week 4 and the Jets, Redskins, Broncos, Cardinals, and Dolphins all have not gotten a win. At least the Dolphins can’t lose this week, they have a bye.
Here is the recap for week four.
For my first Sunday off since April one would think that I would be right in front of the tv with Eric, beer and knitting needles in hand, all ready to watch all the games. NOPE. Instead, you would find us in our backyard, me driving a tractor, digging ditches to install a french drain. You know how much I LOVE football, but I love this guy more. So we opened all the blinds so we could see the TV through the window and we worked all afternoon.
Eagles @ Packers 34-27
The Eagles got lucky Thursday night, when a tipped ball for a Green Bay touchdown was intercepted by the Eagles giving them the win.
Titans @ Falcons 24-10
I keep thinking that the Falcons are better than they actually are. Marcus Mariota threw three touchdowns in the first half to give the Titans the lead and the Falcons never caught up.
Patriots @ Bills 16-10
The Bills played a really good game even though they lost. Josh Allen took a pretty ridiculous hit to the head, and had the quarterbacks been reversed and it was Brady that had been hit, the other defender would’ve been tossed out of the game. The Bills did a really good job of rattling Brady, and it was just an unfortunate turn over that won the game for the Pats.
Chiefs @ Lions 34-30
This game was a shootout that came down to the last seconds of the game and a Chiefs win. Very exciting to listen to, whilst outside digging a ditch. At this point the tractor had gone home and we were using our shovels and listening to the game on the little bluetooth speaker, as we do.
Raiders @ Colts 31-24
I was pretty shocked to learn that the Raiders had beaten the Colts; I’m really not sure why. Neither team is that great in my opinion. I was more shocked when I saw the hit by Vontaze Burfict on Jack Doyle. It was a vicious hit and he was ejected for unnecessary roughness on a helmet to helmet collision. After the game Vontaze was suspended for the rest of the season, and I wouldn’t be surprised, or sad, if he never returned to the NFL.
Chargers @ Dolphins 30-10
The Dolphins continued to tank their season but they did have the lead in this game for a whole 3 minutes. Sorry Miami fans.
Redskins @ NY Giants 3-24
The Giants are now on a winning streak, kinda like Major League… More impressively, they did it without Saquan. The Giants defense only allowed 3 points as they picked off rookie Dwayne Haskins 3 times, one of them being a pick six! The Giants are still pretty sloppy and have a lot to improve but they are well on their way. 2-2 baby!
Browns @ Ravens 40-25
2 words. Nick Chubb. The Browns RB had 165 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, and if you were lucky enough to have him on your fantasy team, and I did, you probably won this week. OBJ only had 2 receptions for 20 yards for the Browns but QB Baker Mayfield rotated between 7 targets throughout the day to keep the Ravens defense guessing. This proved to be very effective.
Panthers @ Texans 16-10
Kyle Allen, Cam Newton’s replacement, had three fumbles but managed to still beat the Texans at home. I don’t know what that says about the Texans, or Carolina for that matter.
Buccaneers @ Rams 55-40
This doesn’t seem to be the same Rams team that made it to the Super Bowl just last year. Gurley isn’t the same and neither is Jared Goff. They’ll need to get it together, but I think losing to the Bucs was a real wakeup call. Super Bowl hangover for real.
Seahawks @ Cardinals 27-10
It was a combined effort of the Seahawks offense and defense that lead them to victory over the Cardinals. Russell Wilson threw for a touchdown and Jadevon Clowney intercepted a Kyler Murray pass for a pick six. It helped that Murray didn’t have any touchdowns for the Cardinals.
Vikings @ Bears 6-16
The Bears are so good on defense that losing their quarterback didn’t really affect their game. Chase Daniel came in for the injured Mitchell Trubisky, but it was the defense that lead the team to another W.
Jaguars @ Broncos 26-24
Jalen Ramsey didn’t need to be in the game to help the Jags get the win, and who knows if he will even return to the team. The Broncos have now lost four in a row. It’s not a good time to be a Denver fan I would think.
Cowboys @ Saints 10-12
This was a fun game to watch and even though I got the pick wrong I was happy to see the Saints win. I would have liked Alvin Kamara to get more points but we can’t always get what we want.
Bengals @ Steelers 3-27
The Steelers finally got their first win of the season in this uneventful lopsided win at home.
WEEK 5
Thursday October 3rd
Rams (3-1) @ Seahawks (3-1) [8:20pm FOX/NFLN]
When in doubt go with the home team. I’m going with the Seahawks to win this game after listening to the analysts rip on the Rams on my drive into work this morning.
Sunday October 6th
Cardinals (0-3-1) @ Bengals (0-4) [1pm FOX]
Both teams just aren’t good. Maybe this game will also end in a tie. I’m going to pick the Bengals to win only because they are the home team.
Bills (3-1) @ Titans (2-2) [1pm CBS]
The Bills injury report is becoming quite a list. I’m going to pick the Titans to win at home.
Bears (3-1) @ Raiders (2-2) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Bears to beat the Raiders.
Buccaneers (2-2) @ Saints (3-1) [1pm FOX]
I think that the Saints will win this game even though the Bucs put on quite a show last week against the Rams.
Jets (0-3) @ Eagles (2-2) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Eagles to win this game.
Vikings (2-2) @ NY Giants (2-2) [1pm FOX]
Can the Giants get 3 in a row? I think so. The Giants should have Golden Tate back for this game. I’m picking the Giants to win this game! GO GMEN!!!
Ravens (2-2) @ Steelers (1-3) [1pm CBS]
Usually the Ravens have a really hard time against the Steelers, but this year I think that the Ravens have a better football team than the Steelers do. Therefore I think I’m going to pick the Ravens to beat the Steelers at home.
Patriots (4-0) @ Redskins (0-4) [1pm CBS]
I think that the Redskins are going to be 0-5 after this game.
Jaguars(2-2) @ Panthers (2-2) [1pm CBS]
The Panthers are actually showing potential but I am starting the Jags on my fantasy team so I’m going to pick them to win the game. My opponent is undefeated and I’d like to change that this weekend.
Falcons (1-3) @ Texans (2-2) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Texans to bounce back and win this game.
Broncos (0-4) @ Chargers (2-2) [4:05pm CBS]
Melvin Gordon is supposed to be back for the Chargers so I am picking them to win this game.
Packers (3-1) @ Cowboys (3-1) [4:25pm FOX]
Will the Cowboys lose two in a row? I hope so. But I still think they are going to win at home. I mean I hope they don’t and Aaron has a big game against him. I’ll be rooting for Rodgers and the Packers but picking the Cowboys for the win.
Colts (2-2) @ Chiefs (4-0) [8:20pm NBC]
I’m picking the Chiefs to improve to 5-0.
Monday October 7th
Browns (2-2) @ 49ers (3-0) [8:15pm ESPN]
I’m picking the 49ers to win at home, as long as Nick Chubb has another phenomenal game.
BYE: Lions, Dolphins
GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
