Regular Season Week
15
Happy Birthday to Me!!!!! Another year around the sun, and
football on my birthday. Can life get any better? I submit it can not! Week 14
was a doozy! I went 10-6 in my picks, and would have done much better if
the Steeler had beaten the Raiders (NO ONE saw that one coming), the Bills had
beaten the Jets (yeah, I saw that coming), the Broncos had beaten the 49ers
(what?!), the Texans had beaten the Colts (weird), and the Pats had beaten the
Dolphins (laughing hysterically).
I picked the Giants to win and they routed the Redskins, who are
no longer division leading, and will not make the playoffs. It was a good week,
and even though I didn’t make the playoffs in fantasy my team is in the
consolation bracket and my score was the top score out of the entire league
this week.
Let’s recap week fourteen.
Jaguars @
Titans 9-30
Tennessee’s Derrick Henry had a record-tying 99-yard touchdown run
to help the Titans run all over the Jags. That was a fun run to watch. Henry
was weaving, pushing, and stiff arming his way to the endzone. The Jags
definitely do not have the defense they had last year.
Jets @ Bills 27-23
A Bills friend said this weekend “The Buffalo Bills would come in
second in a one person race.” It must be tough being a Bills fan, even more
tough than being a Giants or a Jets fan. The Bills lead the entire game and
then lost it in the fourth when they just decided to stop playing I suppose.
Sorry Bills fans.
Panthers @ Browns 20-26
The Panthers downward spiral continued Sunday as the Browns beat
them in Cleveland. Though, for once, Charlotte had more snow than Cleveland so
maybe it was better that the game was in Ohio. Jarvis Landry was on fire,
having one receiving touchdown and a rushing TD. And, Baker Mayfield was
the better quarterback, out playing Cam Newton.
Falcons @ Packers 20-34
Finally, the Packers win a game, and they did it under interim
head coach Joe Philbin. Aaron Rodgers had a two touchdown, no interception day,
and looked more like himself. Atlanta continues to be terrible.
Ravens @ Chiefs 24-27 OT
Who would’ve thought that the Chiefs would beat the Ravens
defense? Well I did! I’m glad I picked the Chiefs to win this game. It took
overtime and relied on field goals but they got the job done. Chiefs kicker,
Harrison Butker had missed a field goal in regulation but then redeemed himself
in overtime to win the game. This was a good, close, game and well played.
Patriots @ Dolphins 33-34
If you haven’t seen the last play of this game, do yourself a
favor and watch it now (https://streamable.com/lb92m). You’re welcome. Miami wins as time expires on a pass and
double lateral with Kenyan Drake running the last 52 yards to score a
touchdown.
Saints @ Buccaneers 28-14
The Saints shut out the Bucs in the second half to improve their
record to 11-2. They had to rally though, as the Bucs outscored the Saints in
the first half. Obviously it was Drew Brees that brought them to victory,
throwing one touchdown pass and running in for another.
NY Giants @ Redskins 40-16
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! GMEN!!!!!! This game! Wow! This game
had me so excited it was hard to speak in full sentences. If only they had been
able to play like this all season. Eli Manning and Saquon Barkley played so
well that they took them out of the game at the end of the third quarter. It
wasn’t until after the Giants pulled some of their starters that the Redskins
were able to score. Barkley had 170 rushing yards in the first three quarters
along with a 78 yard touchdown, and with that he has surpassed 1,000 yards this
season. Needless to say, he’s having a decent rookie year. Eli had three
touchdown passes and no interceptions. The Giants also spoiled any hopes
of the Redskins making the playoffs with this win. After pulling Manning, we
got to see rookie Kyle Lauletta, who wasn’t so effective at QB but with a 40
point lead he couldn’t do much damage. He went 0-5 with an interception. I
don’t think that Lauletta will be the replacement for Eli anytime soon. On the Redskins side of the ball, Mark
Sanchez threw two interceptions, one for a pick six, before he was pulled and
replaced by Josh Johnson, the Redskins fourth string QB this season. Johnson
was at least able to move the ball down the field and keep the Redskins from
being shutout, with one passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and an
interception. He was also named the starting quarterback for the Redskins for
the next game.
Colts @ Texans 24-21
This ending really surprised me, as I mentioned before. The Colts
got out to a sizable lead in the third quarter and the Texans were never able
to recover. Insert funny Luck pun.
Bengals @ Chargers 21-26
This game was a lot closer than expected. It was the Chargers
kicker, Michael Badgley, that seemed to have the most scores, kicking four
field goals in the win over the Bengals.
Broncos @ 49ers 14-20
This was another pick that I got wrong. 49ers tight end, George
Kittle is shaping up to be the next Gronk. He had 210 receiving yards and
became the first 49ers tight end to reach the 1,000 yard milestone in the win
over the Broncos.
Eagles @ Cowboys 23-29 OT
I really wanted this game to end in a tie, or an Eagles win…
Sometimes you don’t get all the things you want. It pains me that the Cowboys
are leading the division and will make the playoffs… It was Prescott’s
touchdown pass to Amari Cooper in overtime that won the game for the Cowboys.
Steelers @ Raiders 21-24
It was Boswell’s missed field goal with 21 seconds left in the
game that gave the Raiders the win. How poetic. You see, I had Chris Boswell on
my fantasy team this season for a while and I dropped him because he
continually missed field goals. I’m surprised the Steelers haven’t dropped him
too.
Lions @ Cardinals 17-3
As expected, the Lions outplayed the Cardinals on offense and
defense. All Arizona could do was get a field goal in the fourth quarter so
they were not shut out.
Rams @ Bears 6-15
The Bears defense showed up big and put a stop to Todd Gurley and
the Rams. It was an odd score in that the Bears had two field goals, a safety,
and a touchdown. While the Rams only had two field goals and were completely
shut out in the second half.
Vikings @ Seahawks 7-21
This game was so boring. It was 0-3 for three
and a half quarters. Now the final score makes it look like it was a good
game but nothing really happened until there were about 5 minutes left in the
fourth. The Seahawks definitely outplayed the Vikings in all respects. Kind of
a let down if you ask me.
WEEK 15
Thursday, December 13th
Chargers [10-3 ] @ Chiefs [11-2] (8:20pm FOX)
This should be a really good game and it’s on my birthday which
makes it even more exciting. I’m picking the Chiefs to win, but only because
they are home and still perfect there.
Saturday, December 15th
Texans [9-4] @ Jets [4-9] (1pm NFLN)
I’m picking the Texans to bounce back and win this game. They
still haven’t clinched the division title so this is a game they will want to
win.
Browns [5-7-1] @ Broncos [6-7] (8:20pm NFLN)
The Browns aren’t really good on the road so I am going to pick
the Broncos to win this game. Though it wouldn’t surprise me if the Broncos
lost like they did last week.
Sunday, December 16th
Cardinals [3-10] @ Falcons [4-9] (1pm FOX)
I’m going to pick the Falcons to win this game for no other reason
than they are the home team. Both teams are mediocre so I wouldn’t be surprised
if the Cardinals won or if the game ended in a tie.
Lions [5-8] @ Bills [4-9] (1pm FOX)
The Lions are 2-4 away and the Bills are 2-4 at home. It’s a toss
up. The Lions are technically alive in playoff terms, though not likely so I am
going to have to pick the Lions to win this game. Doing so will most likely
ensure a Bills win.
Packers [5-7-1] @ Bears [9-4] (1pm FOX)
I’m picking the Bears to win this game. With a win Chicago could
annihilate Green Bay’s chances at the playoffs.
Raiders [3-10] @ Bengals [5-8] (1pm CBS)
Neither team has any hope of making the playoffs so they are just
playing for pride at this point. I’m going to pick the Bengals to win this week
only because they are home and I think it was a fluke that the Raiders won last
week.
Cowboys [8-5] @ Colts [7-6] (1pm FOX)
I would love to see the Colts beat the Cowboys. It could happen.
The Cowboys have only won two road games while the Colts are 4-2 at home. It’s
hard to play at Lucas Oil as the visiting team. I am going to pick the Colts to
win this game.
Dolphins [7-6] @ Vikings [6-6-1] (1pm CBS)
The Vikings haven’t been doing so well as of late but I think this
is the game in which they will bounce back. I’m picking them to win at home
against the Dolphins who have a record of 1-5 away.
Titans [7-6] @ NY Giants [5-8] (1pm CBS)
The Giants could actually, really win this game. Wouldn’t that be
something. The Titans are really good on the road and the Giants are marginally
better at home. This would be a late birthday gift if they win. Heck, I’m
picking the Giants to win this game.
Redskins [6-7] @ Jaguars [4-9] (1pm CBS)
Sacksonville seems to not exist anymore for the Jags but they are
playing the Redskins so they might not lose. I’m picking the Jags to win this
game.
Buccaneers [5-8] @ Ravens [7-6] (1pm FOX)
The Ravens are starting rookie QB Lamar Jackson against the Bucs.
I’m going with the Ravens for the win.
Seahawks [8-5] @ 49ers [3-10] (4:05pm FOX)
I think that the Seahawks will win this game on the road over the
49ers. Though the 49ers like to play the upset kings.
Patriots [9-4] @ Steelers [7-5-1] (4:25pm CBS)
I’m picking the Patriots to win this game and push the Steelers
deeper into their downward spiral.
Eagles [6-7] @ Rams [11-2] (8:20pm NBC)
I’m picking the Rams to bounce back and win because I don’t think
that they Eagles can contain Todd Gurley.
Monday, December 17th
Saints [11-2] @ Panthers [6-7] (8:15pm ESPN)
I think that the Saints are going to march right
over the Panthers on Monday night. It’ll be fun to watch. Sorry Panthers fans.
GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
