Regular Season Week 4

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you have probably heard some news about the NFL that does not concern football. It all started last season when Colin Kaepernick did not stand for the National Anthem before football games. This angered a lot of people, but only a few asked “why”? The reason, as stated to NFL Media in August of 2016, was that he wanted to call attention to the oppression of “black people and other people of color”. Fast forward to this past week when President Trump had some strong words about people who take a knee during the National Anthem. Saying, “Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired.” After this was said there was a whole new wave of kneeling, locking arms, praying, or not even coming onto the field for the National Anthem on Sunday. Owners of teams stood or knelt with their players to show solidarity. There are many different opinions out there. I encourage you to read why these players and owners are exercising their right to protest: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/25/opinion/colin-kaepernick-football-protests.html
I also encourage you to join in and HELP the cause.  The Internet can be a wonderful thing if it is used for good, to help people. Lastly, I urge you to read the article on how to respect and disrespect our flag: http://www.military.com/flag-day/us-flag-code.html
“Thinking NFL players are ‘protesting the flag’ is like thinking Rosa Parks was protesting public transportation”. – Found on Instagram.
I’ll leave you with this, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love. “ 1 Corinthians 13:13. We get so engulfed with backbiting and harsh words and actions, we need more LOVE in the world and less of everything else.
Now, back to football.   I went 7-9 on my picks last week, which is terrible in my opinion, and I am 2-1 and 1-2 in my fantasy leagues.

Let’s recap week three.

Rams @ 49ers 41-39
The Thursday night uniforms are atrocious. Back in the day my dad and I would call the Rams the bumblebees because that’s what their uniforms resembled. I didn’t think it would be a shoot out but I did pick the Bumblebees to win and I’m glad I got at least one pick right this week.

Ravens @ Jaguars 7-44
Being that it was the Jags fifth appearance at Wembley and the Ravens’ first, of course, I was picking the Jags. Man oh man, the Jags had their way with the Ravens. It was so bad it was laughable and I sat there with my cup of coffee, laughing and shaking my head all morning long.

Saints @ Panthers 34-13
The flippin’ Panthers better get their insert expletive together fast! Cam gave me NEGATIVE points this week in fantasy and in doing so I LOST. Shame on you Panthers, shame, shame, shame, shame! Top ranked defense, my ass… And against the Saints?!?!?!

NY Giants @ Eagles 24-27
The Giants have moved to the next phase in disappointing their fans. They went from flat out sucking, to major comeback filled with the sense of confidence and hope, only to then lose in the final second of the game. I guess it did take a 61 yard field goal by the Eagles to dash that hope of a win; heck of a kick.

Broncos @ Bills 16-26
The Broncos are right up there in my fantasy bleep list right under Cam Newton. Denver, you played Buffalo, you should also be ashamed of yourselves. Another top ranked defense, HAH! But hey, Bills fans, it looks like you finally have a real head coach.

Falcons @ Lions 30-26
I did not watch this game but I heard it was a doozy and because of a mistake by a ref there was a clock runoff and the Lions lost the game. This seems to happen to the Lions more than any other team. Sorry Detroit, it also messed up my pick for this game.

Steelers @ Bears 17-23
And another pick I got wrong. Who would have thought that the Bears would beat the Steelers? I can’t even name the Bears’ QB off the top of my head. Maybe they are better off without Cutler.

Browns @ Colts 28-31
I have not learned my lesson yet, as I still picked the Browns to win a game. This was the week it should of happened with all the wonky upsets. They sure did make it a close game though.

Buccaneers @ Vikings 17-34
The Vikes second string QB got things done in a big way over the Bucs. I didn’t see that coming either.

Texans @ Patriots 33-36
That’s it, I’m benching Cam and starting Texans rookie QB Watson. If any rookie can keep pace in New England, that’s impressive and the Texans almost upset Foxboro.

Dolphins @ Jets 6-20
What the what?! The Jets even got a win!??! I think that the Giants and the Jets have actually switched teams - that would make more sense.

Seahawks @ Titans 27-33
The Titans did indeed pull it off; another pick wrong. Are the Titans actually going to be good this year, or are the Seahawks going to be bad?

Bengals @ Packers 24-27 OT
The Packers had to come from behind just to get to over time to win the game. Football teams sure have changed.

Chiefs @ Chargers 24-10
At least the Chiefs are consistent.

Raiders @ Redskins 10-27
The Raiders also underwhelmed this weekend. I expected more out of them.

Cowboys @ Cardinals 28-17
The Cardinals really should have won this game. They kept Elliot in check and also held Bryant so he wasn’t a threat. Oh well.

WEEK 4

Bears (1-2) @ Packers (2-1) [8:25pm CBS]
I’m picking the Packers for the win.

Sunday, October 1st

Saints (1-2) @ Dolphins (1-1) [9:30am FOX]
You’ll have to get up early Sunday morning to watch this game but at least you can watch it on Fox! So, if you like pancakes and football, this game is for you! Get up, get your coffee, and watch some football. I’m picking the Saints for the win.

Bills (2-1) @ Falcons (3-0) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Falcons for the win.

Panthers (2-1) @ Patriots (2-1)  [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Patriots and I’m pretty sure I’m benching Cam.

Rams (2-1) @ Cowboys (2-1) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Cowboys.

Lions (2-1) @ Vikings (2-1) [1pm FOX]
I don’t know, I guess I’ll pick the Vikings because when I pick the Lions they lose. You’re welcome Dean.

I’m picking the Jags.

Steelers (2-1) @ Ravens (2-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Steelers.

Titans (2-1) @ Texans (1-2) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Texans.

49ers (0-3) @ Cardinals (1-2) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m picking the Cardinals.

 NY Giants (0-3) @ Buccaneers (1-1) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m picking the Bucs, and will be picking against the Giants until they actually get a win. Of course I’ll be rooting for the Giants…

Eagles (2-1) @ Chargers (0-3) [4:05pm FOX]
Man do I want the Chargers to win, but they are terrible so I’m going to have to pick the Eagles for the win.

Raiders (2-1) @ Broncos (2-1) [4:25pm CBS]
I’m taking the Broncos for the win.

Colts (1-2) @ Seahawks (1-2) [8:30pm NBC]
 I’m picking the Seahawks.

Monday, October 2nd

Redskins (2-1) @ Chiefs (3-0) [8:30pm ESPN]
I’m picking the Chiefs.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!!!!!
