The Shenoa Report

Regular Season Week 4

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you have probably heard some news about the NFL that does not concern football. It all started last season when Colin Kaepernick did not stand for the National Anthem before football games. This angered a lot of people, but only a few asked “why”? The reason, as stated to NFL Media in August of 2016, was that he wanted to call attention to the oppression of “black people and other people of color”. Fast forward to this past week when President Trump had some strong words about people who take a knee during the National Anthem. Saying, “Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired.” After this was said there was a whole new wave of kneeling, locking arms, praying, or not even coming onto the field for the National Anthem on Sunday. Owners of teams stood or knelt with their players to show solidarity. There are many different opinions out there. I encourage you to read why these players and owners are exercising their right to protest: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/25/opinion/colin-kaepernick-football-protests.html
I also encourage you to join in and HELP the cause.  The Internet can be a wonderful thing if it is used for good, to help people. Lastly, I urge you to read the article on how to respect and disrespect our flag: http://www.military.com/flag-day/us-flag-code.html
“Thinking NFL players are ‘protesting the flag’ is like thinking Rosa Parks was protesting public transportation”. – Found on Instagram.
I’ll leave you with this, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love. “ 1 Corinthians 13:13. We get so engulfed with backbiting and harsh words and actions, we need more LOVE in the world and less of everything else.
Now, back to football.   I went 7-9 on my picks last week, which is terrible in my opinion, and I am 2-1 and 1-2 in my fantasy leagues.

Let’s recap week three.

Rams @ 49ers 41-39
The Thursday night uniforms are atrocious. Back in the day my dad and I would call the Rams the bumblebees because that’s what their uniforms resembled. I didn’t think it would be a shoot out but I did pick the Bumblebees to win and I’m glad I got at least one pick right this week.

Ravens @ Jaguars 7-44
Being that it was the Jags fifth appearance at Wembley and the Ravens’ first, of course, I was picking the Jags. Man oh man, the Jags had their way with the Ravens. It was so bad it was laughable and I sat there with my cup of coffee, laughing and shaking my head all morning long.

Saints @ Panthers 34-13
The flippin’ Panthers better get their insert expletive together fast! Cam gave me NEGATIVE points this week in fantasy and in doing so I LOST. Shame on you Panthers, shame, shame, shame, shame! Top ranked defense, my ass… And against the Saints?!?!?!

NY Giants @ Eagles 24-27
The Giants have moved to the next phase in disappointing their fans. They went from flat out sucking, to major comeback filled with the sense of confidence and hope, only to then lose in the final second of the game. I guess it did take a 61 yard field goal by the Eagles to dash that hope of a win; heck of a kick.

Broncos @ Bills 16-26
The Broncos are right up there in my fantasy bleep list right under Cam Newton. Denver, you played Buffalo, you should also be ashamed of yourselves. Another top ranked defense, HAH! But hey, Bills fans, it looks like you finally have a real head coach.

Falcons @ Lions 30-26
I did not watch this game but I heard it was a doozy and because of a mistake by a ref there was a clock runoff and the Lions lost the game. This seems to happen to the Lions more than any other team. Sorry Detroit, it also messed up my pick for this game.

Steelers @ Bears 17-23
And another pick I got wrong. Who would have thought that the Bears would beat the Steelers? I can’t even name the Bears’ QB off the top of my head. Maybe they are better off without Cutler.

Browns @ Colts 28-31
I have not learned my lesson yet, as I still picked the Browns to win a game. This was the week it should of happened with all the wonky upsets. They sure did make it a close game though.

Buccaneers @ Vikings 17-34
The Vikes second string QB got things done in a big way over the Bucs. I didn’t see that coming either.

Texans @ Patriots 33-36
That’s it, I’m benching Cam and starting Texans rookie QB Watson. If any rookie can keep pace in New England, that’s impressive and the Texans almost upset Foxboro.

Dolphins @ Jets 6-20
What the what?! The Jets even got a win!??! I think that the Giants and the Jets have actually switched teams - that would make more sense.

Seahawks @ Titans 27-33
The Titans did indeed pull it off; another pick wrong. Are the Titans actually going to be good this year, or are the Seahawks going to be bad?

Bengals @ Packers 24-27 OT
The Packers had to come from behind just to get to over time to win the game. Football teams sure have changed.

Chiefs @ Chargers 24-10
At least the Chiefs are consistent.

Raiders @ Redskins 10-27
The Raiders also underwhelmed this weekend. I expected more out of them.

Cowboys @ Cardinals 28-17
The Cardinals really should have won this game. They kept Elliot in check and also held Bryant so he wasn’t a threat. Oh well.

WEEK 4

Thursday, September 28th

Bears (1-2) @ Packers (2-1) [8:25pm CBS]
I’m picking the Packers for the win.

Sunday, October 1st

Saints (1-2) @ Dolphins (1-1) [9:30am FOX]
You’ll have to get up early Sunday morning to watch this game but at least you can watch it on Fox! So, if you like pancakes and football, this game is for you! Get up, get your coffee, and watch some football. I’m picking the Saints for the win.

Bills (2-1) @ Falcons (3-0) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Falcons for the win.

Panthers (2-1) @ Patriots (2-1)  [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Patriots and I’m pretty sure I’m benching Cam.

Bengals (0-3) @ Browns (0-3) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Browns, because I haven’t learned my lesson yet.

Rams (2-1) @ Cowboys (2-1) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Cowboys.

Lions (2-1) @ Vikings (2-1) [1pm FOX]
I don’t know, I guess I’ll pick the Vikings because when I pick the Lions they lose. You’re welcome Dean.

Jaguars (2-1) @ Jets (1-2) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Jags.

Steelers (2-1) @ Ravens (2-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Steelers.

Titans (2-1) @ Texans (1-2) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Texans.

49ers (0-3) @ Cardinals (1-2) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m picking the Cardinals.

 NY Giants (0-3) @ Buccaneers (1-1) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m picking the Bucs, and will be picking against the Giants until they actually get a win. Of course I’ll be rooting for the Giants…

Eagles (2-1) @ Chargers (0-3) [4:05pm FOX]
Man do I want the Chargers to win, but they are terrible so I’m going to have to pick the Eagles for the win.

Raiders (2-1) @ Broncos (2-1) [4:25pm CBS]
I’m taking the Broncos for the win.

Colts (1-2) @ Seahawks (1-2) [8:30pm NBC]
 I’m picking the Seahawks.

Monday, October 2nd

Redskins (2-1) @ Chiefs (3-0) [8:30pm ESPN]
I’m picking the Chiefs.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 3 '17 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
September 21, 2017
Regular Season Week 3

I went 10-6 on my picks last week and I am 2-0 and 0-2 in my fantasy leagues. I was so disgusted with the Giants Monday night I didn’t stay up to watch the train wreck, er, end of the game. Though, any amount of the game was too long when you compare it to watching a train wreck. Anyway…

Let’s recap week two.

Texans @ Bengals 13-9
Before the game I said to Eric, “I have a strong feeling that the Texans are going to win”…  I should have changed my pick, the Texans did in fact, win. It was an ugly game and I didn’t stay up to watch the whole thing, so I’m glad I didn’t really miss anything.

Bills @ Panthers 3-9
Are the Bills just bad or is the Panthers defense really legit? Now if the Panthers could just up their offense. They suffered a major loss during this game. Greg Olson broke his foot and will be out for a long time. As for the Bills, eh sorry, I don’t have anything really nice to say.

Browns  @ Ravens 10-24
Maybe if the Browns didn’t turn it over so much they would have had a chance of winning. Maybe…

Cardinals @ Colts 16-13 OT
The Colts actually had the lead for a lot of this game, shocking I know, but they lost in overtime with, wait for it, a turnover that lead to a Cardinals field goal. Longest run-on sentence ever.

Titans @ Jaguars 37-16
Man on man did the Titans beat up on the Jags.

Eagles @ Chiefs 20-27
Dare I say Travis Kelce is the best Tight End in the league? Move over Gronk, Kelse has this title now. Thanks KC for beating the Eagles, the Giants need all they help they can get in the NFC East.

Patriots @ Saints 36-20
Tom Brady gave me 40 some points in fantasy this week. The Pats defense still fails to meet my expectations, but that’s ok. PS the Saints are terrible.

Vikings  @ Steelers 9-26
Big Ben is just a different guy at home, so of course the Steelers won. I’m just thankful that Bell got more touches than last week!

Bears @ Buccaneers 7-29
The Bucs won because, the Bears… Enough said.

Dolphins @ Chargers 19-17
I was kind of shocked that the Dolphins won this game. Good for them.

Jets @ Raiders 20-45
I get really upset sometimes being a Giants fan and watching them lose, but then I get thankful again knowing that I’m not a Jets fan cause that team loses much worse. Sorry Jets fans, you could become Giants fans and not lose as much! On a completely separate subject, I wonder if Seattle misses Marshawn Lynch? Oakland is sure happy to have him.

Cowboys @ Broncos 17-42
This game was FANTASTIC to watch. The Denver defense was my favorite part of this game. It was the longest game of the day as it had a 62 minute weather delay right at the end of the first quarter.

Redskins @ Rams 27-20
The Rams let me down, but that really isn’t a surprise.

49ers @ Seahawks 9-12
Well, it’s a good thing the Seahawks played the 49ers; play a real team and see how they fare. Seattle should have crushed San Francisco.

Packers @ Falcons 23-34
NO JORDY!!!!!! I think that the Packers could have won had Jordy Nelson played the whole game. But Jordy was injured early and the Falcons won their first game in their new stadium.

Lions @ NY Giants 24-10
For the first time in my Giants watching history I went to bed before the game was over. I gave up. They were pathetic. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

WEEK 3

Thursday September 21st

Rams (1-1) @ 49ers (0-2) [8:25pm NFLN]
I’m picking the Rams.

Sunday September 24th

Ravens (2-0) @ Jaguars (1-1) [9:30am YAHOO]
You’ll have to get up early Sunday morning and have access to Yahoo to watch this game. This game will be played at Wembley Stadium in London and broadcast locally in Baltimore, as well as streamed for free on Yahoo and BaltimoreRavens.com. It will not be available on DirecTV.
So, if you like pancakes and football, this game is for you! Get up, get your coffee, and watch some football. I’m picking the Jags for the win.

Saints (0-2) @ Panthers (2-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m taking the Panthers for the win.

NY Giants (0-2) @ Eagles (1-1)  [1pm FOX]
I’m not picking the Giants for the win, they don’t have an offense or an offensive line and they are pretty offensive. If the Giants were to win it would be because of their defense and a lot of Wentz interceptions. Go Giants, don’t let me down, oh wait, you already did.

Broncos (2-0) @ Bills (1-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Broncos.

Falcons (2-0) @ Lions (2-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Lions. They embarrassed the Giants, can they embarrass the Falcons?

Steelers (2-0) @ Bears (0-2) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Steelers

Browns (0-2) @ Colts (0-2) [1pm CBS]
Hmmmm Cleveland and Indy… Maybe the Browns will win… probably will end in a tie.  What the heck, I’ll pick the Browns for the win.

Buccaneers (1-0) @ Vikings (1-1) [1pm FOX]
I’ll pick the Vikings if Bradford plays, nah I’m picking the Bucs regardless.

Texans (1-1) @ Patriots (1-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Patriots.

Dolphins (1-0) @ Jets (0-2) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Dolphins for the win.

Seahawks (1-1) @ Titans (1-1) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m picking the Seahawks, but wouldn’t be surprised if the Titans pulled if off.

Bengals (0-2) @ Packers (1-1) [4:25pm CBS]
I’m picking the Packers. I hope Jordy is better.

Chiefs (2-0) @ Chargers (0-2) [4:25pm CBS]
I’m picking the Chiefs for the win.

Raiders (2-0) @ Redskins (1-1) [8:30pm NBC]
I’m picking the Raiders for the win.

Monday, September 25th

Cowboys (1-1) @ Cardinals (1-1) [8:30pm ESPN]
I’m picking the Cowboys but rooting for the Cardinals.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 2 '17 #theshenoapreport

The Shenoa Report
September 13, 2017
Regular Season Week 2

I am always surprised after the first week of the regular season; though I went 10-5 on my picks! Speaking of which, I watch “Inside The NFL” every week and my picks were better than all of the “insiders” Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason, and Ray Lewis! BOOM!  I am 1-1 in my fantasy leagues. Kenny Britt, Le’veon Bell, and the Patriots did not impress Fantasy Football Shenoa, rather, they failed to meet her expectations. Football Shenoa was heart broken by the NY Football Giants.

Let’s recap week one.

Chiefs @ Patriots 42-27
Even though I had the Pats defense and QB on one of my fantasy teams I was elated by the outcome of this game. Thanks KC for making the first game of the regular season memorable, and awesome.

Steelers @ Browns 21-18
Neither team looked great, especially Bell and Britt… Thanks a lot. In other news, at the conclusion of this game Big Ben now has more wins in Browns Stadium than any Cleveland QB. True Story.

Cardinals @ Lions 23-35
The Lions defense intercepted Carson Palmer 3 times! It was truly a great home opener of the Lions.

Jaguars @ Texans 29-7
It looked like Harvey was still in Houston destroying Texans’ hope of a football win.

Buccaneers @ Dolphins
It’s a good thing this game was postponed. Miami and Tampa look like war zones after Irma left the Sunshine State.

Raiders @ Titans 26-16
The Raiders looked good, especially Giorgia Tavecchio who was just signed this past Friday to fill in for Janikowski, Oakland’s kicker.  Tavecchio kicked four field goals 20, 52, 52, and 43 yards in his debut and didn’t miss any! Not bad for a newcomer.

Eagles @ Redskins 30-17
I was hoping for a tie but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Neither team really looked good. Both Wentz and Cousins had big mistakes under center, each throwing an interception.  With my Giants logic I found it better for the Eagles to win (even though I like them much less than the Redskins) because the Giants seem to struggle more with the Redskins than the Eagles.

Ravens @ Bengals 20-0
Shut out at home! Ouch. The Ginger had FOUR interceptions and one fumble. Definitely not his best game.

Falcons @ Bears 23-17
Maybe the Falcons should play from behind more often… at least the outcome was different than having the lead the entire game. No Super Bowl hangover for Atlanta.

Jets @ Bills 12-21
I wouldn’t say that the Bills looked good, I would say that the Jets looked abysmal.

Colts @ Rams 9-46
It only took a year and a new head coach to see the potential of Jared Goff, the QB for the Rams. Sometimes I guess moving is a good thing. It was for the Rams, now in LA, they have a winning team.

Seahawks @ Packers 9-17
The first half of this game was a game of punts. It wasn’t till the second half that someone reached the end zone. I mean, I guess someone did in the first quarter but it was called back by a bs call. Oh yeah, the refs are terrible this year.

Panthers @ 49ers 23-3
I’m glad for the sake of fantasy football that Cam finally got his act together and was able to complete a pass. I feel like this score should’ve been higher due to who they were playing, oh well.

NY Giants @ Cowboys 3-19
This game was terrible; I mean it was soooooo bad. I’m pretty sure my heart shattered a few different times. But I’m a glutton for punishment so I watched the entire monstrosity. Mike Tanier said it best,
“The Giants offensive line blocked like they just met on Thursday, lifted weights for the first time Friday and developed a personal grudge against Eli Manning on Saturday evening.”
Atrocious. That’s all I have to say about that.

Saints @ Vikings 19-29
The game might have looked close but it never really was. Minnesota dominated.

Chargers @ Broncos 21-24
It came down to the last play of the game where the Broncos defense blocked a field goal to send it into overtime. Did I stay up to watch this game? No I did not.

WEEK 2

Thursday September 14th

Texans (0-1) @ Bengals (0-1) [8:25pm NFLN]
Maybe the Texans will overcome in Cincinnati. Maybe the Bengals will score this week. These are both big maybes. I’ll take the Bengals to win their home opener.

Sunday September 17th

Bills (1-0) @ Panthers (1-0) [1pm CBS]
I’m going to take the Panthers at home.

Browns (0-1) @ Ravens (1-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Ravens.

Cardinals (0-1) @ Colts (0-1)  [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Cardinals; there is no Luck for the Colts.

Titans (0-1) @ Jaguars (1-0) [1pm CBS]
Against better judgment I’m going to pick the Jags.

Eagles (1-0) @ Chiefs (1-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Chiefs and rooting for them too!

Patriots (0-1) @ Saints (0-1) [1pm CBS]
I don’t think that the Pats are going to lose two in a row. It’d be funny, but I don’t think it’s very likely. I’m picking the Pats for the win.

Vikings (1-0) @ Steelers (1-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Steelers for the win, and Bell damn well better have an improved performance compared to last week.

Bears (0-1) @ Buccaneers (0-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Bucs to win.

Dolphins (0-0) @ Chargers (0-1) [4:05pm CBS]
I’m picking the Chargers for the win.

Jets (0-1) @ Raiders (1-0) [4:05pm CBS]
I’m picking the Raiders.

Cowboys (1-0) @ Broncos (1-0) [4:25pm FOX]
I’m taking the Broncos over the Cowboys

Redskins (0-1) @ Rams (1-0) [4:25pm FOX]
I hope the Rams can continue their win streak. I’m going with L.A. for the win.

49ers (0-1) @ Seahawks (0-1) [4:25pm FOX]
I’m picking the Seahawks.

Packers (1-0) @ Falcons (1-0) [8:30pm NBC]
I’m picking the Packers for the win. The Falcons home opener will bring back memories of their Super Bowl loss.

Monday, September 18th

Lions (1-0) @ NY Giants (0-1) [8:30pm ESPN]
I might be Ms. Cranky Pants Tuesday morning but I’m picking the Giants to win Monday night. GO GMEN! PLEASE WIN. PLEASE.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 1 '17 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
September 6, 2017
Regular Season Week 1

IT’S HERE! IT’S HERE! THE FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!!!!! And you know what that means; the Shenoa Report is back as well!!! Are you ready for some football?!?! If you’re a first time reader, welcome! And if you’re a loyal follower welcome back, I’ve missed you. I started this blog seven years ago after a number of people asked me for my opinion on football and what teams they should root for. Please know that I am very biased, and this report is just my opinion!

The last time I wrote, the Falcons and the Patriots were headed to the Super Bowl.  If you were like me you were rooting for the Falcons and were sorely disappointed in the outcome of the game. Fun fact, it was the first Super Bowl that went into overtime.

This is the first year in all of my years of playing fantasy football that I attended a live draft. It was fun and not as intense as I thought it would be. Thanks to my partner I was very prepared; he loves spreadsheets and made me one of the top 200 draft picks.  I was the only one with a spreadsheet on my laptop, or a laptop at all.
This is my first year in this new league but I am the returning champion in my other fantasy football league.

I am still in NY and very happy to be here. Eric made it through an entire football season with “Football Shenoa” and we are still going strong and ready for another season.

Football starts Thursday, so lets get back to it!

Lets see who’s playing whom in week one!!!!!

WEEK 1

Thursday September 7th

Chiefs @ Patriots (8:30pm NBC)
I’m picking the Pats.

Sunday September 10th

Steelers @ Browns (1pm CBS)
I’m picking the Steelers and rooting for the Browns, especially Kenny Britt, who is on one of my fantasy teams!

Cardinals @ Lions (1pm FOX)
I’m going to pick the Lions….

Jaguars @ Texans (1pm CBS)
This game will be played in Houston, surprisingly enough. I’m going to pick the Texans for the win.

Buccaneers @ Dolphins
THIS GAME HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO WEEK 11! Instead of a bye week both of these teams will be playing each other in week 11. With Hurricane Irma threatening Florida there will be no football on Sunday in the Sunshine State.

Raiders @ Titans  (1pm CBS)
Even though the Titans are home I’m going to pick the Raiders for the win.

Eagles @ Redskins (1pm FOX)
I’m going to pick the Redskins for the win.

Ravens @ Bengals (1pm CBS)
I’m going with the Bengals at home.

Falcons @ Bears (1pm FOX)
I’m picking the Falcons for the win, that’s if they can hold onto the lead…

Jets @ Bills (1pm CBS)
Well a NY team will most likely win this game. I’m picking the Bills for the win.

Colts @ Rams (4:05pm CBS)
Without Luck I’m picking the Rams for the win. Remember this game is in L.A. as the Rams have moved.

Seahawks @ Packers (4:25pm FOX)
I’m picking the Packers and hoping Jordy has a big game. God love fantasy football.

Panthers @ 49ers (4:25pm FOX)
I’m picking the Panthers for the win. Hey Panthers fans, I drafted Cam as my QB in one of my leagues, believe with me!

NY Giants @ Cowboys (8:30pm NBC)
In other news, the NY Football Giants are my most favorite team in the whole wide world so of course I’m going to pick them for the win. Also, they just happen to be my defense in fantasy… GO GMEN!!!!!!!!

Monday September 11th

Saints @ Vikings (7:10pm ESPN)
I’m picking the Vikings for the win.

Chargers @ Broncos (10:20pm ESPN)
I’m picking the Broncos for the win, and will have to read about this game because there is no way in hell I’ll be staying up to watch it.

Happy Week One!!!!! I hope your team wins! (Unless you’re a Dallas, Philly or, Washington fan) Told you I was biased!

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Thanks for the edit Eric!
