Regular Season Week 12

As a Colts and Giants fan, last week sucked. It’s taken me a couple of days to cool down but I am sitting here in my Giants t-shirt and Colts hoodie writing this report. My teams can make mistakes but I’m going to stand by them. I am not a fair-weather fan and I hope that with your teams you are also diehard fans, no one wants fair-weather friends and neither do football teams. I’m just glad my dad raised me as a Giants fan and not a Bills fan. ; )
Am I the only one who thinks that this football season has been quite the “soap opera”? More so than previous seasons…we’ve got usurpers, scapegoats, malicious playing, the “he said, she said” BS.  There are guys being fired, guys “trading teams”, hitting, crying, and yelling…it’s ridiculous. And that’s just the Vikings.  I kid, I kid. No, it’s happening around the whole league.  At least it keeps the sports writers busy with a lot to write about. This past week has been no different from the first 10 weeks of football. Let’s recap.

Chicago @ Miami 16-0
Miami gets shut out at home.  With Miami’s injury-ridden team the Bears walked all over them allowing Miami only one 3rd down conversion. You’ve got to give it to “Da Bears” though; they played a tough game and are now at the top of the NFC North with a record of 7-3. Miami is now 5-5.

Baltimore @ Carolina 37-13
In talking about fair-weather fans I’m going to have to call out Panthers’ fans, put yourself in the cleats of the guys on the field every Sunday at home games. How would you do if you looked up in the stands and almost all the seats were empty after a not so productive 1st half? Shame on you, you fair-weather Panthers fans!  Do you go to your children’s concerts and walk out halfway through if the kids have some off notes? Maybe, just maybe the Panthers would play better if their fans didn’t give up on them quite so easily. No one likes to watch their team lose (it’s ugly, I can attest to that after last week) but try to stay with them until the end of the game.
I’ll step off my soapbox now.
On a side note the Ravens looked pretty spectacular. Baltimore is now 7-3 and Carolina is 1-9 with the worst record in the NFL this season.

Buffalo @ Cincinnati 49-31
Hey Buffalo, where’d you come from?!?!?! What a comeback! 5 unanswered TDs in the 2nd half! 3 of which were by Steve Johnson, who I am proud to say is on my fantasy football team and definitely helped me with the win last week. If the Giants couldn’t win it was good to see the other two NY teams win. Buffalo is now 2-8 and Cincinnati is 2-8

Detroit @ Dallas 19-35
Dear Detroit, this is unacceptable and it better not happen again next week. Dallas now has 3 wins under their belt. Was it because of the coaching change? Who knows? Dallas is now 3-7 and Detroit is 2-8

Cleveland @ Jacksonville 20-24
The Browns couldn’t pull of the win but it was a good, close game. When it’s not your team playing, these are the kind of games that are entertaining and fun to watch. I prefer to have a huge lead, or cushion if you will, when I watch my team. Cleveland is now 3-7 and Jacksonville is 6-4

Arizona @ Kansas City 13-31
This game played out just like I thought, with another Arizona loss. Arizona is now 3-7 KC is 6-4

Green Bay @ Minnesota 31-3
Well, another one bites the dust. Brad Childress was fired after this loss but is anyone really surprised? I’m not. The Vikings are now in the run for last place but there is good competition there with the Panthers. If they keep playing Favre I’m pretty sure they’ll be pretty close to achieving that 1st pick in the 2011 draft.
Green Bay had a great game with that classy Aaron Rogers leading the team to quite the victory. GB is now 7-3 and Minnesota is 3-7

Houston @ New York Jets 27-30
The comeback kids win another game. One thing is for sure the Jets do not quit. Nice playing boys. The Jets are now 8-2 and the Texans are 4-6

Oakland @ Pittsburgh 3-35
If you can’t beat them on the field try to physically assault them on the field. That seemed to be Seymour’s philosophy anyway. Was it worth the $25,000? I know if I could afford that kind of penalty and Roethlisberger was running his mouth I’d probably pop him one too. Just sayin’. But then again I’m not a fan of Big Ben by any means. At least he picked on someone his own size this time… anyway … the Steelers got their win and are now 7-3 and Oakland falls to 5-5

Washington @ Tennessee 19-16 OT
This was a GREAT game, and one of those games I talked about earlier being that it was an entertaining, close game. I was happy to see Washington pull off the win but with the Giants loss I can’t be rooting for the Redskins anymore. Way to pull off the win in OT Washington. Washington is now 5-5 and Tennessee is 5-5

Seattle @ New Orleans 19-34
This game should have come with no surprise with a Saints win. New Orleans is now 7-3 and Seattle is 5-5

Tampa Bay @ San Francisco 21-0

Another shutout at home this week. The 49ers are now 3-7 and the Bucs are 7-3

Atlanta @ Saint Louis 34-17
Saint Louis is really struggling but Atlanta should be getting some credit with one of the best records in the NFL this season.  It was a disappointing loss and I would really have liked to see the Rams pull off an upset. But sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way you’d like it to.  Atlanta is now 8-2 Saint Louis is 4-6

Indianapolis @ New England 28-31
I HATE the Pats. And it pains me to recap this game. So I’ll say just this…. Peyton, I love you but you’ve got to stop throwing interceptions. You’re killing me. But I love you and I believe in you and the Indianapolis Colts it just sucks that you wouldn’t stomp the Pats in their house. Don’t worry you’ve got the next one. The Colts are now 6-4 and the Pats are 8-2

New York Giants @ Philadelphia
I HATE THE EAGLES!!!!!!!!!! PS I’m visiting my brother and his wife for Thanksgiving in Dover, DE and we went to the mall today where there were copious amounts of Philly fans… I did a lot of hissing and may have even threw up in my mouth a little bit when walking into the sports store and seeing all the Eagles paraphernalia. True Story. Like I just said to Peyton I will now say to Eli. Eli, I love you but you have got to stop throwing interceptions and for the love of God learn to slide! You’re killing me, but I love you and I believe in you and the GMEN so get it done next week. Yes it sucks that you lost to the Eagles but you’ll get another chance on December 19 to beat them at home. I will consider that win a late birthday present. The Giants are now 6-4 and the Eagles are 7-3 and at the Top of the NFC East for just this week I hope.

Denver @ San Diego 14-35
Phillip Rivers was on fire Monday night with 4 TDs bringing the Chargers to a big victory over the Broncos. The Chargers are now 5-5 and the Broncos are 3-7.

WEEK 12
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

New England @ Detroit
Brady is listed as questionable for this game and all my dreams would come true if the Lions win. Can we say Thanksgiving miracle? Lets hope so.

New Orleans @ Dallas
I don’t think it will take a Thanksgiving miracle for the Saints to beat the Cowboys but just in case I’m asking for another miracle of sorts.  Go Saints!

Cincinnati @ New York Jets
And to cap off the best Thanksgiving ever I will pick the Jets to beat the Bengals.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving and may your team win unless your team is the Patriots, Cowboys, or Bengals.  I brought my Lions hat to wear for the big day and I have the pleasure of watching the game with a Pats fan…. I’m sure there will be stories about it next week. Stay tuned.

Green Bay @ Atlanta
This will be a defining game for the Packers to see what they are made of. They have had a pretty cake schedule so far this season. Atlanta, on the other hand, has had a decent schedule so Green Bay better bring their A-Game. I’m going to pick GB and hope they win.

Pittsburgh @ Buffalo
I would love, love, LOVE for Buffalo to win but I am not betting on it. Please prove me wrong Bills. Please.

Carolina @ Cleveland
McCoy is out and Delhomme is in just in time for the big game against Carolina. This may be one game Jakie will win with Carolina on the field. We will just have to see who he throws to more. Hopefully Cleveland.

Tennessee @Houston
This is a divisional game in which I hope Houston wins so that Tennessee doesn’t get in front of Indi. Go Texans

Jacksonville @ New York Giants
I’m going with the Giants. Eli is going to have a great game even without Nicks on the field. We are going to bounce back and win. And this will be a double win for me because it should put the Colts back on top of their division as well.

Minnesota @ Washington
A Vikings win would help my Giants.  Will Leslie Frazier, the interim head coach, bring a Vikings win? Maybe, if he benches Favre.

Miami @ Oakland
The Raiders were embarrassed last week as well as Miami. I think that Oakland will come out on top this Sunday.

Kansas City @ Seattle
I still don’t know how both these teams are at the top of their division. It should be a pretty even game nonetheless. I’ll take Seattle this week.

Tampa Bay @ Baltimore
Man I hope the Ravens win this one. Both teams have the same record so this should be another good game to watch.

Philadelphia @ Chicago
This is another case when my mind says one thing but my heart says another. I’m going with my heart and going with Chicago! PS I HATE PHILLY.

Saint Louis @ Denver
I’m going to have to go with Denver but hopefully Sam Bradford will have a good game

San Diego @ Indianapolis
The Colts are going to get out of their funk and win this game. Sorry Nayiri I hope both of your teams lose this week because both my teams lost last week.
I hope the Colts come back and come back BIG

San Francisco @ Arizona
Both teams are in the NFC West and are at the bottom of their division so this is a game of last place… another toilet bowl if you will. Arizona I am picking you for the win one last time. Don’t let me down.

GO GIANTS AND GO COLTS!!!!!!!! Enjoy!

PS Thanks to my brother (the grammar nazi) and his wife for editing this for me!
