Regular Season Week 12

Week 12 brings Byemageddon Part 1 in fantasy football. With 6 teams on their bye this week, fantasy managers are scrambling.  I’m not scrambling though. Mostly because my teams just aren't good this season.  The best news of week 12 for me is that the Giants benched Daniel Jones in their bye week so it’s Tommy DeVito Time!  Hooray! A new, more entertaining way to lose games! But seriously, Daniel Jones was a class act. Like Eli Manning, he never complained, and when he got knocked down he got back up. He didn’t have an O line to protect him his first 5 years. He got knocked down a lot. Thanks Danny for being a Giant.

I went 11-3 on my picks last week and won in one league and lost in the other.  “CMC Ya Next Season” (5-6),  “Won’t You Be My Nabers” (3-8).

Let’s jump into the recap.

Commanders @ Eagles 18-26

Even with Saquon scoring back to back touchdowns in this win over the Commanders it wasn’t enough fantasy points for me to win in one league. This was a good competitive game to watch. It’s a shame Jayden Daniels has to play with a rib injury. He was so much better before he got hurt, and I think the Commanders would have won if he was healthy.

Ravens @ Steelers 16-18

Starting Russell Wilson this week in fantasy was a mistake. I’m glad they won the game but not happy about the lack of fantasy points from Russell.

Jaguars @ Lions 6-52

Fun Fact. This was the first game in NFL history that ended in this score. The Lions are dominating everyone. I’m glad to see they are finally having winning seasons constantly. It gives me hope for the Giants.

Rams @ Patriots 28-22

Well, I got this pick wrong. It’s my own fault. I forgot how bad the Patriots were. Oh well.

Browns @ Saints 14-35

I picked up Taysom Hill and started him in place of an injured Sam LaPorta this week. Man oh man am I glad I did that. Hill logged 42.52 fantasy points on 18 passing yards, 7 rushes for 138 yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, and 8 receptions for 50 yards. Had he not thrown an interception or fumbled the ball, he would have had closer to 50 points!  Not a bad pickup if I do say so myself.

Colts @ Jets 28-27

The Jets fired their GM after this loss. It’s bad. Let this be a lesson on listening to the wise words of Aaron Rodgers.  On the other side of the field, Anthony Richardson had his best game of the season. I guess when you get benched and you get the job back you show your team that you are happy to be back as a starter.

Vikings @ Titans 23-13

The Vikings did win this game, yes, but I don’t think that they are as dominant as they were at the beginning of the season. Also, the Titans are just really bad.

Raiders @ Dolphins 19-34

The Dolphins  are back in the win column but they are finding new ways to win games. Tyreek Hill hasn’t been the playmaker we were all accustomed to seeing. Instead it was their tight end Jonu Smith that stole the show. Smith had two receiving touchdowns in this win over the Raiders.

Packers @ Bears 20-19

I really didn’t think this game would be close or competitive. The Bears lost another heartbreaking game, this time to a division opponent. Packers Karl Brooks blocked Cairo Santos' kick from 46 yards as time expired to give Green Bay the win.

Falcons @  Broncos 6-38

I guess Kirk Cousins is only good the first part of the season. The Falcons are falling apart while the Broncos, led by rookie QB Bo Nix, continue to pick up steam. Nix had zero interceptions and 4 passing touchdowns to Cousins’ zero touchdowns and one interception day. Nix had his career best day by completing 85% of his passes for 307 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Seahawks @ 49ers 20-17

This is the third and last pick I got wrong last week. It wasn’t Geno Smith’s arm that led his team to victory, it was his legs. Smith scrambled then scurried his way into the endzone in the final seconds of the game to give the Seahawks an unlikely win. Smith may be a Golden State Warrior fan, or he really knows how to push buttons with the home crowd, because after his winning touchdown score he gave the iconic Steph Curry “night night” pose to the crowd. I’m a Steph fan and not a Geno fan and I believe in Karma. That’s all I’m saying.

Chiefs @ Bills 21-30

I did it! My prediction came true! I predicted that the Bills would end the Chiefs perfect season this game and they did! I even got a football call from my father after the game. We were both happy that the Bills won and decided, moving forward, we should probably just call each other on Bills wins rather than waiting for the Giants to win a game.  Josh Allen clinched the Bills win with a rushing touchdown with just over two minutes left in the game. This game has become quite the rivalry game and it did not disappoint. Unless you are a Chiefs fan… Go BILLS!

Bengals @ Chargers 27-34

The Bengals struggled to get the lead back all game after scoring the first points.  Ultimately, they failed to do so. The Chargers led by 21 points before the Bengals tried to make their comeback. It was just too little too late.

Texans @ Cowboys 34-10

Last week's excuse was the sun was in their eyes and that's why they lost the game. This week's game was a night game so what was the excuse? The sky is falling? Well part of the Cowboys stadium roof did fall before the game. Only one Texas team had a good night and it wasn’t the Cowboys. Texans RB Joe Mixon had 3 touchdowns in this romp over their in-state rivals. Also, the Texans never trailed while handing the Cowboys their 5th straight loss. Beautiful.

WEEK 12

Thursday, November 21st

Steelers (8-2) @ Browns (2-8) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)

The Steelers, historically, do not play the Browns well. This is always a fun matchup to watch. The last time these two met the Browns won 13-10 though the Steelers lead the series record 79-62-1. I think I’ll pick the Steelers to win this one.

Sunday, November 24th

Buccaneers (4-6) @ NY Giants (2-8) (1pm CBS)

If we’re lucky, which Giants fans aren’t, we’ll never have to watch Daniel Jones quarterback for the NY Giants ever again! Jones was benched last week during the bye week and Tommy Devito has been named the starter of the team with Drew Lock as the backup. It’s been interesting to hear all the talk that has surrounded this benching. I, for one, am eliated. You know what I think of DJ as a QB. I’m sure he’s a really nice, stand up guy. He’s strong and tenacious. He’s just not a good quarterback. According to reports, anonymous team members are furious at his benching. Dexter Lawrence has come out publicly saying DJ is the best quarterback on the team and doesn’t understand why he’s being benched. Love you Sexy, but have you not watched the tape? Ultimately Jones is being benched because, well one, he sucks, and two, money. If Jones were to continue to start and then get injured the Giants organization would owe him much more money if he couldn't finish the season. Jones has a $23 million injury guarantee in his contract. If he suffers a major injury that will prevent him from passing a physical in mid-March, the Giants will be on the hook for $12 million. Another $11 million would become guaranteed at the start of next season. The savings from cutting Jones this offseason would be wiped out if the injury guarantee was triggered. So, basically, the Giants are doing what the Broncos did to Russell Wilson. The only difference was Russell was good AND winning games for Denver. DJ, not so much.

Anyway. This game. Well, Mike Evans is supposed to be back in the lineup for the Bucs, which should help Baker Mayfield get back on track. I am picking the Bucs to win this game. Go G-MEN.

Chiefs (9-1) @ Panthers (3-7) (1pm CBS)

I think the Chiefs will get back on track this week and win against the Panthers.

Cowboys (3-7) @ Commanders (7-4) (1pm FOX)

The Cowboys are the only team in the NFL to have not won a home game yet this season. Welp, I’m sure they’ll lose to the Commanders on the road this week. I’m picking Washington to win this game.

Patriots (3-8) @ Dolphins (4-6) (1pm CBS)

I am picking the Dolphins to win this game. I could be wrong. Division rivals are always fun to watch.

Titans (2-8) @ Texans (7-4) (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Texans to win this game. The Titans will continue to ride the struggle bus.

Lions (9-1) @ Colts (5-6) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Lions to win this game. If I haven’t said it yet, I am also predicting them to make it to the Super Bowl.

Vikings (8-2) @ Bears (4-6) (1pm FOX)

This is another divisional game in which I think the Vikings will win, but I hope the Bears figure out how to throw to D.J. Moore much more.

Broncos  (6-5) @ Raiders (2-8) (4:05pm CBS)

I’m picking the Broncos to win this game. It’d be nice if they didn’t allow the Raiders to score a single point. Yes, I am starting the Broncos defense.

49ers (5-5) @  Packers (7-3) (4:25pm FOX)

The 49ers lost last week. They need to get back on track. Also, I’m playing a big Packers fan in fantasy and he is starting what seems like the entire team. I am starting a lot of 49ers myself. The Packers have home field advantage which helps a lot in Green Bay. I think I’ll pick the Packers to win this game, but only because they are home.

Cardinals (6-4)  @ Seahawks (5-5) (4:25pm FOX)

It’s an angry birds game! I’m picking the Seahawks to win but I hope that Marvin Harrison Jr has his best day yet in the NFL. I need points, guys!

Eagles (8-2) @ Rams (5-5) (8:20pm NBC/Peacock)

I’ll be rooting for the Rams and hoping they can upset the Eagles, but I am picking the Eagles to win this game. I just hope I’m wrong.

Monday, November 25th

Ravens (7-4) @ Chargers (7-3) (8:15pm ABC/ESPN)

The Ravens have lost some super close games as of late. I think they will beat the Chargers this week.

BYES: Bills, Falcons, Jaguars, Bengals, Saints, Jets

GO G-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!
