Regular Season Week 8

My partner is a very wise human. He says, no matter how big or small, you’ve got to take and celebrate your wins. I’ve been so damn discouraged in my fantasy teams and my NY Giants. I haven’t had a win in fantasy in either league since week 2 and we’re going into week 8! But this past week I went 13-2 in picks! I’m celebrating that win.

I’m also celebrating the NY Yankees making it to the World Series, the NY Rangers doing well this season, as well as the NBA season getting started.

As we head into week 8 the Chiefs are the only undefeated team. My fantasy teams, not so much. “CMC Ya Next Season” (2-5), “Won’t You Be My Nabers” (2-5).

Let’s jump into the recap!

Broncos @ Saints 33-10

Sean Payton, current head coach of the Broncos and former head coach of the Saints, has now beaten every team in the NFL. That’s pretty cool. Broncos linebacker Cody Barton had an incredible game, recording eight tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery that he returned 52 yards for a touchdown. Hooray for my defense.

Patriots @ Jaguars 16-32

There is rumor that the Patriots head coach may lose his job soon, as in mid-season. Ouch. The Jags are now 6-5 in London with this win.

Titans @ Bills 10-34

I’m so glad I held onto Amari Cooper in fantasy, he had an amazing game on my bench. Whoops. But would you have started Cooper over Deebo Samuel? No you would not. Josh Allen, the Bills' quarterback, celebrated his 100th career start with a stellar performance, throwing for 323 yards and two touchdowns. Thanks for the win, sidepiece.

Texans @ Packers 22-24

The Packers pulled off a dramatic victory with a game-winning 45-yard field goal by Brandon McManus as time expired. This was McManus' first game with the Packers after signing earlier in the week, and he nailed the kick after Houston called a timeout to ice him

Eagles @ NY Giants 28-3

I watched this game long enough to hear Saquon get BOOOOOOED. It was the highlight of the game for me. After he scored a touchdown I promptly turned the game off and went outside and mowed the lawn.

Lions @ Vikings 31-29

The Lions beat their division rival AND gave them their first loss of the season. Way to go Lions!

Seahawks @ Falcons 34-14

The best moment in this game was Derick Hall's 64-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Hall scooped up a fumble caused by Boye Mafe and ran it back for a score, sealing the Seahawks' dominant victory. It was Hall's first career touchdown and a huge play that really put the game out of reach for the Falcons.

Bengals @ Browns 21-14

The Bengals started the game off with a Charlie Jones kickoff return for a touchdown.

This was the first time the Bengals have opened a game with a kickoff return touchdown since 2019. On the other side of the field the Browns lost their starting quarterback, Deshawn Watson, to a season ending injury. No one was broken up over this.

Dolphins @ Colts 10-16

As you may have noticed I’ve been trying to find a fun fact for each game recap. I’ve got nothing for this game.

Panthers @ Commanders 7-40

Here’s a fun fact. The Commanders used a play call named after Taylor Swift to score a touchdown. TE, Ben Sinnott, caught a three-yard pass from Marcus Mariota in the third quarter, and the play was called "Taylor Swift." It was a simple route where Sinnott faked a block and then turned the corner for an easy score. But honestly, every score is an easy score playing the Panthers.

Raiders @ Rams 15-20

The Rams defense hasn’t been good since Aaron Donald retired, but this game was different. Their defense forced four turnovers and held off the Raiders especially after QB Aidan O’Connell got injured and the Raiders had to put in their third string qb.

Chiefs @ 49ers 28-18

The 49ers still haven’t gotten their revenge on the Chiefs. Also, this was the first game that KC actually looked legit. Chiefs' running back Kareem Hunt scored two rushing touchdowns, marking his sixth-career regular season game with multiple rushing touchdowns and his fourth such game with Kansas City. Glad I picked him up in fantasy. Maybe, one day, he’ll actually put up enough points to get me the win too.

Jets @ Steelers 15-37

Russell Wilson made an impressive debut with his new team, throwing for 264 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for another touchdown. Davante Adams, who was just traded to the Jets earlier in the week, lost to the Steelers two weeks in a row.

Ravens @ Buccaneers 41-31

This was a frustrating game and one of the two picks I got incorrect. The Bucs lost both Mike Evans, for a few weeks, and Chris Godwin, for the season, in this game and loss. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw for an impressive five touchdowns, marking his third career game with 50-plus rushing yards and five passing touchdowns. Lame.

Chargers @ Cardinals 15-17

The game came down to a nail-biting finish with the Cardinals winning thanks to a 32-yard field goal by Chad Ryland as time expired. Marvin Harrison Jr was lackluster again thanks to Kylar Murry. The Chargers' offense, led by Justin Herbert, who threw for 349 yards, couldn't convert their yardage into touchdowns and had to settle for five field goals by Cameron Dicker. It’s ok, the game was on ESPN+ so who knows how many people actually watched.

WEEK 8

Thursday, October 24th

Vikings (5-1) @ Rams (2-4) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)

I’m picking the Vikings to win this game.

Sunday, October 27th

Jets (2-5) @ Patriots (1-6) (1pm CBS)

This game will probably end in a tie and if the Jets win the Patriots will probably fire their head coach. I’m picking the Jets to win this game.

Eagles (4-2) @ Bengals (3-4) (1pm CBS)

I’ll be rooting for the Bengals but picking the Eagles to win this game.

Packers (5-2) @ Jaguars (2-5) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Packers to win this game.

Titans (1-5) @ Lions (5-1) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Lions to win this game.

Falcons (4-3) @ Buccaneers (4-3) (1pm FOX)

I’m not sure who Baker is going to throw to now that Godwin is out for the season and Evans is out for the foreseeable future. I’ll be rooting for the Bucs but picking the Falcons to win.

Cardinals (3-4) @ Dolphins (2-4) (1pm FOX)

Tua is supposed to be back for the Dolphins so I am picking Miami to win.

Ravens (5-2) @ Browns (1-6) (1pm CBS)

Yeah. I’m picking the Ravens to win this game. There is no chance for the Browns.

Colts (4-3) @ Texans (5-2) (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Texans to win and hoping C.J. Stroud has a much better game.

Saints (2-5) @ Chargers (3-3) (4:05pm FOX)

I’m picking the Chargers to win but wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints pulled off the upset.

Bills (5-2) @ Seahawks (4-3) (4:05pm FOX)

I’m rooting for and picking the Bills to win this game.

Bears (4-2) @ Commanders (5-2) (4:25pm CBS)

I’ll be rooting for the Bears but picking the Commanders to win.

Panthers (1-6) @ Broncos (4-3) (4:25pm CBS)

I’m picking the Broncos to win this game.

Chiefs (6-0) @ Raiders (2-5) (4:25pm CBS)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Maxx Crosby was the next guy to seek a trade from the Raiders. I’m picking the Chiefs to win. Also, someone dropped D-Hop in my fantasy league so I scooped him up and, in real life, he’s now a Chief!

Cowboys (3-3) @ 49ers (3-4) (8:20pm NBC/Peacock)

The Cowboys are fresh off their bye. It doesn’t matter. I am still picking the 49ers to win!

Monday, October 28th

NY Giants (2-5) @ Steelers (5-2) (8:15pm ABC/ESPN.ESPN+)

Just be gentle, Pittsburgh. I'm picking the Steelers to win. I’ll be watching the World Series. It’s too painful to watch the Giants until there is a quarterback change.

GO G-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!
