The Shenoa Report
September 13, 2018
Regular Season Week 2
This week I am writing you from Burlington, VT! Eric and I
finally got to take a vacation. After a day of going to breweries I am sitting
down to write the Shenoa Report. I am always surprised after the first week of
the regular season though I went 9-5-1 on my picks! The “1” is for the Browns
NOT LOSING! They tied the Steelers in overtime. I guess “Hardknocks” paid off
for Cleveland. I mean, at least they didn’t lose. Week one came with so many injuries.
I know that I am now without a #1 TE in fantasy after week one and I am not the
only one that suffered a loss. Keanu Neal, Saftey, Falcons, Delanie Walker, TE,
Marcus Mariota, QB, Taylor Lewan, OT, Titans, DeSean Jackson, WR, Buccaneers, Greg Olsen,
TE, Panthers, Leonard Fournette, RB, Jaguars, Trae Waynes, CB, Vikings, Sentrel
Henderson, OT, Texans, Randy Gregoryk, DE, Cowboys, Joe Haden, CB, Steelers,
and Jeremy Hill, RB, Patriots all suffered injuries in week one, some of them
season ending. Despite injuries, I am 1-0 in my fantasy league. The Giants let
me down, but after last season I am already used to it so it didn’t phase me as
much as it did last year.
Let’s recap week one.
Falcons @ Eagles 12-18
This game was pretty ugly like a typical Thursday night
football game. The Eagles used some of the same tricks as they did in the Super
Bowl to beat the Falcons like, Nick Foles playing wide receiver for one play
and catching a pass.
Bills @ Ravens 3-47
So, ummmm. Sorry Bills fans… I didn’t really watch this game
because every time I changed the channel back to this game Baltimore scored. I
somehow thought if I stopped checking up on the Bills they would do better.
They did not and now we are going to have to hear Ray Lewis talking about how
amazing the Ravens are. Did you know that Ray Lewis played for the Baltimore
Ravens? Let’s just say if you played a drinking game while watching “Inside the
NFL” on Showtime and had to drink every time Ray Lewis said he played for the
Ravens you might not be able to stand up by the end of the show.
Texans @ Patriots 20-27
Deshawn Watson didn’t have a game that Texans were hoping
for. He stuttered in his return and even though the score looked close enough
the game never seemed to be in Houston’s reach.
Jaguars @ NY Giants 20-15
Unfortunately, I was right. The Giants still have a lot of
growing to do. They had bursts of greatness but they also made a lot of stupid
mistakes. Holding on offense, muffed punts, stupid penalties. Eli, on the other hand, didn’t look too
shabby. It was great having OBJ back and catching passes! Saquan got a slow
start but did have a rushing touchdown, which made me super happy. I blame
myself for his slow start, as it wasn’t until after I put on my Barkley jersey
and football leggings that Saquan started to get into the swing of things.
Buccaneers @ Saints 48-40
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 4 touchdowns, not interceptions to
help the Bucs beat the Saints in week one. Yes, you read that sentence
correctly. Ryan Fitzpatrick, I know, it’s crazy. I think it’s a fluke.
Bengals @ Colts 34-23
The Colts looked like they were going to win the game until
the Ginger showed up and brought the Bengals to a late victory.
49ers @ Vikings 16-24
Garoppolo lost his first game in the NFL, throwing a couple
of interceptions to the Vikings. Cousins, on the other hand, had a great debut
in Minnesota. It was hard for me to root
for Kirk, but I have to being that he’s my starting QB in fantasy.
Steelers @ Browns 21-21 OT
After an entire season of winless games the Cleveland Browns
started this season undefeated, with a tie. Hey, at least it’s not a loss. Now
the Steelers are the team that has to live with not being able to beat the
Browns this season. It was an ugly game,
in the rain and high winds, but very entertaining to watch.
Titans @ Dolphins 20-27
This was easily the longest game of the day. Starting at 1pm
and not ending till after 8pm. Delays
for lightning stretched this game out and when they were actually able to play
it turned out very costly for the Titans who had 3 injuries, some season
ending.
Redskins @ Cardinals 24-6
Alex Smith looked right at home in a Redskins uniform, in
other news the Cardinals looked terrible.
Chiefs @ Chargers 38-28
Tyreek Hill had 3 touchdowns in the Chiefs win over the
Chargers. Of course, in my stupid league I only got points for 2 of the
touchdowns because one of them was a punt return for a touchdown. Not that I’m
bitter about it or anything. I hope Hill continues to have 3 touchdown games
throughout the season. Patrick Mahomes had four touchdowns and looks to be
ready to take on the position of starting quarterback.
Cowboys @ Panthers 8-16
Carolina ran all over the Cowboys Sunday, even with the loss
of Greg Olson for the season. I hope their backup does just as well for the
rest of the season, as I picked him up after losing my TE to season ending
injury. Dallas never really looked like
a threat, which bodes really well for this Giants fan.
Seahawks @ Broncos 24-27
The legion of boom is now more like the legion of boo. The
Seahawks were no match for the Broncos as the defense knocked around Russell
Wilson with sacks and fumbles to boot.
Bears @ Packers 23-24
The Bears had this game. Aaron Rodgers went out on a cart
with an injury in the first half only to return in the second half and win the
game for Green Bay.
Jets @ Lions 48-17
Even though the Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold threw a pick 6 with
his very first career pass the Jets bounced back and routed the Lions in this
unlikely game on Monday night.
Rams @ Raiders 33-13
There was a lot of speculation with the Rams starters
sitting out the entire preseason but it seemed to work when they stomped the
Raiders and ruined Jon Gruden’s coaching return.
WEEK 2
Thursday September 13th
Ravens @ Bengals (8:20pm NFL)
The Ravens should be able to beat the Bengals judging by their
annihilation of the Bills last week. I’m picking the Ravens for the win.
Sunday September 16th
Chargers @ Bills (1pm CBS)
The Bills have some serious work to do. I’m going to have to
pick the Chargers for the win until the Bills can at least find the field in a
football game.
Panthers @ Falcons (1pm FOX)
I think that with Greg Olson out for the unforeseen future
the Panthers are going to be a little off kilter. I’m going to pick the Falcons
to win because they are still pretty angry about losing to the Eagles in week
one.
Vikings @ Packers (1pm FOX)
Aaron Rodgers is still questionable coming into this game.
If he plays the whole game I’m picking the Packers to win. If Aaron can’t play
I’m picking the Vikings to win. Ultimately I’m picking the Packers to win.
Texans @ Titans (1pm CBS)
With all the injuries the Titans sustained in week one I’m
going to have to pick the Texans to win this game. I also think I’m going to
have to find another defense in fantasy. (I currently have the Titans defense)
Browns @ Saints (1pm FOX)
I’m predicting that the Browns get their first loss of the
season.
Dolphins @ Jets (1pm CBS)
After last week’s win we’ll see if it was just a fluke or
real life. I’m picking the Jets to beat the Dolphins.
Chiefs @ Steelers (1pm CBS)
I think I’m going to pick the Chiefs to win, as long as Bell
continues his hold out.
Eagles @ Buccaneers (1pm FOX)
I’m picking the Eagles to win because I think the Bucs week
one win was a freak win.
Colts @ Redskins (1pm CBS)
I’m picking the Redskins to win. Alex Smith is great.
Cardinals @ Rams (4:05pm FOX)
I’m picking the Rams to win. I don’t think that the
Cardinals have a chance.
Lions @ 49ers (4:05pm FOX)
I’m picking the 49ers to win. I think they will work out
their kinks.
Raiders @ Broncos (4:25pm CBS)
Denver surprised me last week and I think they will also win
their home opener.
Patriots @ Jaguars (4:25pm CBS)
Without Fournette I don’t think that the Jags will beat the
Pats. I mean I hope they do but I’m picking the Pats for the win.
NY Giants @ Cowboys (8:20pm NBC)
If, and only if, the Giants can fix their stupid mistakes I
think they can beat the Cowboys. I’m going to pick the Giants to win this game.
GO GMEN!!!!
Monday September 17th
Seahawks @ Bears (8:15pm ESPN)
The Seahawks are starting the season with a lot of injuries.
I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I’m going to pick the Bears to win.
GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
