Championship Weekend

We are now down to 4 teams left. This is the Championship weekend. The divisional weekend was crazy exciting, can’t wait for the recap. I went 2-2 on my picks, which I’m ok with, being that I refuse to pick the Pats and I’m glad that the Panthers won. Let’s jump right into the recap.

Chiefs @ Patriots 20-27
The score makes it look like it was a close game but it really wasn’t in my opinion. I’m sorry the Chiefs weren’t able to knock off the Pats but I’m not surprised either. I’m beginning to the think that Gronk isn’t really human, not like I actually believe in greek gods but the guy reminds me of Thor… Just wish he played for the Giants, that’s all.

Packers @ Cardinals 20-26 OT
This game though… wow. I mean, where do I start? This was a GREAT game especially if you didn’t have a dog in the fight. The Cardinals thought they had it won but then Aaron Rodgers, for the second time THIS SEASON, threw a hail mary pass for a touchdown to tie the game at the end of regulation.  Then the coin didn’t flip during the coin toss so the ref flipped it again and the Cardinals got the ball. Larry Fitzgerald then pretty much played like Larry and won the game. Epic game. Super tough to watch if you are a Packers fan, but a hell of a game regardless.

Seahawks @ Panthers 31-24
Before this game came on I had decided to root for the Panthers even though I had picked the Seahawks to win. I put my Panthers t-shirt on and settled in. the first half was ALL Carolina. At one point I thought every child in the stadium was going to get a ball just because they seemed to be scoring at will, and whenever the Panthers scored a kid would get a ball. The first kid’s face was priceless, google it.  (I’d probably make the same face as an adult if I was in the same position). The Seahawks mounted a pretty epic comeback but ran out of time, which was pretty great news for the Panthers.

Steelers @ Broncos 16-23
I had a wardrobe change after the Panthers game and put on my Peyton Manning jersey for good measure.  So glad Peyton is back and so, so glad the Broncos beat the Steelers. It was a great end to a great weekend

CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND

Sunday January 24th

Patriots @ Broncos [3:05pm CBS]
MANNING VS BRADY for what may be the last time in football history. In listening to sports radio all week they are saying the Broncos don’t even stand a chance at beating the Patriots. I have the dumb and dumber mentality in saying “so you’re telling me there IS a chance” I’ve painted my nails (they are orange and blue with little broncos on every finger), and I am wearing my#18 Manning jersey and my Broncos hat. I’m ready for this game. I just hope the Broncos are too. My friend Mike (who is a Patriots fan) says that the Patriots are going to win 28-27.  I don’t have it in my heart to pick against Peyton in which I hope it’s not the last game of his career. I’m going with the Broncos, even though I’ll be more surprised if I’m right. GO DENVER!!!!!

Cardinals @ Panthers [6:40pm FOX]
This is the first time in NFL history where two QB Heismen trophy winners will head off in a championship game, Palmer and Newton. I’m pulling for Carolina for obvious reasons, the only question I have is do I wear my Panthers t-shirt or my Jake Delhomme jersey? GO PANTHERS.

Thanks for the edit Mom!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Divisonal Weekend '16

Divisional Weekend

We are now down to 8 teams left. This is the Divisional weekend. Before we talk about this weekend I feel there are some things that I need to address. The LA Rams, coaching changes and Black Monday, and what was the worst way to lose.
Let’s start with the L.A. Rams, yes you read that right, the Rams are moving from St. Louis to L.A. The Chargers have a year to make a decision to move too, and if they turn the opportunity down the Raiders will have a chance at a move to L.A. as well.
There have been a lot of coaching changes since the regular season ended. Last week I spoke of our beloved Tom Coughlin who stepped down from the Giants and was talking with the Eagles. I am very happy to say that TC will NOT be joining the Eagles and there is even talk of him being a consultant for the Giants. The Giants have hired Ben MacAdoo as their new head coach. MacAdoo has been the offensive coordinator for the past two seasons with the Giants. I think it’s a good fit. The Eagles still haven’t hired a new head coach. The Buccaneers fired Lovie Smith after just two years. They have also promoted their offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter to the head coach position.  The 49ers fired Jim Tomsula after just one season and have replaced him with Chip Kelly. HAH! Good luck San Francisco… The Browns have also fired Mike Pettine after just two seasons and have hired Hue Jackson who was formally the Bengals offensive coordinator.
Wild Card weekend once again lived up to its name. If you’re team made it to the playoffs and lost I’m sure it was heartbreaking for you. But what loss was the worst? Was it the missed field goal, the shut out, or the personal fouls that lead to a field goal? I don’t know, I think the Cinci loss was the worst in my opinion. I’m not even a Bengals fan and I was heartbroken. I’ll talk more about it in the recaps. I went 3-1 in picks (damn Bengals I should have been 4-0)
We’ll have four games this weekend, two today and two tomorrow. … Anyway, lets recap the wild Wild Card weekend.

Chiefs @ Texans 30-0
I think the highlight for the Texans was just making it to the playoffs because as soon as the game kicked off it was over for Houston. The opening kickoff was returned for a touchdown and that really set the tone. The Chiefs dominated the entire game. It really wasn’t a contest. Well done KC, sorry Houston.

Steelers @ Bengals 18-16
The Steelers didn’t win this game, rather the Bengals beat themselves. It was an ugly, ridiculous game in which no one should be proud of. The forth quarter had the story line of an epic comeback and victory but with a Jeremy Hill fumble and then a mess of penalties set Pittsburgh up to kick a game winning field goal…

Seahawks @ Vikings 10-9
The Vikings controlled the game from the start but the Seahawks did claw back in the fourth quarter to make it an even more exciting game. The Vikings really had this game all wrapped up and all they needed was a field goal with 22 seconds left. It was a chip shot, closer than an extra point and it went wide left. Heartbreaking.

Packers @ Redskins 35-18
It wasn’t pretty but it was a win for the Packers. And all I really have to say is, “Washington, YOU LIKE THAT?!!!!”

DIVISIONAL WEEKEND

Saturday January 16th

Chiefs (11-5) @ Patriots (12-4) [4:35pm CBS]
I’m going with the Chiefs, because I feel like their team just seems to be more put together. I’m not saying the Patriots aren’t good, they just aren’t as complete, and I don’t like them.

Packers (10-6) @ Cardinals (13-3) [8:15pm NBC]
I’m going to have to pick the Cardinals. Sorry Packers fans. I just don’t see it this time around.

Sunday January 10th

Seahawks (10-6) @ Panthers (15-1) [1:05pm FOX]
This is a tough pick. I really think that the Seahawks are going to win. Sorry my Carolina people. Maybe I’ll be wrong.

Steelers (10-6) @ Broncos (12-4) [4:40pm CBS]
Peyton is starting!!!!! I’m picking the Broncos for the win!

Thanks for the edit Mom!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Wild Card Weekend '16

Wild Card Weekend

Well if you’re like me, you and your favorite team have something in common; you’ll both be watching the playoffs from the comfort of your home. I’m not at all bitter about this. (Insert sarcasm here) To make matters worse, our beloved coach has stepped down and has agreed to talk to the Eagles!!!!! My head might explode. But enough about the NY Giants, it is now the post season, and 12 out of the 32 teams remain. We’ll have four games this weekend, two today and two tomorrow. Happy Wild Card weekend. I went 9-7 on my picks last week, so at least I’ve been consistently bad this season… Anyway, lets recap week seventeen.

NY Jets @ Bills 17-22
Damnit Jets, all you had to do was win and you were in the playoffs… I can’t even be happy for the Bills because they never had any chance in making the playoffs and they kicked the only other NY team with any hopes of making it to the playoffs out. ANNNND on top of that they helped the Steelers make it in! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Not happy.

Patriots @ Dolphins 10-20
The Patriots lost AND will not have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I call that a two-fer.

Saints @ Falcons 20-17
Just another disappointing year for the Falcons and Saints, but more so Atlanta.

Lions @ Bears 24-20
At least the Lions finished strong… that’s more than I can say for my team.

Eagles @ NY Giants 35-30
I’m so glad this season is now OVER, because I’m so over it.

Redskins @ Cowboys 34-23
Shocking! The Cowboys lost?!?! Wait…

Titans @ Colts 24-30
Yeah, the Colts didn’t make it to the playoffs either, and the Titans will get the #1 overall pick in the draft.

Ravens @ Bengals 16-24
Well, the Bengals didn’t get a first round bye, but they are in the playoffs once again.

Steelers @ Browns 28-12
Disappointed. That is all.

Jaguars @ Texans 6-30
It’s crazy to think that the Texans won the AFC South especially after their horrendous start.

Raiders @ Chiefs 17-23
The Chiefs have won 10 in a row! Amazing, and no one is really talking about it. Except for me, because I just did.

Chargers @ Broncos 20-27
Best part of the game was when Peyton trotted onto the field and brought the Broncos to VICTORY!!!! So glad to see him back!!!!

Buccaneers @ Panthers 10-38
Panthers now have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.  Charlotte must be excited.

Seahawks @ Cardinals 36-6
I had the Cardinals winning it all in my mind before this game, and now I don’t. Even without Marshawn Lynch the Seahawks just showed how dangerous they really are.

Rams @ 49ers 16-19 OT
Good news 49ers, Chip Kelly is interested in you. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Vikings @ Packers 20-13
This game was just about as ugly as the Giants Eagles game. Poor Aaron Rodgers. Terrible to watch.

WILD CARD WEEKEND

Saturday January 9th

Chiefs (11-5) @ Texans (9-7) [4:35pm ESPN]
I’m going with the Chiefs, because I feel like their team just seems to be more put together. I’m not saying the Texans aren’t good, they just aren’t as complete.

Steelers (10-6) @ Bengals (12-4) [8:15pm CBS]
Bengals are 0-13 in the post season. Wait, let me just copy and paste what I said in my report last season, and the season before, and the season before…. The Bengals haven’t won a playoff game since Boomer was their QB and Andy Dalton was 3 years old.  But because the Ginger isn’t playing, and I haven’t learned from the past, I’m picking the Bengals to win… I’m picking them mainly because I refuse to pick the Steelers.

Sunday January 10th

Seahawks (10-6) @ Vikings (11-5) [1:05pm NBC]
I’m picking the Seahawks for the win. I don’t think Teddy is really ready for the playoffs. Weather will definitely be a factor in this game, being that it’s 7 degrees right now in Minnesota and it’s supposed to be even colder for tomorrow’s game. Burrrrrrrrrrr and no thank you.

Packers (10-6) @ Redskins (9-7) [4:40pm FOX]
I’m really hoping the Packers can miraculously get healthy and beat the Redskins, and then I can say to Washington, “YOU LIKE THAT?!!!!”

TEAMS WITH BYES: Patriots, Broncos, Cardinals, Panthers

Regular Season Week 17

Happy New Year!!! It seems like week 16 was so long ago… I guess that’s what happens when there is no Thursday or Saturday football. All the games this week will be played on Sunday.  There will no longer be any Monday or Thursday night football for the rest of the season. I hate when the season comes to the end. This is the final week of the regular season. The Panthers are no longer perfect, the Giants have no hopes of making the playoffs, and there were a LOT of other upsets this past weekend in the NFL. I went 8-8 on my picks last week, but really with all the upsets I’m ok with this…

 Lets recap week sixteen.

Chargers @ Raiders 20-23 OT
I picked the Raiders to win and I was right.  This could very well be the last game the Raiders play in their stadium. Someone is moving to L.A…

Redskins @ Eagles 38-24
Well I was at a hockey game when this game started. It was nice, we had box seats and the home team won. Once this game came on a few of us crowded around a cellphone to watch… Clearly I was upset at the end of this game because the Redskins win kicked the Giants out of any hopes for the playoffs… I don’t know what was worse, rooting for the Eagles or watching them get annihilated.

49ers @ Lions 17-32
I mean, the 49ers made it a pretty easy day… Lions have won 5 of their last 7 games… That’s more than I can say for the Giants.

Steelers @ Ravens 17-20
This was one of the best upsets of the day, definitely top 3! Well done, Ravens!

Cowboys @ Bills 6-16
Would you look at that, the Bills finally got a win!

Bears @ Buccaneers 26-21
I really thought the Bucs were better…

Panthers @ Falcons 13-20
Cam becomes a daddy and loses his first game of the season. This is also one of the best upsets of the day, probably number one, unless you think the Pats deserve that number.

Browns @ Chiefs 13-17
Cleveland could have gotten the win but time literally expired on them. PS this could have been Johnny Football’s last game in Cleveland, if it is, he really only has himself to blame.

Colts @ Dolphins 18-12
Somehow the Colts keep winning. It’s weird, I know.

Patriots @ Jets 20-26 OT
J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS!!!! This was another upset of the weekend. Bill Belichick denies any confusion in the coin toss in overtime. The Pats elected to kick off and the Jets drove down the field and scored a touchdown. GAME OVER. It was pretty exciting, if you’re not a Pats fan.

Texans @ Titans 34-6
Titans will most likely get the first pick in the draft. Look on the bright side.

Jaguars @ Saints 27-38
The Jags really didn’t show up until the second half. It’s not like this game counted for anything…

Packers @ Cardinals 8-38
This was such an UGLY game to watch especially if you are a Packers fan. The Cardinals threw around Aaron Rodgers like a rag doll. It wasn’t pretty. I really thought that the Packers were better, at the same time, could the Cardinals really be THAT good?

Rams @ Seahawks 23-17
I’d have to say that this was another pretty big upset game. Good for you Rams.

NY Giants @ Vikings 17-49
I somehow knew that if the Redskins won that the Giants wouldn’t show up at all against the Vikings and I was right. It was embarrassing to watch but at the same time not stressful knowing that there wouldn’t be any post season.

Bengals @ Broncos 17-20 OT
My mom and I went to down to NC to get some of my things and visit with my special people. We were at Duckworths Monday night and caught the first half of this game. It did not look good for the Broncos and we seemed to be surrounded by Cincinnati fans.  This didn’t detour me at all, being that I was obviously cheering for the Broncos.  The game turned around and the Broncos won in overtime. It was very exciting.

WEEK 17

Sunday January 3rd

NY Jets (10-5) @ Bills (7-8) [1:00pm CBS]
I’m going to have to pick the Jets. They are one of those “Win and In” teams they could also get in with a Pittsburgh loss, but they are playing the Browns so the Jets might as well just win.

Patriots (12-3) @ Dolphins (5-10) [1:00pm CBS]
I’m picking the Patriots but will be rooting for the Dolphins. The Patriots are playing for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs (they already have the first round bye). With a win or a Denver loss they get home field advantage.

Saints (6-9) @ Falcons (8-7) [1:00pm FOX]
This game really means nothing so I’ll pick the Falcons.

Lions (6-9) @ Bears (6-9) [1:00pm FOX]
This, though a divisional game, they are only playing for pride. I’m going with the Lions.

Eagles (6-9) @ NY Giants (6-9) [1:00pm FOX]
Here is another meaningless meaningful game. I’m picking the Giants for one last win before next season. I hate the offseason, so lets go out on a high note. Go GMEN!

Redskins (8-7) @ Cowboys (4-11)  [1:00pm FOX]
I am taller than the Cowboys record (and I’m not tall at all, let alone an average height. I’m short, 4’11½ ”) I’m picking the Redskins for the win.

Titans (3-12) @ Colts (7-8) [1:00pm CBS]
There is a chance that the Colts could make the playoffs but it’s so slim that there’d be a better chance of Brett Favre starting for Green Bay this Sunday… Honesty, I just don’t want to type all the things that need to happen in order for Indi to be playoff bound, though I am picking the Colts to win this particular game.

Ravens (5-10) @ Bengals (11-4) [1pm FOX]
Cincinnati is already in the playoffs, but could clinch a first round bye with: a win plus a Denver loss or tie OR a Cincinnati tie and a Denver loss OR a Denver loss and a Kansas City win. I’m picking the Bengals for the win.

Steelers (9-6) @ Browns (3-12) [1:00pm CBS]
The Steelers still have a chance at making the playoffs but only with a win AND a Jets loss. I’m picking them to win their game but not make the playoffs.

Jaguars (5-10) @ Texans (8-7) [1:00pm CBS]
The Texans can clinch the AFC South with a win or tie OR an Indi loss or tie. I’m picking the Texans for the win.

Raiders (7-8) @ Chiefs (10-5) [1:00pm FOX]
The Chiefs can clinch the AFC West with a win AND a Denver loss.  I’m picking the Chiefs for the win.

Chargers (4-11) @ Broncos (11-4) [4:25pm CBS]
The Broncos can clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win AND a Patriots loss. They can clinch a first round bye with a win OR a tie and a Cincinnati loss or tie OR a KC loss or tie and Cincinnati loss. I’m picking the Broncos to win. Peyton Manning will be playing the role of backup QB.

Buccaneers (6-9) @ Panthers (14-1) [4:25pm FOX]
Carolina can clinch home-field throughout the playoffs with a win, tie, or an Arizona loss or tie. I’m picking the Panthers to win.

Seahawks (9-6) @ Cardinals (13-2) [4:25pm FOX]
Coincidentally, the Cardinals can clinch home-field with a win AND a Carolina loss. I’m picking the Cardinals to win.

Rams (7-8)  @ 49ers (4-11)[4:25pm CBS]
This is just another game that has no playoff implications. I’m picking the Rams to win.

Vikings (10-4) @ Packers (10-5) [8:30pm NBC]
Green Bay will clinch the NFC North with a win or a tie. I’m picking the Packers for the win, but they MUST protect their QB a LOT better this week.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Mom!!!!!
