The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 9 '13

The Shenoa Report
October 31, 2013
Regular Season Week 9

As you may know I’m in the middle of training to get my Montessori credentials. This weekend I have training in Raleigh and I leave tonight. I won’t be able to watch much football this weekend but, I think its cool that the people who run the training really must have had my best interest in mind.  They scheduled my training weekend the same weekend the Giants have a BYE!
This past weekend was probably the best weekend ever when it comes to football. I mean, the Giants won AND the Cowboys, Redskins, and Eagles lost!!!!! There were some GREAT games this past weekend and I found myself hugging and dancing in the Ginn’s living room after more than one game. Man I love football.
Now, because I’m not playing fantasy I figured I would put up my picks against “The Insiders” on Showtime’s Inside the NFL and this past week I went 13 for 13! That’s right, I beat Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth!
The best part of week 9 is the Giants can’t lose! But before we get to that let’s recap week 8 first.

Week 1
2012 Season

9-7
2013 Season

Week 7
11-2
9-6
Week 8
10-4
11-2

Panthers (4-3) @ Buccaneers (0-7) 31-13
This was a pretty easy win for the Panthers. I mean, Tampa Bay made Carolina look stellar. Why can’t the Giants play the Bucs?

Cowboys (4-4) @ Lions (5-3) 30-31
This. Game. Was. Awesome. Thanks Detroit for not letting me down. Megatron is still a beast and I’d like to give Matt Stafford a high five. I haven’t given out the binky award in some time but I think Dez Bryant deserves it this week…. Throwing a fit on the sideline… come on man!

49ers (6-2) @ Jaguars (0-8) 42-10
I feel bad for the British fans… this game took place in London again but they only got to see one NFL team…

NY Giants (2-6) @ Eagles (3-5) [1pm FOX]
YESSSSSSSSSSSS! HOW ABOUT 2 WEEKS IN A ROW ELI HASN’T THROWN AN INTERCEPTION!!!!!! And our defense hasn’t allowed any points! Now our special teams still need a ton of work and I’d like to see Eli throw a TD. BUT I’ll take it! A win is so much better when it’s against a division opponent.

Browns (3-5) @ Chiefs (8-0) 17-23
Close, heartbreaking game for Browns fans. I still can’t believe that the Chiefs are STILL undefeated.

Dolphins (3-4) @ Patriots (6-2) 17-27
No surprise here. Not gonna lie, didn’t watch this game.

Bills (3-5) @ Saints (6-1) 17-35
I’d like to say that the Saints are really, really, good this year… but I don’t believe it.

Steelers (2-5) @ Raiders (3-4) 18-21
My mom picked the Raiders to win. She was right I was wrong in this report. But I took her advice and picked it right when playing the insiders.

Jets (4-4) @ Bengals (6-2) 9-49
I thought I typed the score incorrectly… nope. Wow.

Falcons (2-5) @ Cardinals (4-4) 13-27
How are the Falcons so bad?

Redskins (2-6) @ Broncos (7-1) 21-45
Peyton had 3 interceptions and the Broncos still beat their opponents soundly. The Redskins are BAD! YAY!

Packers (5-2) @ Vikings (1-6) 44-31
Even with most of the Packers injured I just knew they would win.

Seahawks (7-1) @ Rams (3-5) 14-9
Wow, I watched this game and I thought that the Rams were really going to pull an upset. Too bad, so sad.

WEEK 9
Thursday October 31st

Bengals (6-2) @ Dolphins (3-4) [8:25pm NFLN]
Taking the Bengals.

Sunday November 3rd

Falcons (2-5) @ Panthers (4-3) [1pm FOX]
I’ve got to take the Panthers at home.

Vikings (1-6) @ Cowboys (4-4) [1pm FOX]
I’ll be rooting for the Vikings, hoping they’ll win but I’m going to have to pick the Cowboys to win.

Saints (6-1) @ Jets (4-4) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Saints for the win, the Jets were embarrassing last weekend.

Titans (3-4) @ Rams (3-5) [1pm CBS]
Tough call, the Rams almost beat the Seahawks last week…  I think I’m going to pick the Titans for the win.

Chiefs (8-0) @ Bills (3-5) [1pm CBS]
Taking the Chiefs, sorry Bills fans.

Chargers (4-3) @ Redskins (2-5) [1pm CBS]
I’m pulling for and picking the Chargers

Eagles (3-5) @ Raiders (3-4) [4:05pm FOX]
Going with the Raiders for more than one reason.

Buccaneers (0-7) @ Seahawks (7-1) [4:05pm FOX]
Ha! I’m going with the Seahawks

Ravens (3-4) @ Browns (3-5) [4:25pm CBS]
Upset of the week… I’m picking the Browns

Steelers (2-5) @ Patriots (6-2) [4:25pm CBS]
I was listening to sports radio today and they were talking about how awful Tom Brady’s been the past few weeks. It was awesome. PS I’m picking the Patriots to win this one.

Colts (5-2) @ Texans (2-5) [8:30pm NBC]
Picking the Colts.

Monday November 4th

Bears (4-3) @ Packers (5-2) [8:40pm ESPN]
Go Pack Go! I’m picking Green Bay.

If you are a Broncos, Jaguars, Giants, Lions, Cardinals,  or 49ers fan you’re in luck…. Your team won’t lose this week!

Holy Chiefs Batman!

Ravens (3-4) @ Steelers (2-4) 16-19
The Ravens are STILL hung-over it seems.

Browns (3-4) @ Packers (4-2) 13-31
Those throwbacks should stay back… in the past… Where they belong. Wow.

Broncos (6-1) @ Colts (5-1) 33-39
I’d love to say that I watched this game but I was super sick Sunday night and slept through the entire game. In some ways I’m glad I slept through this game because in my mind Peyton is still perfect. I don’t like to see him or his brother lose and it’s already been a tough season in some respects.

Vikings (1-5) @ NY Giants (1-6) [8:40pm ESPN]
A win is a win right?  Even if it was the ugliest, pathetic win of the season.

WEEK 8
Thursday October 24th

Panthers (3-3) @ Buccaneers (0-6) [8:25pm NFLN]
Taking the Panthers

Sunday October 27th

Cowboys (4-3) @ Lions (4-3) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Lions please don’t let me down.

49ers (5-2) @ Jaguars (0-7) [1pm FOX]
I think it’s almost safe in saying that the 49ers are going to take the W

NY Giants (1-6) @ Eagles (3-4) [1pm FOX]

It’s another angry birds game. I’m picking the Falcons, they need to get back on track.

Broncos will put last week’s loss behind them and Peyton will lead his team to victory.

Packers (4-2) @ Vikings (1-5) [8:30pm NBC]
It’s a rivalry game in which the Packers will win.

The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 7 '13

The Shenoa Report
October 17, 2013
Regular Season Week 7

You know you’re a die-hard football fan if your team is 0-6 and you still LOVE football… Either that or you are just plain delusional.
I didn’t think I would be watching a lot of football this past weekend but my best friend left early Sunday morning so my roommate rescued me from the couch and the box of tissues and took me to Taco Mac where there are 87 flat screen tvs with football on every one (and over 200 beers to choose from). So I picked myself up off the couch, put on my Peyton Manning jersey, and walked out the door for a wonderful journey to watch football. Thanks Michelle.
I did a little bit better on my picks this week but I’m still not up to par in my opinion.
There are some pretty big exciting things coming up this weekend, Peyton is going back to Indi, the Giants might actually get a win, and Brett Favre got a bell on his walker so you’ll know if he’s coming back to the NFL.
Let’s recap week 6 first. I went 10-5.

Week 1
2012 Season

9-7
2013 Season

10-6
Week 2
7-9
13-3
Week 3
6-10
8-8
Week 4
12-3
10-5
Week 5
9-5
7-8
Week 6
8-6
10-5

NY Giants (0-6) @ Bears (4-2) 21-27
I totally wasn’t going to watch this game but I did end up watching the last quarter and I was pretty excited because I actually thought they were going to pull off a win…
Hey, at least when you lose this much you’re kinda numb to the pain… I’m numb.

Packers (3-2) @ Ravens (2-3) 19-17
Watched the end of this game at Taco Mac and was glad to see the Pack pull off the win, mostly because it made the rest of the night more enjoyable with a happy roommate.

Lions (4-2) @ Browns (3-3) 31-17
This didn’t really surprise me.

Rams (3-3) @ Texans (2-4) 38-13
This score shocked the hell out of me. Holy moly bumble bees

Panthers (2-3) @ Vikings (1-4) 35-10
I really did not see that coming. Happy for Panthers fans everywhere.

Eagles (3-3) @ Buccaneers (0-5) 31-20
Bucs you disappoint me. I can’t believe my team has the same record as yours.

Bengals (4-2) @ Bills (2-4) 27-24 OT
I was rooting for you Bills. Sorry for your loss… at least you made it to overtime.

Raiders (2-4) @ Chiefs (6-0) 7-24
Shocking!?! … No, not really.

Steelers (1-4) @ Jets (3-3) 19-6
This surprised me, with all the Jets hype and the Steelers horribleness, I thought this would be a relatively easy win for the Jets…

Jaguars (0-6) @ Broncos (6-0) 19-35
It’s always fun watching Peyton Manning.

Titans (3-3) @ Seahawks (5-1) 13-20
Good game.

Saints (5-1) @ Patriots (5-1) 27-30
I watched this game and I don’t want to talk about it. BAH!

Cardinals (3-3) @ 49ers (4-2) 20-32
This didn’t surprise me.

Redskins (1-4) @ Cowboys (3-3) 16-31
I flippin hate the Cowboys.

Colts (4-2) @ Chargers (3-3) 9-19
I did NOT see that coming.

WEEK 7

Thursday October 17th

Seahawks (5-1) @ Cardinals (3-3) [8:25pm NFLN]
I’m taking the Seahawks.

Sunday October 20th

Buccaneers (0-5) @ Falcons (1-4) [1pm FOX]
 Taking the Falcons.

Bears (4-2) @ Redskins (1-4) [1pm FOX]
Picking the Bears.

Cowboys (3-3) @ Eagles (3-3) [1pm FOX]
How the hell are both teams 3-3?!?! I hope this game ends in a tie, really I do. I’ll have to pick the Cowboys but I’m not happy about it.

Rams (3-3) @ Panthers (2-3) [1pm FOX]
Tough pick… picking the Panthers but I’m prepared to be disappointed.

Patriots (5-1) @ Jets (3-3) [1pm CBS]
Picking the Pats.

Bills (2-4) @ Dolphins (3-2) [1pm CBS]
 Picking the Dolphins.

Chargers (2-3) @ Jaguars (0-6) [1pm CBS]
Taking the Chargers

Bengals (4-2) @ Lions (4-2) [1pm CBS]
Picking the Lions.

49ers (4-2) @ Titans (3-3) [4:05pm FOX]
Picking the 49ers, sorry Abby

Texans (2-4) @ Chiefs (6-0) [4:25pm CBS]
Taking the Chiefs.

Ravens (3-3) @ Steelers (1-4) [4:25pm CBS]
Picking the Ravens

Browns (3-3) @ Packers (3-2) [4:25pm CBS]
 Taking the Packers.

Broncos (6-0) @ Colts (4-1) [8:30pm NBC]
Jim Irsay(Colts owner) is a buffoon.  The comments directed toward Peyton Manning were very unnecessary.  Peyton will be honored when he returns to Indi and then I hope he stomps the Colts. I’m picking the Broncos for the win.
"I've learned that in life you have to be at peace with other people's decisions that affect you that you have no control over," - Peyton Manning
He’ so profound.

Monday October 21st

Vikings (1-4) @ NY Giants (0-6) [8:40pm ESPN]
Because I’m crazy, I’m picking the Giants to win their fist game of the season.

If you are a Raiders or Saints fan you’re in luck…. Your team won’t lose this week!

The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 6 '13

The Shenoa Report
October 10, 2013
Regular Season Week 6

Well, the Giants are playing tonight and I’m sick of them losing. It’s really getting me down. I’m thankful for the other Manning though, who’s still undefeated going into week 6. Silver linings.
My best friend is staying with me for a couple of days and then moving to the West Coast for all practical purposes. That being said I don’t know how much football I’ll be watching this weekend. As much as I love football, and you know I LOVE football, my best friend hates football and I want him to be happy this last weekend that we spend together. Also the Giants are horrible and I don’t care to watch them lose 6 times in a row.
I did horrible on my picks last week at 7-8. Ouch. But there were some really, really, surprising endings… at least I thought.

Week 1
2012 Season

9-7
2013 Season

10-6
Week 2
7-9
13-3
Week 3
6-10
8-8
Week 4
12-3
10-5
Week 5
9-5
7-8

Bills (2-3) @ Browns (3-2) 24-37
Browns are 3-2!!!!!! Say WHAT?!?!!!

Lions (3-2) @ Packers (2-2) 9-22
Not a real surprise but Clay Matthews hurt his thumb in this game and will be out for the next month or so.

Seahawks (4-1) @ Colts (4-1) 28-34
Andrew Luck blah blah blah Seattle looses one.

Saints (5-0) @ Bears (3-2) 26-18
Hopefully the Bears will lose again miserably this week too.

Eagles (2-3) @ NY Giants (0-5) 36-21

Patriots (4-1) @ Bengals (3-2) 6-13
It’s about time the Ginger along with the other Bengals beat Tom Brady and the Pats.
Ravens (3-2) @ Dolphins (3-2) 26-23
Oh, so close Dolphins.

Chiefs (5-0) @ Titans (3-2) 26-17
Never thought I would have the Chiefs and 5-0 in one sentence before.

Jaguars (0-5) @ Rams (2-3) 20-34
There are only two QBs worse than Eli Manning right now and the last one on the list plays for the Jags… that’s saying something.

Panthers (1-3) @ Cardinals (3-2) 6-22
I’d like to say that this score is shocking but it really isn’t.

Broncos (5-0) @ Cowboys (2-3) 51-48
Well the headlines read Tony OH-NO! Peyton Manning, unlike his brother, is the BESTEST  in the league right now.

Texans (2-3) @ 49ers (3-2) 3-34
Pretty sure the Texans are looking for a new QB right now. Fans are actually going to his house and berating him because of the outcome of this game.

Chargers (2-3) @ Raiders (2-3) 17-27
This game surprised me.

Jets (3-2) @ Falcons (1-4) 30-28
Another last second score to win.

WEEK 6

Thursday October 10th

NY Giants (0-5) @ Bears (3-2) [8:25pm NFLN]
I don’t even know what to say at this point. Picking the Bears to win…

Sunday October 13th

Packers (2-2) @ Ravens (2-2) [1pm FOX]
Going with the Packers even if they are Matthewsless.

Lions (3-2) @ Browns (3-2) [1pm FOX]
Wouldn’t it be funny if the Browns beat the Lions? I’m picking the Lions.
Rams (2-3) @ Texans (2-3) [1pm FOX]
Going with the Texans.

Panthers (1-3) @ Vikings (1-3) [1pm FOX]
Taking the Vikings.

Eagles (2-3) @ Buccaneers (0-4) [1pm FOX]
Hoping the Bucs get their first win of the season. But it’s not likely. Picking the Eagles for the win.

Bengals (3-2) @ Bills (2-3) [1pm CBS]
Going with the Bengals.

Raiders (2-3) @ Chiefs (5-0) [1pm CBS]
Taking the Chiefs.

Steelers (0-4) @ Jets (3-2) [1pm CBS]
Kleenex tissue has picked up the manufacturing of the Terrible Towel and is making a killing catching the Steelers fan’s tears. I’m picking the Jets for the win.

Jaguars (0-5) @ Broncos (5-0) [4:05pm CBS]
Taking Manning over the worst QB in the league.

Titans (3-2) @ Seahawks (4-1) [4:05pm CBS]
The Seahawks will bounce back and get the win.

Saints (5-0) @ Patriots (4-1) [4:25pm FOX]
I’m picking the Saints over the Pats.

Cardinals (3-2) @ 49ers (3-2) [4:25pm FOX]
Picking the 9ers for the win.

Redskins (1-3) @ Cowboys (2-3) [8:30pm NBC]
Hopefully the Redskins will get the win but I’m going to have to take the Cowboys.

Monday October 14th

Colts (4-1) @ Chargers (2-3) [8:40pm ESPN]
Going with the Colts.

If you are a Dolphins or Falcons fan you’re in luck…. Your team won’t lose this week!

BYE: Dolphins Falcons

The Shenoa Report Regular Season Week 5 '13

The Shenoa Report
October 3, 2013
Regular Season Week 5

My roommate came out of her room Sunday afternoon, looked at me, and said, “Shenoa I think you need an intervention.” I had 2 games on the TV that I was switching back and forth on, one game on one laptop, and another game on the other laptop. I simply replied, “I didn’t want to go out so I brought Taco Mac to me. (Our Taco Mac has 87 flat screen TVs and the Sunday ticket.) I love football.
Even though my team SUCKS I will still sit there all Sunday afternoon, evening, night, Monday night, and Thursday night and watch football. I have a problem.
October is here so if you tune into a game this month and the players are wearing pink don’t adjust the color on your screen. This is the month the NFL pays tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness by incorporating pink in their uniforms. I am sporting some pink hair as well in honor of my Gramma... I’m pretty sure she would’ve been proud.
I still haven’t finished “The Book of Manning”, I was going to watch it this past weekend but I had a Patriots fan staying with me, and for some reason he was against it.
I didn’t do as well as I had hoped with picks this past weekend at 10-5 but hey, there is always next week.
There were some pretty shocking outcomes this past weekend, lets recap!

Week 1
2012 Season

9-7
2013 Season

10-6
Week 2
7-9
13-3
Week 3
6-10
8-8
Week 4
12-3
10-5

49ers @ Rams 35-11
Well the Rams held it together for one quarter and then it all fell to pieces. The 49ers seem to be back… for now.

Cardinals @ Buccaneers 13-10
Arizona didn’t really show up until the 4th quarter but then they outplayed the Bucs and took the win.

NY Giants @ Chiefs 7-31
Dear Giants, there are 4, four, FOUR quarters to a football game! You must have forgotten because you actually looked ok until the fourth… disappointed.

Seahawks @ Texans 23-20 OT
Watching this game at home I thought to myself, oh my, the Seahawks aren’t going to win today. But then, the comeback kids showed up. Wow, what a game. My favorite part, JJ Watt’s bloody face, that man is a beast.

Bears @ Lions 32-40
Even as I watch the recap of the game I still can’t believe that the Lions won. Good for them.

Ravens @ Bills 20-23
HOLY BUFFALO BATMAN! I did NOT see that coming. Growing up in NY I could have been a Bills fan but my dad was, and is, a Giants fan so that’s the route I went. I’m glad to see the Bills having a good season so far… they’re due.

Steelers @ Vikings 27-34
This. Game. Was. Awesome. Awesome in that the Steelers are now 0-4 and Big Ben saying they are the worst team in the NFL… that’s good news for the Giants, right?

Colts @ Jaguars 37-3
Why can’t the Giants play the Jaguars… we’d actually have a winning chance.

Bengals @ Browns 6-17
I think this was the most shocking win of the weekend. I think the Browns are going to be ok without what’s his name…

Jets @ Titans 13-38
Sanchez is out for the season but the “butt fumble” lives on, only now it’s the around the back fumble thanks to their current QB Geno Smith. Anyway, way-to-go Titans.

Redskins @ Raiders 24-14
Dear Raiders, you SUCK! I was counting on you to win this game. BAHHHH!!!!!!!

Eagles @ Broncos 20-52
Peyton is so awesome, he only had to play 3 quarters. He had 4 touchdown passes and is completely brilliant. I’m about to switch Manning’s this season. Love me some Peyton. Hey Peyton, will you call your brother and give him a pep talk? Tell him to “rub some dirt in it” or something…  Dear Broncos, thanks for beating your opponent soundly.

Cowboys @ Chargers 21-30
That’s what I’m talking about!!!!! Thanks Chargers for helping make the NFC East the laughing stock of the NFL.

Patriots @ Falcons 30-23
This game really doesn’t shock me. I tried to watch some of it for a friend but Tom Brady’s face made me nauseous so I went to bed.

Dolphins @ Saints 17-38
Drew Brees may look old but he’s not showing it on the field. The Saints beat the Dolphins soundly.

WEEK 5

Thursday October 3rd

Bills (2-2) @ Browns (2-2) [8:25pm NFLN]
I think that this is going to be a good, close game. I’m actually having trouble picking a winner. Hmmmmm maybe it’ll end in a tie. I guess I’ll go with the Browns for the win.

Sunday October 6th

Lions (3-1) @ Packers (1-2) [1pm FOX]
The Packers have got to get back into it. I’m picking them for the win even though the Lions looked really good last week.

Seahawks (4-0) @ Colts (3-1) [1pm FOX]
Although I’d like to see the Seahawks win I’m going to have to pick the Colts at home.

Saints (4-0) @ Bears (3-1) [1pm FOX]
The Bears were embarrassed last week and the Saints are coming off a short week.  But I am still going to pick the Saints for the win.

Eagles (1-3) @ NY Giants (0-4) [1pm FOX]
If the Giants beat the Eagles and the Broncos beat the Cowboys the Giants jump from last to second place in the division…. It’s been a couple of weeks Gmen, but I’m ready to pick you for the win! GO GMEN!!!!!!

Patriots (4-0) @ Bengals (2-2) [1pm CBS]
Obviously I’d love to see the Bengals win this game but I’m going to have to pick the Pats.

Ravens (2-2) @ Dolphins (3-1) [1pm CBS]
I’m going with the Dolphins for the win.

Chiefs (4-0) @ Titans (3-1) [1pm CBS]
This should be a good game. I’m going to have to pick the Chiefs for the win.

Jaguars (0-4) @ Rams (1-3) [1pm CBS]
I’m pretty sure the Bumblebees will win this game.

Panthers (1-2) @ Cardinals (2-2) [4:05pm FOX]
I’m going to pick the Panthers for the win.

Broncos (4-0) @ Cowboys (2-2) [4:25pm CBS]
