The Shenoa Report Championship Sunday '13

Championship Weekend
Post Season

The games are still a little too fresh in my memory from this past weekend. EVERY GAME was heart breaking for me… Well not every game; I guess I can be a little dramatic at times, the Green Bay/49ers game didn’t hurt that much (Kaepernick is a BEAST!)
I would have loved to have been 0-4 with my picks but the damn Patriots won, ruining even that… Yes you read that sentence correct, I went 1-3 in my picks last week. Pretty sure that is my worst ever.  None of the teams that I wanted to advance did, so now I’m back to square one. … I’m thinking I’d like to have a Harbaugh Super Bowl…
Lets recap the Divisional Weekend.

Ravens [10-6] @ Broncos [13-3] 38-35 Final Double OT
Heart breaking, simply heart breaking. I was finally going to bust out my #18 Manning jersey for the post season. I could blame this loss on so many things… poor clock management, stupid ref calls, John Fox, NOT USING PEYTON MANNING AND HIS AMAZING, BRILIANT, MIND AND ARM WITH 38 SECONDS TO GO AND TWO TIME OUTS at the end of the game… or I don’t know, play DEFENSE when you are supposed to… EPIC FAIL Broncos (still love you Peyton). Congrats Ray Lewis and the Ravens, you better trounce the Pats next week… that’s your saving grace.

Packers [11-5] @ 49ers [11-4-1] 31-45
Holy Moses, Batman! Colin Kaepernick is insane. I mean, the kid had 181 yards RUSHING! (He’s the Quarterback for the 49ers for those of you who don’t follow football)… {I don’t know why you would be reading this, so I don’t know why I’m explaining it. Anyway…} He also had four touchdowns, two rushing and two passing. I guess Jim Harbaugh (the head coach of the 49ers) made the right decision in switching out QBs mid season. I still feel kind of bad for Alex Smith…

Seahawks [11-5] @ Falcons [13-3] 28-30
I can’t even begin to explain how disappointed I was with the outcome of this game. I was probably about as disappointed as the outcome of the Broncos game. Ugh.
On a high note, I seem to have a new “official shenoa football chair” at the Ginn’s. It’s pretty amazing, unlike the ending of this game.

Texans [12-4] @ Patriots [12-4] 28-41
Well, at least the Texans didn’t get shutout this time… silver lining? I hate the Pats.

Championship Sunday

Sunday, January 21st

49ers @ Falcons (3pm FOX)
I’m picking the 49ers for the win…

Ravens @ Patriots (6:30pm CBS)
I hope Ray Lewis pounds Tom Brady into the ground… repeatedly… Also, I’m picking the Ravens for the win… I don’t want to see the Patriots at the Super Bowl again this year…

The Shenoa Report Divisional Weekend '13

The Shenoa Report

Divisional Weekend
Post Season

I’m finally back in NC. What a whirlwind of events. How was Wild Card Weekend for you? I actually got to watch at least part of every game this past weekend, good times.
I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not keeping up with all the firings and hiring’s around the league because I think it’s at an all time high. Lets focus on the teams that have actually made it to the playoffs.
I went 3-1 on my picks last week, lets recap Wild Card Weekend.

Bengals [10-6] @ Texans [12-4] 13-19
The last time the Bengals won a playoff game Boomer Esiason was their QB and Andy Dalton was 3 years-old.  The sad thing is I can say the same thing next year. Poor Bengals. I was able to watch this game with my dad. I love watching football with my father. We decided that we could be the commentators because everything we said they said a few seconds later…
I was a little surprised at the outcome of this game, not gonna lie.  I feel there was poor clock management at the end and the Bengals didn’t want it bad enough.

Vikings [10-6] @ Packers  [11-5] 10-24
So, my sister-in-law is from Minnesota, thankfully she really isn’t into football. My dad was rooting for the Vikings so it made for interesting dynamics in the living room of my parents house as I was going with Green Bay. Needless to say we “watched” most of the game on mute, played Mad-libs with the family, while watching my nephew be his cute, awesome, adorable self. Then my father went to bed before the game was over. I think its safe to say that Green Bay dominated Minnesota.

Colts [11-5] @ Ravens [10-6] 9-24
I was flying from NY to Philly at the beginning of this game but I was able to watch the second half at the Philadelphia airport.
It’s too bad the Colts looked more like the Colts of last year against the Ravens. I guess their Luck just ran out.  At least Ray Lewis got his last win in his career…  yeah I said it.

Seahawks [11-5] @ Redskins [10-6] 24-14
I watched this game all the way up till I had to board the plane and I thought I had watched too much… the Redskins were up 14-0 and I was in such a funk I forgot my favorite scarf in the whole entire world at the airport in Philly. When I landed in Charlotte I realized I had lost my favorite scarf and was deeply saddened, and then I hesitantly checked the score of this game and was pleasantly surprised that it was 21-14 Seahawks.  My good friends, David and Zack, picked me up from the airport and we listened to the final minutes of the game while driving home. We were all happy with the outcome.
I called, and called, and called the Philly airport for the next few days but no one turned in my scarf to lost and found… at least the Seahawks won the game.

Divisional Weekend

Saturday, January 12th

Ravens [10-6] @ Broncos [13-3] (4:30pm CBS)
I’ve got to take Peyton and the Broncos!
Adam Schefter wrote an interesting article about the teams that didn’t land Peyton in the off-season (you can read it at espn.com), and all but two of those teams had people who lost their jobs at the end of this season. Peyton sure has affected a lot of teams this year and hopefully he’ll continue to do so through the post season.

Packers [11-5] @ 49ers [11-4-1] (8pm FOX)
I think that the Packers will win this game. I just hope it’s a good, close game. Whichever team advances, I’m ok with.

Sunday, January 13th

Seahawks [11-5] @ Falcons [13-3] (1pm FOX)
I’m going with the Seahawks, and I don’t even need to think about it.

Texans [12-4] @ Patriots [12-4] (4:30pm CBS)
I mean, I’d like the Texans to win, I hope the Texans will win, I’ll be rooting for the Texans, but if I had to pick a “winner” I guess it’d have to be the Pats.

The Shenoa Report Wild Card Weekend '13

Wild Card Weekend
Post Season

Happy New Year! I hope you all survived New Years Eve. I was able to spend it with my family for the first time since 2002. I wasn’t able to watch football this past weekend because of calling hours for my Gramma so I don’t know how well I can recap.
I’m sad that the Giants’ season is now over but hey, there is always next year right? Are you ready for Wild Card Weekend? Did your team make it to the playoffs? If they did congratulations, and if they didn’t I feel your pain. I did pretty decent with my picks last week at 12-4… Here are Week 17’s final scores and regular season final records…

Buccaneers [7-9] @ Falcons [13-3] 22-17
Little surprised at this score.

Jets [6-10] @ Bills [6-10] 9-28
No surprise here.

Bears [10-6] @ Lions [4-12] 26-24
Thanks Lions for ruining the Giants chance at the playoffs…

Panthers [7-9] @ Saints [7-9] 44-38
Panthers did better than most thought.

Eagles [4-12] @ NY Giants [9-7] 7-42
OK, so I didn’t get to watch this game but I was able to listen to part of the first quarter while driving to the airport to pick up my brother and his family. I heard the onside kick to start the game, the Vick interception and two Eli touchdowns. By looking at the score it went pretty well for the GMEN. It’s a shame the season had to end for them but I’m glad they went out with a bang… especially against the Eagles. GO GMEN!

Browns [5-11] @ Steelers [8-8] 10-24
Hey, at least we don’t have to watch the Steelers in the playoffs this year…

Texans [12-4] @ Colts [11-5] 16-28
Way to go Colts

Jaguars [2-14] @ Titans [6-10] 20-38
Poor Jags.

Ravens [10-6] @ Bengals [10-6] 17-23
Woot Woot Bengals!

Packers [11-5] @ Vikings [10-6] 34-37
Little surprised but I’m pretty sure the Packers will get them next time.

Dolphins [7-9] @ Patriots [12-4] 0-28
Did the Dolphins even show up for this game?

Raiders [4-12] @ Chargers [7-9] 21-24
Good, close game of who could care less.

Cardinals [5-11] @ 49ers [11-4-1] 13-27
No surprise here either.

Rams [7-8-1]  @ Seahawks [11-5] 13-20
I thought the Seahawks would have run up the score a little bit more.

Chiefs [2-14] @ Broncos [13-3] 3-38
Now that the Giants are out of the playoffs I might just have to jump on the Broncos bandwagon.

Cowboys [8-8] @ Redskins [10-6] 18-28
Again, I didn’t watch the game but pretty happy with the outcome. I heard Romo choked … shocking.

Wild Card Weekend

Saturday, January 5th

Bengals [10-6] @ Texans [12-4] 4:30pm NBC)
I’d like to see the Bengals win and I think they can do it so I’m going with Cincinnati.

Vikings [10-6] @ Packers  [11-5] (8pm NBC)
I don’t think the Packers will lose to the Vikings two weeks in a row so I’ll have to pick Green Bay for the win.

Sunday, January 6th

Colts [11-5] @ Ravens [10-6] (1pm CBS)
I love Ray Lewis, and knowing that he’s retiring, I don’t think this will be his last game. I’m picking the Ravens to win.

Seahawks [11-5] @ Redskins [10-6] (4:30pm FOX)
It’s the battle of the rookie quarterbacks and I’m going to have to take Shortie McShorterson and the Seahawks over RG3 and the Redskins.
