Regular Season Week 3

The New York Football Giants are 2-0 for the first time since 2016!!!!! They are also among only 6 other undefeated teams. This is something to feel good about. Something to not feel good about, my fantasy team. I lost this past week. Miserably. 137.88 to 65.2. Ugh. This week I play my mom, and it’s really up in the air who will win. I don’t like losing.

My picks were better this past week, I went 11-5. Before we get into week 3 let’s recap week 2!

Chargers @ Chiefs 24-27

This game was back and forth with the Chiefs coming out on top. Even though Justin Herbert had three touchdowns, to Patrick Mahomes’ two, Herbert threw a pick six in the fourth quarter that allowed the Chiefs to win the game.

Jets @ Browns 31-30

With less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, up by 13 points after Nick Chubb’s third touchdown of the game, the Browns head coach had his sons on the sideline so they could go onto the field for the celebration.  Then, in a New York minute, the Jets scored back to back touchdowns to stun the entire stadium, the city of Cleveland, and probably the world. Joe Flacco threw a 66 yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis with a minute and 22 seconds left in the game. After the touchdown they had a successful onside kick and went down and scored again with just 22 seconds left. The Jets were up by one and with 6 seconds left in the game Jakobi Brissett threw an interception giving the win to the Jets. It was a wild game to watch, for sure.

Commanders @ Lions 27-36

Washington tried to spoil the Lions home opener but Jared Goff and Aidan Hutchinson said NO! Goff had four touchdowns in the win, two of them to Amad St. Brown,  and Hutchinson had three sacks on Carson Wentz. After following the Lions on Hard Knocks it was so nice to see them get their first win of the season.

Buccaneers @ Saints 20-10

FFFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHHHHTTTTTTTT!!!!! Is the first thing that comes to mind about this game. The first three quarters were pretty uneventful except when Tom Brady threw a tablet on the sideline out of frustration from not being able to connect with his receivers. This also happened last season when the Bucs played the Saints in New Orleans. The NFL tried to “toddler proof” the tablet but Brady threw it and broke it nonetheless. Then the fourth quarter fight happened. Brady had just thrown a third-down incomplete pass and out of frustration started shouting at cornerback Marshon Lattimore of the Saints. Leonard Fournette came to Tom’s aid and shoved Lattimore, who shoved Fournette back. Mike Evans, who was on the sideline, rushed in and pushed Lattimore to the ground. Then chaos ensued. It was super entertaining to watch. Both Evans and Lattimore were ejected from the game. Tampa Bay went on to score 17 points to win the game without any more problems.

Panthers @ NY Giants 16-19

The Manningcast curse has been broken and Saquon Barkley had the magic elixir. I didn’t want to say anything but I was a little nervous when Saquon was a guest on last week’s broadcast of the Manning Cast on MNF. Last season when any athlete was on that show they lost the very next game they played. I mean he had a terrible game but that was because he wasn’t really involved at all until the fourth quarter. But guess what? THE GIANTS ARE 2-0 BABY!!!!! WOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOOO! It didn’t look pretty but they stayed with it and actually finished the game with a W. Man oh man am I proud of the New York Football Giants.

Patriots @ Steelers 17-14

Last week, Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt suffered a pectoral injury and his presence was missed this week by Pittsburgh. The Steelers struggled to stop the Patriots and New England refused to be embarrassed two weeks in a row.

Colts @ Jaguars 0-24

Yo! The Colts laid a big ol’ goose egg. The Jags seem to be the Colts kryptonite. Indy hasn’t been able to take home a win in Jacksonville since 2014. Could “Sacksonville” be back, or are the Colts just that bad?  The Jags sacked Matt Ryan five times, intercepted him three times and held Jonathan Taylor to just 54 rushing yards. And, yes, it was a mistake to bench James Robinson in fantasy as he ran 23 times for 64 yards and a 37 yard touchdown. Side note, even if I had started Robinson I still would’ve lost miserably in fantasy.

Dolphins @ Ravens 42-38

The Ravens thought that they had this game all buttoned up and then the Dolphins, 21 points down, rallied in the fourth quarter to win the game. Tua Tagovailoa had 6 touchdowns, four of which came in the fourth quarter, shocking the Ravens players and fans alike. I guess Tua has finally gotten a handle on quarterbacking in the NFL. The days of Ryan Fitzpatrick being called to the rescue are long in the past.

Falcons @ Rams 27-31

Like the Dolphins, the Falcons also made a comeback in the fourth quarter against the Rams. Only the Rams have Jalen Ramsey on their defense and he said, nope not on my watch. Ramsey picked off Marcus Mariota’s pass in the end zone ending the drive and the comeback for the Falcons.

Seahawks @ 49ers7-27

The 49ers were shocked when Trey Lance was carted off the field with a season ending ankle injury but all wasn’t lost because Jimmy G came to the rescue. Garoppolo didn’t miss a beat, throwing a touchdown on his first full drive and never looked back. He led the 49ers to an easy victory over the struggling Seahawks.

Bengals @ Cowboys 17-20

Stupid Cowboys. They were supposed to lose horribly because Dak was out and I started the Bengals defense. Things just didn’t go my way in fantasy this week.  They didn’t go the Bengals way either. Cooper Rush shocked the nation in his first start as a Cowboy in the NFL. Great, this is just what we need, another ginger QB. I’m just bitter because I got the pick wrong and I lost my tight end in fantasy, Dalton Schultz.

Texans @ Broncos 9-16

The Broncos did bounce back but it took them till the fourth quarter to score their first and only touchdown. Maybe it’s because the home team seemed to be booing their own quarterback. Why all the hate for Russell Wilson?

Cardinals @ Raiders 29-23 OT

Last season the Raiders won all of their overtime games. This season, not so much. The Cardinals came clawing back from a 20 point deficit after halftime to send the game into overtime. It didn’t look good for them until Byron Murphy picked up Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow’s fumble and returned it for a touchdown, ending the game.

Bears @ Packers 10-27

It was Aaron Jones not Aaron Rodgers who really got the Packers their first home win of the season. Jones rushed for 132 yards, a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown.

Titans @ Bills 7-41

Yikes. The Bills are scary good after two games. They are definitely firing on all cylinders. Offense, defense, special teams. I mean they made the Titans look BAD.

Vikings @ Eagles 7-24

Speaking of looking bad, the Vikings forgot to show up in Philly. I was down about 100 points in fantasy so I had no hope for a win but I thought Dalvin Cook would have done better than 7.6 points! Ugh. This is going to be a long season.

WEEK 3

Thursday, September 21st

Steelers (1-1) @ Browns (1-1) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)

With the Steelers Watt-less and the Browns embarrassed by last week’s unraveling I’m going to pick the Browns to win this game.

Sunday, September 25th

Texans (0-1-1) @ Bears (1-1) (1pm CBS)

This game is a tossup. I mean neither team is what you would call “good”. I guess I’ll pick the Bears to win this game but I wouldn’t be surprised if I was wrong. Lovie Smith will be back in Chicago but as the away head coach this time around so the Texans might play harder for him? Who knows.

Raiders (0-2) @ Titans (0-2) (1pm FOX)

Oooof. Both teams are winless, what are the odds that this game ends in a tie? Either team could and should win this game. I’m going to pick the Titans for the win just because they are the home team.

Chiefs (2-0) @ Colts (0-1-1) (1pm CBS)

I think the Colts will play better than they did last week but I think that’s also the case for the Chiefs. I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game.

Bills (2-0) @ Dolphins (2-0)  (1pm CBS)

This should be a better matchup for the Bills than last week but I am still picking the Bills to win. I’d be scared to play the Bills if I were any other team in the NFL. These guys are scary good.

Lions (1-1) @ Vikings (1-1) (1pm FOX)

The Vikings *should* win this game but once again I wouldn't be surprised if they blew it. And once again I’m picking them to win only because they are the home team.

Ravens (1-1) @ Patriots (1-1)  (1pm FOX)

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is listed as questionable for this game due to an elbow injury. If Lamar does play I’m picking the Ravens to win this game. Even if he doesn’t play I’m still picking the Ravens to win this game.

Bengals (0-2) @ Jets (1-1)  (1pm CBS)

Welp. I’ve got the Bengals defense… I guess I’ll pick them to win the game. If the Bengals lose to the Jets I’ll officially call the Bengals to have a Super Bowl hangover.

Eagles (2-0)  @ Commanders (1-1) (1pm FOX)

I really really really hope the Commanders can give the Eagles their first loss. This isn’t likely though. I’m begrudgingly picking the Eagles to win this game.

Saints (1-1) @ Panthers (0-2) (1pm FOX)

I’m hoping that Alvin Kamara is back in the line up. Other than that, I don’t really care who wins. I guess, when in doubt, I’ll pick the Panthers to win because they are home.

Jaguars (1-1) @ Chargers (1-1) (4:05pm CBS)

I think that the Chargers will win this game and not just because they are the home team.

Rams (1-1) @ Cardinals (1-1) (4:25pm FOX)

I’m picking the Rams to win this game, for no other reason than they are the Super Bowl champions.

Falcons (0-2) @ Seahawks (1-1) (4:25pm FOX)

Historically the Seahawks don’t lose at home. I think that’ll be the case once again as they host the Falcons. I’m picking the Seahawks for the win.

Packers (1-1) @ Buccaneers (2-0) (4:25pm FOX)

Tom Brady is without 3 of his top receivers for this game and the guy is 45. He’s been in the league FOREVER and one thing I’ve learned watching him is, you don’t count him out. It may not be Brady who wins it for the Bucs this week, it’ll probably be their stellar defense, but I am picking the Bucs to beat the Packers.

49ers (1-1) @ Broncos (1-1) (8:20pm NBC)

This should be a good game. The theme of the week seems to be when you don’t know who to pick, pick the home team. I’m picking the Broncos to win this game.

Monday September 26th

Cowboys (1-1) @ NY Giants (2-0) (8:15pm ESPN/ABC/ESPN+)

The Giants haven’t started a season 3-0 since 2009. It’s time G-men, it’s time. If there was ever a time to beat the Cowboys it’s now. Take advantage of a backup quarterback, and a lot of early season injuries. Protect Danny, move the ball on offense and stop the ball on defense. Easy peasy. If the game does go sideways it’s nice to know I can lean on the Manningcast for entertainment. I hope I can just enjoy the game! I’m picking the home team to win this game. GO G-MEN!

GO G-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!
