The Shenoa Report Week 4 '22 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
September 29, 2022
Regular Season Week 4

Miami and Philly are the only two teams in the NFL with a perfect record heading into week 4. The Raiders are the only team who is 0-3 this season. The Texans don’t have a win yet but they’ve got a tie.

Week 4 will bring the first London game as well as Crucial Catch month. Cancer sucks. We have all been personally affected by that horrible word. In the month of October, while watching the NFL you’ll see some rainbow colors on uniforms, as well as some watercolor like patterns on hats and hoodies. This is to show support, raise awareness, and bring attention to cancer, research, those lost, and the survivors. Since 2009, the first year of the NFL's Crucial Catch campaign, the NFL’s work has raised more than $23 million for the American Cancer Society and has supported over 600,000 cancer screenings. When you buy anything with the Crucial Catch logo on it from the NFL shop all proceeds go towards cancer research. The NFL does not retain any profits generated by royalties received due to the sale of Crucial Catch products. All dollars are donated to the American Cancer Society. Cancer sucks. Please, get yourself checked, early detection saves lives.

I barely squeaked out a win in fantasy, huge shoutout to Saquon for being a bright light in an otherwise dismal performance for the Giants on Monday night. And I went 10-6  in picks this past week. Before we get into week 4 let’s recap week 3!

Steelers @ Browns 17-29

The Browns were able to bounce back and beat their division rivals. The final score is deceiving because it was a close game throughout. On the final play of the game the Steelers needed to get all the way down to the other end zone to have any chance at winning. They threw a couple of laterals with the hopes of inching their way down the field. Of course it didn’t work, Najee Harris fumbled the ball and the Browns ran it in for a garbage touchdown.

Texans @ Bears 20-23

This was a pretty evenly matched game. It was close throughout but nothing really exciting happened. I mean, I can imagine many fantasy owners have anyone on their team from these two squads. It was a game which happened but there is nothing to write home about.

Raiders @ Titans 22-24

The Raiders are now the only team in the NFL that don’t have a win this season. Derrick Henry and the Titans looked much, much improved, but that could be because they were playing the Raiders.

Chiefs @ Colts 17-20

This game was the first shocker of the week. I really can’t believe the Chiefs lost to the Colts. I mean the Jags shut out the Colts just last week, and the Chiefs have been playing so well. Maybe the Chiefs downplayed quite literally. It must be humbling to be beaten by Matt Ryan.

Bills @ Dolphins 19-21

Speaking of shockers…. This game. Man. I’m still in disbelief. The Dolphins showed why they are still undefeated and the Bills will have to learn from their mistakes. There was a play in the first half where it looked like Tua was concussed. He got up initially, stumbled, fell into his other players who held him up and off the field.  He came back into the game in the second half and finished the game. The initial ruling was not a concussion but the NFLPA is looking into the matter.  At the end of the game there was a “butt punt” where the Dolphins tried to punt the ball, but the ball hit the butt of one of the Dolphins defenders and the ball went out through the back of the end zone. It gave the Bills a safety but not the lead.  The Bills did have a chance to take the lead but poor clock management and slow reactions let the clock expire before a game winning field goal could be made. Poor Bills. The Bills didn’t take the loss lightly. Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey slammed his headset and began throwing paper and notebooks in the coaches' box when time ran out and many Bills players were visibly upset.

Lions @ Vikings 24-28

Ugh! So, with my first pick of the draft I selected Dalvin Cook. I’m starting to think I made a mistake. Cook finally got his first touchdown of the season before leaving the game due to a shoulder injury. So frustrating.l I aso picked up Alexander Mattison later in the draft but had him on my bench when he became a playmaker when Cook went out. Silver lining? I got the pick correct.

 Ravens @ Patriots 37-26

Lamar Jackson accounted for five touchdowns in this win over the Patriots. Not only did New England lose the game they also lost Mac Jones for at least a few weeks after he left this game with a high ankle sprain.

Bengals @ Jets 27-12

The Bengals defense earned me 15 points, and I got this pick right and the Bengals won their first game of the season. Joe Burrow, though pressured, did not throw an interception in the win.

Eagles @ Commanders 24-8

I’ve learned my lesson. Next week I’ll have Devonta Smith in my lineup. He put up over 30 points on my bench this week. I don’t like that the Eagles are winning games, but if they continue, I’ll need to capitalize in fantasy.

Saints @ Panthers 14-22

Kamara was back in the lineup  for the Saints but he didn’t really help his team, or my fantasy team. He did have some rushing yards but the fumble didn’t help. This game was sloppy and quite frankly I’m surprised there was a winning team at all.

Jaguars @ Chargers 38-10

Wait a second, are the Jags good again? Is “Sacksonville” back? It’s a possibility. It probably helped that Kenan Allen was out and yeah, my bench killed it this week. James Robinson, on my bench, 20 points.

Rams @ Cardinals 20-12

The Cardinals continue to struggle at home. They’ve now lost both of their home games this season. The Rams are on an upward trend, probably because Cooper Kupp is pretty much carrying the entire team. I miss my fantasy team from last season, mostly I miss Cooper Kupp.

Falcons  @ Seahawks 27-23

The Seahawks lost at home, against the Falcons. This is not good. Atlanta’s Cordarrelle Patterson ran all over Seattle in this win. Patterson had over 140 rushing yards and a touchdown on the day, and the Falcons are no longer winless.

Packers @ Buccaneers 14-12

Tom Brady tried to tie the game as time expired to send it into overtime but couldn’t connect with anyone to get the two point conversion. Brady had more passing yards than Aaron Rodgers but Rodgers had more touchdowns and interceptions. For the first time I was actually pulling for the Bucs and didn’t want them to lose. Bummer.

49ers @ Broncos 10-11

It’s safe to say that Russell Wilson has not found his groove in Denver. He had nine three-and-outs, no touchdown passes and only 126 yards passing. It was an ugly game and yet they still won. It helped that 49ers Jimmy G got the Broncos a safety as he tried to pass the ball after stepping out of the back of the end zone. Like I said, it was an ugly game.

Cowboys @ NY Giants 23-16

Ugh. This game hurt my heart on so many levels. The Giants could’ve won and they should’ve won. The Peyton and Eli “Manningcast” helped but the stinging pain of losing still hurts. We also lost Sterling Shepard for the rest of the season with a torn ACL on the last play of the game when Danny Jones of course threw an interception. Like I said, this one hurts.

WEEK 4

Thursday, September 29th

Dolphins (3-0) @ Bengals (1-2) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)

I dropped the Bengals defense this week in fantasy because I don’t think they can beat the Dolphins. I’m picking the Dolphins to win this game.

Sunday, October 2nd

Vikings (2-1) @ Saints (1-2) (9:30am NFLN)

This is our first overseas game of the season, note the start time. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host the game where the Saints are the “home” team. Both teams are playing like garbage, so it’ll be interesting to see who actually wins. I guess I’ll pick the Saints for the win. My two starting running backs are going head to head in the game but both are questionable and might not play. Cool. Go Dalvin Cook and Alvin Kamara…. Woooooooo….

Browns (2-1) @ Falcons (1-2) (1pm CBS)

If the Browns can stop Patterson they can and will win this game. The Browns have not lost on the road yet and the Falcons haven’t won at home. I’m picking the Browns to win this game.

Bills (2-1) @ Ravens (2-1) (1pm CBS)

I don’t think the Bills will drop two in a row. I’m picking the Bills to win this game and I think they will if they can figure out how to contain Lamar Jackson.

Commanders (1-2) @ Cowboys (2-1)  (1pm FOX)

As much as I’d like this game to end in a tie, or have Washington beat Dallas I’m picking the Cowboys to win this game. I’m hoping I’m wrong though.

Seahawks (1-2) @ Lions (1-2) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Lions to win this game. I think they get better every week and the Seahawks are very beatable.

Chargers (1-2) @ Texans (0-2-1)  (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Chargers to beat the Texans. Yes, I know the Chargers are pretty banged up already this season, but they are still better than the Texans in my opinion.

Titans (1-2) @ Colts (1-1-1)  (1pm FOX)

This should be a pretty intriguing game. Both teams only have 1 win and I think we’ve expected more for both teams. I think that the Titans will come out on top this week though. I’m picking the Titans for the win.

Bears (2-1)  @ NY Giants (2-1) (1pm FOX)

Fun fact: Saquon Barkley has the most rushing yards this season for a running back! The Giants had a wakeup call last week and hopefully they’ll bounce back this week. Before the season started I looked at the schedule and circled this game as winnable. I still stand by that decision. I’m picking the Giants to win this game! GO G-MEN!

Jaguars (2-1) @ Eagles (3-0) (1pm CBS)

I would love nothing more than to see the Jags beat the Eagles. I’ll be rooting for and pulling for Jacksonville, with a hope and a prayer. I’m picking the Eagles to win but will be super happy if and when I’m wrong.

 NY Jets (1-2) @ Steelers (1-2) (1pm CBS)

If all goes well in practice this week Zach Wilson will get the start for the Jets. I don’t think it’ll be enough for the Jets to win. I’m picking the Steelers to win this game.

Cardinals (1-2) @ Panthers (1-2) (4:05pm FOX)

Both teams need to get their act together. I actually think the Cards might win this game, therefore I’m picking the Cards to win this game.

Patriots (1-2) @ Packers (2-1) (4:25pm CBS)

With Bryan Hoyer most likely getting the start for the injured Mac Jones I think there's like a 2% chance the Patriots win this game. I’m picking the Packers for the win.

Broncos (2-1) @ Raiders (0-3) (4:25pm CBS)

On paper the Raiders have more talent. The Broncos have just gotten lucky. I’m pretty sure that because I am playing my partner in fantasy this week and he has Derek Carr as his quarterback the Raiders will win this game.

 Chiefs (2-1) @ Buccaneers (2-1) (8:20pm NBC)

Hurricane Ian is wreaking havoc on the western coast of Florida this week. The Bucs moved to Miami on Tuesday to practice there as Tampa Bay is right in the path of Ian. The NFL’s plan is to keep Sunday night football in Tampa Bay but there is a contingency plan to play the game in Minneapolis if it’s not feasible to play in FL. With all this said I have no idea who will win this game. I’ll pick the Bucs because they’ll want to win this for all of Tampa and the state of Florida.

Monday, October 3rd

Rams (2-1) @ SF 49ers (1-2) (8:15pm ESPN/ABC)

I’m going to pick the Rams to win this game, I just don’t think that the 49ers are that good.

GO G-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!

Regular Season Week 3

The New York Football Giants are 2-0 for the first time since 2016!!!!! They are also among only 6 other undefeated teams. This is something to feel good about. Something to not feel good about, my fantasy team. I lost this past week. Miserably. 137.88 to 65.2. Ugh. This week I play my mom, and it’s really up in the air who will win. I don’t like losing.

My picks were better this past week, I went 11-5. Before we get into week 3 let’s recap week 2!

Chargers @ Chiefs 24-27

This game was back and forth with the Chiefs coming out on top. Even though Justin Herbert had three touchdowns, to Patrick Mahomes’ two, Herbert threw a pick six in the fourth quarter that allowed the Chiefs to win the game.

Jets @ Browns 31-30

With less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, up by 13 points after Nick Chubb’s third touchdown of the game, the Browns head coach had his sons on the sideline so they could go onto the field for the celebration.  Then, in a New York minute, the Jets scored back to back touchdowns to stun the entire stadium, the city of Cleveland, and probably the world. Joe Flacco threw a 66 yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis with a minute and 22 seconds left in the game. After the touchdown they had a successful onside kick and went down and scored again with just 22 seconds left. The Jets were up by one and with 6 seconds left in the game Jakobi Brissett threw an interception giving the win to the Jets. It was a wild game to watch, for sure.

Commanders @ Lions 27-36

Washington tried to spoil the Lions home opener but Jared Goff and Aidan Hutchinson said NO! Goff had four touchdowns in the win, two of them to Amad St. Brown,  and Hutchinson had three sacks on Carson Wentz. After following the Lions on Hard Knocks it was so nice to see them get their first win of the season.

Buccaneers @ Saints 20-10

FFFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHHHHTTTTTTTT!!!!! Is the first thing that comes to mind about this game. The first three quarters were pretty uneventful except when Tom Brady threw a tablet on the sideline out of frustration from not being able to connect with his receivers. This also happened last season when the Bucs played the Saints in New Orleans. The NFL tried to “toddler proof” the tablet but Brady threw it and broke it nonetheless. Then the fourth quarter fight happened. Brady had just thrown a third-down incomplete pass and out of frustration started shouting at cornerback Marshon Lattimore of the Saints. Leonard Fournette came to Tom’s aid and shoved Lattimore, who shoved Fournette back. Mike Evans, who was on the sideline, rushed in and pushed Lattimore to the ground. Then chaos ensued. It was super entertaining to watch. Both Evans and Lattimore were ejected from the game. Tampa Bay went on to score 17 points to win the game without any more problems.

Panthers @ NY Giants 16-19

The Manningcast curse has been broken and Saquon Barkley had the magic elixir. I didn’t want to say anything but I was a little nervous when Saquon was a guest on last week’s broadcast of the Manning Cast on MNF. Last season when any athlete was on that show they lost the very next game they played. I mean he had a terrible game but that was because he wasn’t really involved at all until the fourth quarter. But guess what? THE GIANTS ARE 2-0 BABY!!!!! WOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOOO! It didn’t look pretty but they stayed with it and actually finished the game with a W. Man oh man am I proud of the New York Football Giants.

Patriots @ Steelers 17-14

Last week, Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt suffered a pectoral injury and his presence was missed this week by Pittsburgh. The Steelers struggled to stop the Patriots and New England refused to be embarrassed two weeks in a row.

Colts @ Jaguars 0-24

Yo! The Colts laid a big ol’ goose egg. The Jags seem to be the Colts kryptonite. Indy hasn’t been able to take home a win in Jacksonville since 2014. Could “Sacksonville” be back, or are the Colts just that bad?  The Jags sacked Matt Ryan five times, intercepted him three times and held Jonathan Taylor to just 54 rushing yards. And, yes, it was a mistake to bench James Robinson in fantasy as he ran 23 times for 64 yards and a 37 yard touchdown. Side note, even if I had started Robinson I still would’ve lost miserably in fantasy.

Dolphins @ Ravens 42-38

The Ravens thought that they had this game all buttoned up and then the Dolphins, 21 points down, rallied in the fourth quarter to win the game. Tua Tagovailoa had 6 touchdowns, four of which came in the fourth quarter, shocking the Ravens players and fans alike. I guess Tua has finally gotten a handle on quarterbacking in the NFL. The days of Ryan Fitzpatrick being called to the rescue are long in the past.

Falcons @ Rams 27-31

Like the Dolphins, the Falcons also made a comeback in the fourth quarter against the Rams. Only the Rams have Jalen Ramsey on their defense and he said, nope not on my watch. Ramsey picked off Marcus Mariota’s pass in the end zone ending the drive and the comeback for the Falcons.

Seahawks @ 49ers7-27

The 49ers were shocked when Trey Lance was carted off the field with a season ending ankle injury but all wasn’t lost because Jimmy G came to the rescue. Garoppolo didn’t miss a beat, throwing a touchdown on his first full drive and never looked back. He led the 49ers to an easy victory over the struggling Seahawks.

Bengals @ Cowboys 17-20

Stupid Cowboys. They were supposed to lose horribly because Dak was out and I started the Bengals defense. Things just didn’t go my way in fantasy this week.  They didn’t go the Bengals way either. Cooper Rush shocked the nation in his first start as a Cowboy in the NFL. Great, this is just what we need, another ginger QB. I’m just bitter because I got the pick wrong and I lost my tight end in fantasy, Dalton Schultz.

Texans @ Broncos 9-16

The Broncos did bounce back but it took them till the fourth quarter to score their first and only touchdown. Maybe it’s because the home team seemed to be booing their own quarterback. Why all the hate for Russell Wilson?

Cardinals @ Raiders 29-23 OT

Last season the Raiders won all of their overtime games. This season, not so much. The Cardinals came clawing back from a 20 point deficit after halftime to send the game into overtime. It didn’t look good for them until Byron Murphy picked up Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow’s fumble and returned it for a touchdown, ending the game.

Bears @ Packers 10-27

It was Aaron Jones not Aaron Rodgers who really got the Packers their first home win of the season. Jones rushed for 132 yards, a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown.

Titans @ Bills 7-41

Yikes. The Bills are scary good after two games. They are definitely firing on all cylinders. Offense, defense, special teams. I mean they made the Titans look BAD.

Vikings @ Eagles 7-24

Speaking of looking bad, the Vikings forgot to show up in Philly. I was down about 100 points in fantasy so I had no hope for a win but I thought Dalvin Cook would have done better than 7.6 points! Ugh. This is going to be a long season.

WEEK 3

Thursday, September 21st

Steelers (1-1) @ Browns (1-1) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)

With the Steelers Watt-less and the Browns embarrassed by last week’s unraveling I’m going to pick the Browns to win this game.

Sunday, September 25th

Texans (0-1-1) @ Bears (1-1) (1pm CBS)

This game is a tossup. I mean neither team is what you would call “good”. I guess I’ll pick the Bears to win this game but I wouldn’t be surprised if I was wrong. Lovie Smith will be back in Chicago but as the away head coach this time around so the Texans might play harder for him? Who knows.

Raiders (0-2) @ Titans (0-2) (1pm FOX)

Oooof. Both teams are winless, what are the odds that this game ends in a tie? Either team could and should win this game. I’m going to pick the Titans for the win just because they are the home team.

Chiefs (2-0) @ Colts (0-1-1) (1pm CBS)

I think the Colts will play better than they did last week but I think that’s also the case for the Chiefs. I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game.

Bills (2-0) @ Dolphins (2-0)  (1pm CBS)

This should be a better matchup for the Bills than last week but I am still picking the Bills to win. I’d be scared to play the Bills if I were any other team in the NFL. These guys are scary good.

Lions (1-1) @ Vikings (1-1) (1pm FOX)

The Vikings *should* win this game but once again I wouldn't be surprised if they blew it. And once again I’m picking them to win only because they are the home team.

Ravens (1-1) @ Patriots (1-1)  (1pm FOX)

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is listed as questionable for this game due to an elbow injury. If Lamar does play I’m picking the Ravens to win this game. Even if he doesn’t play I’m still picking the Ravens to win this game.

Bengals (0-2) @ Jets (1-1)  (1pm CBS)

Welp. I’ve got the Bengals defense… I guess I’ll pick them to win the game. If the Bengals lose to the Jets I’ll officially call the Bengals to have a Super Bowl hangover.

Eagles (2-0)  @ Commanders (1-1) (1pm FOX)

I really really really hope the Commanders can give the Eagles their first loss. This isn’t likely though. I’m begrudgingly picking the Eagles to win this game.

Saints (1-1) @ Panthers (0-2) (1pm FOX)

I’m hoping that Alvin Kamara is back in the line up. Other than that, I don’t really care who wins. I guess, when in doubt, I’ll pick the Panthers to win because they are home.

Jaguars (1-1) @ Chargers (1-1) (4:05pm CBS)

I think that the Chargers will win this game and not just because they are the home team.

Rams (1-1) @ Cardinals (1-1) (4:25pm FOX)

I’m picking the Rams to win this game, for no other reason than they are the Super Bowl champions.

Falcons (0-2) @ Seahawks (1-1) (4:25pm FOX)

Historically the Seahawks don’t lose at home. I think that’ll be the case once again as they host the Falcons. I’m picking the Seahawks for the win.

Packers (1-1) @ Buccaneers (2-0) (4:25pm FOX)

Tom Brady is without 3 of his top receivers for this game and the guy is 45. He’s been in the league FOREVER and one thing I’ve learned watching him is, you don’t count him out. It may not be Brady who wins it for the Bucs this week, it’ll probably be their stellar defense, but I am picking the Bucs to beat the Packers.

49ers (1-1) @ Broncos (1-1) (8:20pm NBC)

This should be a good game. The theme of the week seems to be when you don’t know who to pick, pick the home team. I’m picking the Broncos to win this game.

Monday September 26th

Cowboys (1-1) @ NY Giants (2-0) (8:15pm ESPN/ABC/ESPN+)

The Giants haven’t started a season 3-0 since 2009. It’s time G-men, it’s time. If there was ever a time to beat the Cowboys it’s now. Take advantage of a backup quarterback, and a lot of early season injuries. Protect Danny, move the ball on offense and stop the ball on defense. Easy peasy. If the game does go sideways it’s nice to know I can lean on the Manningcast for entertainment. I hope I can just enjoy the game! I’m picking the home team to win this game. GO G-MEN!

GO G-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Week 2 '22 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
September15, 2022
Regular Season Week 2

Week one is in the books! I won in fantasy, and the Giants won in real life! My picks weren’t great, I went 8-8,  but I’ll get there. Fun fact, the Cowboys were the ONLY team in the NFL that did not score a touchdown in week one. I’m so happy football is back.

Before we get into week two let’s recap week one!

Bills @ Rams 31-10

It might be too early to tell if the Rams have a Super Bowl Hangover, but they did not look good during this game. The Bills on the other hand, looked really amazing. It was pretty exciting that the first touchdown scored in the 2022 season gave me fantasy points. Gabe Davis caught the first touchdown pass from Josh Allen and I started Davis on my fantasy team. Speaking of fantasy, my mom is playing in my league for the first time and I have to apologize to her. I told her not to start the Bills defense and they scored 18 points, intercepting Matt Stafford 3 times. Whoops. I just thought the Rams were going to have a better day.

Steelers @ Bengals 23-20 OT

This game went into overtime with Chris Boswell kicking the winning field goal. The Steelers defense gave Joe Burrow a game he will not soon forget. Burrow threw 4 interceptions and fumbled once turning over the ball 5 times. But even though the Steelers won this game it came with quite the loss. Defensive player T.J. Watt left the game with a pectoral injury and Najee Harris left the game with a foot injury. Harris’ injury seems minor while Watt may need surgery.

Saints @ Falcons 27-26

The Saints never should've won this game. They looked like garbage but, in true Falcons fashion, Atlanta gave the game away. I think I may have made a mistake drafting Alvin Kamara… He only gave me  7.6 fantasy points in my starting lineup while Jarvis Landry went off for 18.4 points on my bench! What in the world? In other news Michael Thomas is back in the Saints line up after missing all of last season due to an ankle injury. Even Thomas had a pair of touchdown receptions to Kamara’s, oh wait Kamara didn’t do anything.

Eagles @ Lions 38-35

Detroit started and ended the game strong, they just need to work on the middle part. The Lions allowed the Eagles to score 24 points in the second quarter alone. By the 4th quarter the Eagles had a 17 point lead. The Lions came back within 3 points of tying the game but were not able to stop a Philly 4th and one conversion to seal the game. Better luck next time Lions. I was pulling for you.

49ers @ Bears  10-19

This game was basically played in a monsoon and the Bears dominated. Scoreless in the first quarter, the 49ers had the only points in the second quarter, and were up by 10 in the middle of the 3rd. And that's when the momentum changed. Justin Fields connected with Dante Pettis for a touchdown to close out the third quarter and then the Bears scored two more touchdowns in the 4th, shutting out the 49ers. I definitely got this pick wrong.

Patriots @ Dolphins 7-20

This game was really never close. And I’m really not sure why I thought the Patriots would win. I guess old habits die hard. Hey Patriots fans, are you getting better at losing? As a Giants fan, I know it takes time, but losing still stings. Sorry not sorry.

 Jaguars @ Commanders 22-28

Stupid Commanders and stupid Wentz. Carson Wentz threw four touchdowns but also had back to back interceptions. I’d like to focus on the interceptions as I picked the Jags to win this game. Lame

Ravens @ Jets  24-9

I’m going to guess that Joe Flacco did not like his reunion with the Ravens. At least they let him get a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but I think it was a pity touchdown with just a minute left in the game. It’s hard to tell if Baltimore actually has a solid team or if the Jets are just that bad. I guess time will tell.

Browns @ Panthers 26-24

Yikes! Baker Mayfield looked bad. I mean, really not good. Thankfully the Panthers were so bad they couldn’t stay on the field long enough for a lot of CMC long runs. This was good and bad for me in fantasy. My opponent had Christian McCaffrey and I had DJ Moore. Ugh. The Browns with Jacoby Brissett under center fared much better. I know they only won by 2 points but the game never seemed that close.

Colts @ Texans 20-20 OT

Clearly, neither team wanted to win this game.

 Chiefs @ Cardinals 44-21

Remember when I said this game should be pretty close and evenly matched. Hahahahahaha. I was wrong. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs dominated the Cards. Mahomes had 5 passing touchdowns utilizing four different options. Fantasy owners are loving it if Mahomes is on their roster, but KC WRs? I don’t know how much they are loving it.

Raiders @ Chargers 19-24

The last time these two played each other playoff advancement was on the line. The game was in overtime and if the Raiders hadn’t kicked a field goal to win the game both teams would have advanced. But, the Raiders kicked the field goal and the Chargers were out of the postseason. The Chargers hadn’t forgotten the last matchup and made sure that they wouldn’t lose again. The Chargers defense intercepted Derek Carr three times, one for a pick six. Even though the Chargers won the game it came at a cost. WR Keenan Allen left the game in the first half with a hamstring injury and never returned.

NY Giants @ Titans 21-20

YO! WE WON! For the first time since 2016 the Giants have won their first game of the season. Also, Saquon Barkley is BAAAAAACK!!!! He ran for 164 yards, caught a 4 yard touchdown, and scored a two point conversion which got me 33.4 points in fantasy.  Also, also, our defense held Derrick Henry to 82 rushing yards! BOOM! Also, also, also, new head coach Brian Daboll, is aggressive and takes chances. With just about a minute left in the game, and the Giants down by 7, Danny Jones connected with Chris Myarick for a touchdown. Instead of kicking the extra point to tie the game Daboll said, we’re going for two. And they did just that, a shovel pass from Danny to Saquon to the endzone for two! Now the Titans did try to win the game back with a last second field goal, but because I was on my couch watching, hands clenched, whispering, “Miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it…” So, of course Randy Bullock missed the field goal and we won!!! I was in disbelief at first and just stared at the screen. I turned to my partner and said, “He missed it? He missed it! We won? We won! We won!!!”

Packers @ Vikings 7-23

The Vikings did indeed upset their division rivals and it was fun to watch. I’m not a Kirk Cousins fan but then again I’m not an Aaron Rodgers fan either. I actually like to see them both lose, but I have to change. I can’t root against the Vikings this season as I have Dalvin Cook on my fantasy team. It would’ve been nicer if he had done more in this game but there is always next week right? It was nice seeing Aaron pout because he doesn’t have any really talented WR to help him this season.

 Buccaneers @ Cowboys 19-3

I wasn’t surprised the Bucs won this game but I was surprised how bad both teams looked. The Cowboys were on the board first with a field goal and the Bucs settled for field goals until the third quarter when they finally managed a touchdown. Dak Prescott broke his thumb during the game and like I said in the introduction, the Cowboys were the only team in the NFL to not score a touchdown in week one.

Broncos @ Seahawks 16-17

I hate to say it, but Geno Smith looked pretty decent, and not just because he was wearing neon green. Why couldn’t he have played like this for the Giants?

Seattle fans boooooooooooooed Russell Wilson as he took the field Monday night. Wilson had a chance to win the game by driving down the field late in the fourth quarter but poor clock management and a new Denver head coach, that clearly isn’t aggressive like Brian Daboll, didn’t give Wilson a chance. With the Broncos facing fourth and 5 in Seahawks territory, with a minute remaining, and all their timeouts, coach Nathaniel Hackett opted to let the clock run down to 20 seconds before sending out Brandon McManus to try the low-percentage kick. Thankfully, there was the Manning Cast to give a little entertainment during the game. Peyton called 62 timeouts in the last minute to the Broncos head coach's one.

WEEK 2

Thursday, September 15th

Chargers (1-0) @ Chiefs (1-0) (8:15pm PRIME VIDEO)

To watch this game you’ll need to have an internet connection and Amazon Prime Video. Thursday night games will only be streamed, not on a TV network. I am picking the Chiefs to win this game. Patrick Mahomes has many more weapons than the Chargers, especially with Keenan Allen out. I just hope that Mahomes connects with Juju quite a bit to help me in fantasy.

Sunday, September 18th

Jets (0-1) @ Browns (1-0) (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Browns to win this game and if they do it’ll be the first time they’ve started the season at 2-0 since 1993. You know, before most if not all of the Browns players were even born. The Browns just look more put together than the Jets, to be honest.

Commanders (1-0) @ Lions (0-1) (1pm FOX)

I am going to go out on a limb and pick the Lions to win their home opener. I could be and probably will be wrong but I stand by my pick. It’s Hard Knocks fault.

Buccaneers (1-0) @ Saints (1-0) (1pm FOX)

I’m going against some of the NFL Insiders and I am picking the Bucs to win this game. Really though, I just want Tom Brady and Alvin Kamara to get me a lot of fantasy points.

Panthers (0-1) @ NY Giants (1-0)  (1pm FOX)

Oh man, could the Giants win 2 in a row?!?! It’s improbable, but so was their last win. My rule still stands that I’ll only pick the Giants to win a game after they’ve already won a game. I just didn’t think I’d be able to pick them so early in the season. Against better judgment, I’m picking the Giants to win this game. GO GMEN!

Patriots (0-1) @ Steelers (1-0) (1pm CBS)

Neither team looked very impressive last week so who knows who will win this matchup. I guess for picks sake I’ll take the Steelers to win this game.

 Colts (0-0-1) @ Jaguars (0-1)  (1pm CBS)

I guess I’ll pick the Colts to win this game though I won’t be surprised if I’m wrong. I’m not planning on playing James Robinson again this week so he’ll probably go off for like 3 touchdowns.

Dolphins (1-0) @ Ravens (1-0)  (1pm CBS)

I think that the Ravens will win this game. I don’t have any fantasy players in the game so I don’t really care one way or another.

Falcons (0-1)  @ Rams (0-1) (4:05pm FOX)

I think that the Rams will bounce back and win this game against the Falcons. Even if the Rams have a marginally better game than week one they’ll beat Atlanta handily.

Seahawks (1-0) @ 49ers (0-1) (4:05pm FOX)

The 49ers should bounce back after drying out from their last game. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Seahawks made it a little difficult. I’m picking the 49ers for the win.

 Bengals (0-1) @ Cowboys (0-1) (4:25pm CBS)

I don’t think the Cowboys have any hope at winning this game with Dak out. I’m so confident in the Bengals that I picked up their defense in fantasy. I am picking the Bengals for the win, but I’ll need Dalton Shultz to be dominant for the Cowboys.

Texans (0-0-1) @ Broncos (0-1) (4:25pm CBS)

I think the Broncos will win this game against the Texans. I hope Denver learned a lot from last week and the coaching staff is able to implement the changes. I’m picking Denver for the win.

Cardinals (0-1) @ Raiders (0-1) (4:25pm CBS)

I think the Raiders will win this game but only because they are home. I am not confident in this pick and already regret typing these words. But I’m sticking with my decision of picking the Raiders to win this game.

Bears (1-0) @ Packers (0-1) (8:20pm NBC)

It would be truly amazing to see the Packers go 0-2 to start the season. It’s absolutely possible but not probable. I’m picking the Packers to win this game.

Monday September 19th

Titans (0-1) @ Bills (1-0) (7:15pm ESPN)

I’m pretty sure the Titans are going to start the season 0-2. I’m picking the Bills to win this game.

Vikings (1-0) @ Eagles (1-0) (8:30pm ABC)

Man, I think the Eagles will win this game and I’m not happy about it. GO DALVIN COOK! I’m picking the Eagles for the win.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Shenoa Report

September 8, 2022

Regular Season Week 1

Welcome back football, welcome back readers, welcome back The Shenoa Report.

This will be my 13th season writing this blog. I started it after a number of people asked me for my opinion on football and what teams they should root for. Please know that I am very biased, and this report is just my opinion!

The last time I wrote, the Bengals and Rams were headed to the Super Bowl. Honestly, that’s a sentence I never thought I’d write. I was happy to see the Rams win, but more so because OBJ and Matt Stafford finally got a Super Bowl Ring.

Travon Walker went #1 in the draft going to the Jaguars. Coincidently the Jags had the first pick in the 2021 draft as well. As you can see it really helped them..

Some notable moves in the off season include the Texans trading Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns for 6 draft picks. The Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos for QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant, DE Shelby Harris and 5 draft picks. Tyreek Hill is now a Dolphin, traded for 5 draft picks. Khalil Mack is no longer a Bear but a bolt instead. He went for just 2 draft picks. Davante Adams will now be catching passes from Derrick Carr as the Packers gave him up for just 2 draft picks. Matty Ice (Matt Ryan) is now a Colt, the Falcons got a 3rd round pick for him. A.J. Brown is now an Eagle. The Titans got 2 picks for him. Carson Wentz is now a Commander (another sentence I never thought I’d have to type). The Colts got 2 picks and a conditional 3rd pick.  Hollywood (Marquise) Brown will now be catching passes from Kylar Murry and not Lamar Jackson. The Ravens got a first round pick for Brown. Amari Cooper got the short end of the trade stick, he’s now in Cleveland. The Cowboys got two draft picks for him.

The Lions were the stars of HBO’s Hard Knocks this pre-season, and the Cardinals will be the stars of the inseason Hard Knocks.

Ready, set, let’s do this!

Now...

WEEK 1

Thursday, September 8th

Bills @ Rams (8:20pm NBC)

The Super Bowl Champions will host the Bills in what should be a pretty decent, well matched game to kick off the 2022-23 season.

I’m going to have to root for and pick the Bills to win this game as I drafted Gabe Davis last night and I no longer have Cooper Kupp on my fantasy team, sniff sniff tear.

Sunday, September 11th

Steelers @ Bengals (1pm CBS)

Mitch Trubisky is now the starting quarterback for the Steelers. With that said I’m going to have to pick the Bengals to win their home opener.

Saints @ Falcons (1pm FOX)

Marcus Mariota is now the quarterback for the Falcons while the Saints retained Jameis Winston. I picked up Alvin Kamara with my second pick of the draft so I’m hoping he has a monster season. I’m picking the Saints to win this game.

Eagles @ Lions (1pm FOX)

I’ve really enjoyed watching the Lions in Hard Knocks this season and will be rooting for them all year. Also, this isn’t really breaking news, I still hate the Eagles. Though I did draft their defense and Devonta Smith in fantasy last night. With all that being said, I’m picking the Eagles to win this game, but would be very happy if I was wrong.

49ers @ Bears  (1pm FOX)

Trey Lance will get the starting quarterback position for the 49ers and Justin Fields for the Bears. I think the 49ers have a better team and therefore will beat the Bears in week one.

Patriots @ Dolphins (1pm CBS)

This should be an evenly matched divisional game and I am picking the Patriots to win.

Jaguars @ Commanders (1pm FOX)

Welp, Washington finally got around to naming their football team. The Commanders. I thought it was a joke. Nope. I think I’ll continue to refer to them as the Football Team. I do think that the football team will beat the Jags. Wait, I take it back, they’ve got Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback. I’m picking the Jags to win this game.

Ravens @ Jets  (1pm CBS)

Joe Flacco, former starting quarterback for the Ravens, will face his former team as the starting quarterback for the Jets. Sorry Flacco, I don’t think you have a chance at winning this game. I’m picking the Ravens for the win.

Browns @ Panthers (1pm CBS)

Speaking of former starting quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield will play his first regular season game as a Panther against his former team the Browns. The Browns will start quarterback Jacoby Brissett as Deshaun Watson is suspended the first 11 games of the season. I’m going to have to pick the Panthers to win this game as I picked up DJ Moore and no longer have Nick Chubb.

Colts @ Texans (1pm CBS)

Matt Ryan is now a Colt. It’s weird. Davis Mills is the Texans starting quarterback. The Colts still have RB Jonathan Taylor so I’m picking the Colts to win this game.

Chiefs @ Cardinals (4:25pm CBS)

I think this is going to be an evenly matched game. I picked up JuJu Smith-Schuster so I hope he becomes bffs with Patrick Mahomes this season. For this reason I am picking the Chiefs to win this game.

Raiders @ Chargers (4:25pm CBS)

The Raiders picked up Davante Adams in the offseason. Will this help Derek Carr? Maybe. Will they win this week? Probably not. I’m picking the Chargers to win their home opener.

NY Giants @ Titans (4:25pm FOX)

Ugh. This is going to be a long season. The Giants are now in their sixth “rebuilding” year and don’t seem to be getting any better. I could go on and on about how terrible they’ve been but I need to save some of my words for the rest of this season. I named my fantasy team GIANT Expectations again this season and I drafted Saquon Barkley. Maybe he’ll be better this year? I’m not dumb, I’m picking the Titans to win this game. I hope I’m wrong. GO GMEN!

Packers @ Vikings (4:25pm FOX)

Aaron doesn’t really have a WR1 anymore. I think it’s really going to hurt the Packers. I don’t like the Vikings per se but I did draft Dalvin Cook so I hope he also has a monster year. I think I’ll pick the Vikings to upset the Packers. Nah, just kidding, I’m picking the Packers for the win.

Buccaneers @ Cowboys (8:20pm NBC)

I hope you are sitting down for this. You guys, I drafted Tom Brady as my starting quarterback. I’m just going to let that sink in.

It should be an interesting season for Brady and the Bucs. I read a headline that said that Tom and Gisselle are not living together right now. This is good. Now he can focus on being a tier one QB and help me win my league this season. I’m picking the Bucs to win this game.

Monday September 12th

Broncos @ Seahawks (8:15pm ESPN/ABC)

The last quarterback shuffle of the week is Monday night when the Russell Wilson led Broncos face the Geno Smith led Seahawks. I don’t see great things happening for the Seahawks this season. I’m picking the Broncos to win this game. Most importantly, Peyton and Eli will be back with the Manning Cast!

Happy Week One!!!!!

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
