The Shenoa Report

Conference Championship

The divisional round did not disappoint. I went 0-4 on picks, so maybe I shouldn’t have been so boastful last week. All the games were close and three out of the four were decided on the last play of the game. The last one went into overtime, so in actuality that one was decided on the last play as well. In essence all the games were heartbreakers for the losing teams, as there were no blowouts.

As always I’ll recap the divisional round but I must say, It’ll be nice to NOT see Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady moving forward in the playoffs.

There was much rejoicing around the league this week as it was reported that both Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady have retired from the game of football. Honestly it’s about freakin time for both of them, Big Ben more so as he has said he’s going to retire for the last 5 years.

As a Giants fan, I will not miss either of them. Really, only Steelers, Patriots, and Buccaneers fans are devastated. Speaking of the Giants, we have a new GM, Joe Schoen, and head coach, Brian Daboll. Both guys are from the Buffalo Bills so I am cautiously optimistic, though I said the same thing when Joe Judge was hired.

Today we find out who will be going to the Super Bowl but first, the recap of last weekend.

Bengals @ Titans 19-16

This game was pretty incredible. I mean, all the games were, but I really didn’t think that the Bengals had what it took to win. I was wrong. The Titans, fresh off their bye and equipped with Derrick Henry should've won. The Titans defense sacked Joe Burrow 9 times and still lost. It helped that the Bengals picked off Ryan Tannihill three times. It was rookie Evan McPherson who kicked the game winning field goal as time expired. Right before he did he said to Joe Burrow, “Welp, it’s time to go to the AFC championship game”, and that's where they are headed.

49ers @ Packers 13-10

The 49ers are still perfect against the Aaron Rodgers Packers when it comes to the divisional round. Rodgers is the first quarterback in NFL history to lose four playoff starts to a single opponent. The Packers started off strong with an AJ Dillon touchdown run in the first quarter but then they went silent, until a field goal in the fourth quarter. The 49ers didn’t even get onto the board until the 3rd quarter with a Robbie Gould field goal. It was a really good defensive game and it was the 49ers special teams that came out on top. In the fourth quarter with less than 5 minutes in the game, 49ers special teams player Talanoa Hufanga returned a blocked punt for a touchdown to tie the game. And as time expired Robbie Gould proved clutch again, kicking a 45 yard field goal to knock the Packers out of the postseason.

Rams @ Buccaneers 30-27

The Rams dominated the first half of the game. Cooper Kupp was his amazing self and Matt Stafford looked right at home in the playoffs.  It looked like the Rams were going to run away with it until Tom Brady was, well, Tom Brady. It was like he finally remembered he had Leonard Fournette on his team and got him heavily involved. Fournette had two touchdowns in the second half of the game as the Bucs mounted their comeback. Their defense also stepped up big time causing stupid Cam Akers to fumble the ball twice. It was awful. It was like so many other times, watching a Brady come back, and thinking there was nothing to be done to stop it. But this time, Brady left too much time on the clock for the Rams and Matt Gay kicked the game winning 30 yard field goal as time expired. Little did we know this would be the last time we would see Brady’s pouty face on the sideline.

Bills @ Chiefs 36-42 OT

I’m still not ready to recap this game. I think there should be someone on the sidelines that their only job is to listen to the broadcast when Tony Romo is calling the game and tell the coaches what Tony is saying, so they can act accordingly. With 13 seconds left in the game had the Bills kicked the ball on the ground, not out of the endzone for a touchback, more time would have run off the clock and Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t have had enough time to drive up the field, get the field goal, and send it into overtime. Also, overtime rules have got to change! In 91% of playoff games that go to overtime, the coin toss winner is also the winner of the game. Both teams should at least get a chance to possess the ball. And another thing, the Bills defense should’ve stepped up and not allowed Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelsey to get so wide open! Ugh! I’m still mad, upset, and angry. And I am not a die hard Bills fan AND I like the Chiefs. The game was a game for the ages, it just sucks that Buffalo couldn’t get the win. What a rollercoaster of emotions. It was the best game of the weekend, high scoring, a shoot out for sure. It just had the wrong ending.

Conference Championship

Sunday, January, 30th

Bengals (10-7) @ Chiefs (12-5) (3pm CBS)

The last time these guys played each other, just a few weeks ago, the Bengals won. I think today will be different. The Bengals are playing on another level, but the Chiefs are also peaking at the perfect time. Man, I think this game is going to be a shootout but ultimately I’m picking the Chiefs. We’ll see. As you know I went 0-4 on my picks last week so I really don’t have high hopes this week. I just want it to be a good game.

49ers (10-7) @ Rams (12-5) (6:30pm FOX)

We are probably a house divided today. Eric had Deebo Samuel on his fantasy team this season and I had so many players on the Rams (Cooper Kupp, OBJ, and Sony Michel). Although, his kicker was Matt Gay. I am for sure pulling for the Rams. I am also picking them for the win. I just hope that Matthew Stafford doesn’t crumble under pressure and that Cam Aikers can hang onto the damn ball.

Thanks for the edit Eric!

The Shenoa Report

Divisional Round

Guys, for the first time ever, I went 6-0 on my picks in the wild card weekend! Even better, the Bills are still in the playoffs while the Eagles, Cowboys, and Steelers are not! It was a really good week for football. Now we are heading into the divisional round. There will be two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. But before I get to this week let’s recap the wild card games.

Raiders @ Bengals 19-26

The Bengals were 4 for 4 on scoring drives in the first half, building up an impressive lead against the Raiders. One of the touchdowns that put them up 20-6 was a little controversial though. One of the officials “accidently” blew their whistle before the play was over. According to the rule book the play should not have counted, nor the touchdown. The refs got together, along with New York, and decided that the play and touchdown would count. The Bengals won by a touchdown. Do you see what I’m getting at? Raiders fans are not happy. This is the first time in over 30 years that the Bengals won a postseason game. They were due. Cinnicnati will now travel to Tennessee to face the Titans in the divisional round.

Patriots @ Bills 17-47

The Bills crushed the Pats.  Buffalo did not punt, have (or need) a field goal attempt, or turn the ball over in their win over the Patriots. This hasn’t been done in a game since at least 1950.  Josh Allen had zero interceptions and 5 touchdown passes. In other news, this was Bill Belichick’s largest playoff loss as a head coach. The Bills beat the Pats in 2 of their 3 matchups this season, this one, obviously being their biggest win. I am so excited that I can still root for the Bills for at least another week in the postseason. The Bills will travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Chiefs in the divisional round next.

Eagles @ Buccaneers 15-31

To say that the Eagles lost is an understatement, but it makes me so happy to say it anyway. The Bucs made an example of Philly, stomping them at every turn. The Bucs defense picked off Jalen Hurts twice and just made the Eagles plain miserable. Tom Brady doesn’t really like playing the Eagles as they cost him a Super Bowl ring, so this win was a little more sweet for him. The Bucs will host the Rams in the divisional round.

49ers @ Cowboys 23-17

This was the best upset. The Cowboys did NOT look like a team that just weeks before won their division title. Actually, they looked pathetic. It was great. On the Cowboys last drive they did have a chance to tie the game to send it to overtime, but with poor clock management and stupid mistakes the clock expired before they got a chance. Well done 49ers, and thanks for beating the Cowboys. Next up the 49ers will head to Green Bay to face the Packers in the divisional round. So, 9ers fans, enjoy this win right now…

Steelers @ Chiefs 21-42

The Chiefs threw Big Ben the nicest retirement party and dominated the Steelers all at the same time. Actually the game started off pretty slow, with no scores in the first quarter. After an ugly turnover that put the Steelers in the lead 7-0 early in the second quarter, it was like a switch was flipped and the Chiefs were off to the races. That was the first and last time the Steelers would have the lead. Patrick Mahomes had 5 touchdown passes in this win over the Steelers. The Chiefs will go on to host the Bills in the divisional round.

Cardinals @ Rams 11-34

I’m pretty sure the Cards forgot they had a playoff game. They played horribly. I wanted the score to be closer, but I am happy that the Rams got the win. Matthew Stafford has been in the league for 13 years and this is his first playoff win. That’s tenacity. OBJ had the same kind of feels as this was also his first playoff win in the NFL.

I, of course, was just excited that there was a Manningcast. The guests for the season finale of the Peyton and Eli show were Larry Fitzgerld, Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, and Russel Wilson. It was a solid performance. Eli sported his Death Row Records chain from Snoop Dogg while Peyton threw shots at Eli by bringing up Joe Judge’s play calling for the Giants abysmal season. We also learned that the Rock has a skeleton of a T-rex head named Stan. I can’t wait for next season on Monday nights with the Mannings.

As I said before, the Rams will travel to Tampa Bay to face the Bucs in the divisional round.

DIVISIONAL ROUND

Saturday, January 22th

Bengals (10-7) @ Titans (12-5) (4:30pm CBS)

The Bengals suffered some pretty serious injuries in their win last week. DT Larry Ogunjobi will not play due to a season ending ankle injury. DE Trey Hendrickson suffered a concussion last week but has cleared protocols and will play for Cincinnati. The Titans had a first round bye and are coming into this game as healthy as they have been all season, and they are getting Derrick Henry back! I think it’ll be a close game but ultimately I think the Titans will win this game. I’m picking the Titans for the win.

49ers (10-7) @ Packers (13-4) (8:15pm FOX)

The 49ers are also coming into this game pretty beat up. DE Nick Bosa suffered a concussion last week but has cleared protocols and will play, while CB Ambry Thomas and DE Jordan Willis are questionable. QB Jimmy Garopollo is also playing with a sore thumb and shoulder. The Packers on the other hand had a first round bye and are coming into this game pretty healthy. I am going to be rooting for the 49ers but I expect the Packers to win this game. It’s going to be cold and Aaron Rodgers doesn’t lose at home, at least he hasn’t yet this season. In fact, the Packers are 8-1 all time at home in the divisional round, their only loss coming from the NY Giants in the 2011 season. I’m picking the Packers for the win, and hoping I’m wrong.

Sunday, January 23rd

Note the weird times these games are starting

Rams (12-5) @ Buccaneers (13-4)  (3pm NBC)

Matthew Stafford and OBJ  just got their first win in the playoffs while Tom Brady has 35. Again, I’ll be rooting for the Rams but I think the Bucs will win this game. I just hope it’s a good one. I’m picking the Bucs for the win and hoping I’m wrong, though with Leonard Forenette back in the lineup it’ll be harder to root against Tampa.  Somehow, I’m sure I’ll manage.  Fun fact: Tom Brady is older than every opposing NFC head coach still in the playoffs. Let that sink in.

Bills (11-6) @ Chiefs (12-5) (6:30pm CBS)

I really think that the Bills can win this game. They played lights out last week and the Chiefs continue to make mistakes. They are not the same two teams that met around this time last year. The Bills are way better and the Chiefs just aren’t as good. The Chiefs are getting Clyde Edwards Helaire back but I hope that isn’t the difference maker. I’m all in on the Bills. I “Billieve”. I’m picking the Bills for the win. GO BILLS!

Thanks for the edit Eric!

The Shenoa Report Super Wild Card Weekend '22 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
January 15, 2022
Super Wild Card Weekend

It’s the first week of playoffs! Games will be on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday! Did your team make it to the postseason? Mine didn’t, but I’m just happy that we fired our head coach and our GM “retired”.

The Monday after the conclusion of the regular season is known in the NFL as Black Monday. This is the day that many coaches find themselves without a job. The Raiders, Jaguars, and Broncos didn’t wait till Monday. We all know that Jon Gruden lost his job mid season, Urban Myer made it 13 games into the season, and Vic Fangio, Denver’s head coach, was fired pretty much after the conclusion of the Broncos last game. Monday’s firings came first with the Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer and Bears head coach Matt Nagy, followed by the surprise and a little head scratching firing of Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. Giants fans everywhere couldn’t believe that Joe Judge wasn’t on Monday’s list. His name was added Tuesday, thank god, and Texans head coach David Culley was let go Thursday.

Now for the teams that made it to the playoffs. You might be surprised by who made it and who didn’t if you missed the final week of the regular season. This is a good segway into the recap of week 18! PS I went 9-7 on my picks.

Chiefs @ Broncos 28-24

It’s safe to say that the Broncos did not go down without a fight.  It was a Melvin Gordon fumble picked up by KC rookie linebacker, Nick Bolton, who ran into the endzone, scoring a touchdown in the 4th quarter that sealed both of the team’s fate. The Chiefs play the Steelers next and the Broncos just go home.

Cowboys @ Eagles 51-26

We all know that I dislike both of these teams, duh, I’m a Giants fan. But, it was really nice to see the Cowboys cream the Eagles. The Eagles have yet to beat a team this season with a winning record, and even though they are heading to Tampa for the playoffs, I think that’s where their season ends.  The Cowboys will be hosting the 49ers.

Steelers @ Ravens 16-13 OT

Ugh! It’s not fair. We already said goodbye to Big Ben. I can’t believe they won this game in overtime. It was Boswell’s trusty foot that kicked the field goal, sending the Steelers to the playoffs. But they didn’t get there on their own, they had big help from the Colts and the Raiders…

Bengals @ Browns 16-21

Even though the Browns missed their chance at the playoffs they finished their season with a W, and they did it without Baker Mayfield. Of course the Bengals didn’t play a lot of their starters either but still, the Browns won and I got the pick right. The Bengals will host the Raiders in their wildcard game.

Packers @ Lions 30-37

If you are a Lions fan, you should feel gosh darn proud of your team. I mean, they beat the Packers! That’s awesome. Sure, they finished with 3 wins on the season but this team has heart, and pride, and a coach that cares. Obviously, I got this pick wrong, but I’m ok with that. The Packers have the number one seed in the NFC so they won’t be playing next week.

Titans @ Texans 28-25

The Titans clinched the number one seed in the AFC with this win but the Texans fought till the very end. Even Julio Jones got his first touchdown of the season as a Texan. It was a really good, competitive game. It sucks that the Texans fired their head coach, after only one season, especially in the state the team was in. The Titans have a first round bye and will not play in the first round of the playoffs.

Colts @ Jaguars 11-26

The Colts just had to win and they were in. They controlled their own destiny. They were also the first team that Hard Knocks followed during the season. Was that added pressure? Man, they were never in this game. It was hard and shocking to watch all at the same time. The Colts hadn’t won in Jacksonville since 2015. It’s not a good streak to have. The Jaguars played lights out, and Tevor Lawrence finally started to look like an NFL quarterback for the first time in his career. It was a tough loss for the Colts for sure, and they’ll have all of the off season to think about it.

Bears @ Vikings 17-31

Both teams fired their coaches after this game. Both teams didn’t make the playoffs. It wasn’t even a really good game to watch.

Washington @ NY Giants 22-7

You guys, I’m just so thankful this season is over and we have a break from the trainwreck that is the NY Giants. It was an ugly, ugly game. There are so many things I could say about this game but I don’t want to get all worked up right now. Silver lining, Jake Fromm threw his first touchdown pass in the NFL. Good riddance Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge.

Saints @ Falcons 30-20

The Saints could have clinched a playoff berth but they needed the 49ers to lose their game. So even though New Orleans won they were denied the opportunity to get into the postseason. At least they played hard until the end, unlike some other teams…

Jets @ Bills 10-27

Speaking of other teams, the Jets did not play hard until the end. The Bills on the other hand, clinched the AFC East title with this win. The Bills will host the Patriots in the wild card game and the Jets will just go home.

Patriots @ Dolphins 24-33

I was shocked that the Patriots lost this game. I was also shocked that Brian Flores lost his job after 2 winning seasons and beating the Patriots in their season finale. The Dolphins didn’t make the playoffs and the Patriots will be heading to Buffalo for the wild card game.

Panthers @ Buccaneers 17-41

Even with the Bucs being as beat up as they are, they had no trouble defeating the Panthers at home. The Bucs will host the Eagles in the wild card game while the Panthers will not do any hosting unless they have dinner parties as they didn’t even come close to making the playoffs.

Seahawks @ Cardinals 38-30

The Cardinals did not clinch the NFC West division title because they needed a win and a Rams loss, and only half of that came true. The Cardinals will travel to LA to face the Rams in the wild card game and the Seahawks will just go home.

49ers @ Rams 27-24 OT

The 49ers needed the win more, as they wanted to go into the postseason, and a win would get them there. The Rams clinched the NFC West division title because the Cardinals lost. The 49ers are peaking at the exact right time for a good playoff run. I wouldn’t be surprised if these two teams meet again in the postseason. The 49ers started off slow but had a tremendous comeback, forcing overtime. It was a Robbie Gould field goal that propelled the 49ers into the playoffs. The Rams will host the Cards in the wild card game and the 49ers will travel to Dallas for their wild card game.

Chargers @ Raiders 32-35 OT

This game was ridiculous. Honestly though I only watched the first half because Klay Thompson was starting his first game back since 2019 with Golden State, so I watched that game instead. I missed an absolutely crazy ending, where the Raiders won their 4th overtime game, ending the Chargers season, all the while helping the Steelers get into the postseason. The kicker is, pun intended, had this game ended in a tie the Chargers and the Raiders would have both made it into the playoffs and the Steelers would not have. I’m sure Chargers fans hate the Raiders even more than they ever have. The Raiders are now headed to Cincinnati for their wild card game.

SUPER WILD CARD WEEKEND

Saturday, January 15th

Raiders (10-7) @ Bengals (10-7) (4:30pm NBC)

The Raiders haven’t won a postseason game in 19 years, while it’s been over 30 years for the Bengals. As long as this game doesn’t go into overtime, being that the Raiders have won all 4 of their games that went into OT, I’m picking the Bengals to win, and I’m rooting for them as well. In all seriousness I’m hoping overtime isn’t even an option. I’d like to see the Bengals annihilate the Raiders.

Patriots (10-7) @ Bills (11-6) (8:15pm CBS)

The weather conditions are going to be eerily the same as the last time these two teams played in Buffalo. Hopefully the outcome will be different this time. Mac Jones led the Pats to a win with only 3 passes for 15 yards. With the Giants season done I’m now a Bills fan for the postseason. I’m hoping they can actually win this game but I do have my doubts. The Patriots were embarrassed in their season finale losing to the Dolphins and I think that’s going to be enough ammunition to upset the Bills. Had the Patriots beat the Dolphins I think things would be different. Mac Jones has not played a postseason game as he is a rookie and Josh Allen has so that should help the Bills. The last time the Bills hosted a home playoff game at full capacity was December of 1996. Josh Allen was seven months old, Stefon Diggs was three years old and Tremaine Edmunds, Devin Singletary, and Gabriel Davis were not born yet.

All that being said, I’m going with my heart and picking the Bills to win this game. Hopefully that doesn’t jinx the outcome. GO BILLS!

Sunday, January 16th

Eagles (9-8) @ Buccaneers (13-4)  (1pm FOX)

I hope the Bucs punch the Eagles in the mouth. I hope that they smash them into the ground. The Eagles haven’t beat a winning team yet this season and I don’t think it starts now. I’m picking the Bucs to win this game and I’ll be rooting for them too.

49ers (10-7) @ Cowboys (12-5) (4:30pm CBS)

The last time these two teams met in the postseason was in the 1990’s. The 49ers are playing lights out right now. I’d love to see the Cowboys lose at home and I think they just might. I’m going with the upset and picking the 49ers to win this game and I’ll be pulling for them too.

Steelers (9-7-1) @ Chiefs (12-5) (8:15pm NBC)

I think it’s really nice that the Chiefs are throwing Big Ben a retirement party. I’m rooting for and picking the Chiefs to win this game and I hope they do so handley.

Monday, January 17th

Cardinals (11-6) @ Rams (12-5) (8:15pm ESPN/ABC/ESPN+)

This is the first Monday night Wild Card game in NFL’s history and on top of that we also get the Manning Cast! I really just want this to be a good game; I like both teams quite a bit. I’m going to pick the Rams to win this game.

Thanks for the edit Eric!

The Shenoa Report Week 18 '22 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report

January 8, 2022

Regular Season Week 18

This is the first NFL season in which there are 18 weeks of regular season. So, here we are, in week 18. Week 18 matchups are divisional matchups, so every game should be fun to watch. But before I get into it let’s recap week 17.

My fantasy team did way better this past week and I ended up winning and placing 3rd in our playoffs. I also did better on my picks last week going 12-4. The Giants still suck and it continues to frustrate me.

Falcons @ Bills 15-29

With this win the Bills clinched a playoff spot and eliminated the Falcons at the same time. No surprises there.

NY Giants @ Bears 3-29

Congratulations to you, yes you! You had more passing yards than Mike Glennon, who finished the day with -10 passing yards.  SMH. I’m so over this team, the coaching staff, and the people making all of the decisions. Bears fans, you're welcome for making your team look like Super Bowl contenders… I’m done.

Chiefs @ Bengals 31-34

This was a tough loss for Chiefs fans and an even more unlikely win for Bengals fans. The Chiefs snapped an eight game winning streak and lost the top seed in the AFC after losing this game. The Bengals are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase had another amazing day as Burrow connected with Chase for 3 passing touchdowns on the day.

Raiders @ Colts 23-20

I really can’t believe that the Raiders, A.) won this game, B.) still haven’t been eliminated from the playoffs, and C.) had another player arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. That’s a whole other rant that I’m not going to get into right now. The Raiders really got lucky with a last second field goal to win the game. Lame.

Jaguars @ Patriots 10-50

I say a lot of mean things about the Giants, but I’m thankful I’m not a Jags fan. Man, to lose by 40 points. Ouch. Now, that’s embarrassing.

Buccaneers  @ Jets 28-24

Speaking of embarrassing, the Bucs almost lost to the Jets. Now that would’ve been embarrassing. But the Bucs have Tom Brady and the Jets gave the Bucs just enough time for Tom to march down the field and end the game, completing a passing touchdown to Cyril Grayson. Grayson? Who is that? Well just before that final winning touchdown drive Antonio Brown allegedly refused to go into the game so he and Bruce Arians exchanged some words. In return, AB took off his gloves, jersey, pads, and t-shirt and walked off the field into the locker room. It was so bizarre to watch and a little awkward. And that’s why Tom Brady threw the game winning touchdown to Grayson and not AB.

Dolphins @ Titans 3-34

The Titans clinch their second straight AFC South title by embarrassing the Dolphins. The Tennessee defense didn’t allow any touchdowns from the Dolphins and created a hellish day for Tua. It was fun to watch.

Eagles @ Washington 20-16

The Eagles are still alive in the playoffs with this win over the Football Team. But Washington has bigger problems than just a loss. After the game was over some fans fell from the stands when a railing in the corner of FedEx Field gave way. Jalen Hurts was there to help those fans up to their feet after the incident. It was a scary situation and I hope everyone is ok, even though they were Eagles fans.

Rams @ Ravens 20-19

It wasn’t pretty but the Rams got the win over the Ravens and that’s all that matters to me. Matt Stafford was playing like he was a Lion again. He had a number of turnovers but the players around him stepped up to help win the game.

Broncos  @ Chargers 13-34

The Chargers are back in the playoffs because they got the win and both Miami and Baltimore lost.

Texans @ 49ers 7-23

Trey Lance got the start because Jimmy G is out for the 49ers. He did well and took the team to victory. The 49ers are technically still alive but will have to wait till next week so see if they clinched a spot. The Texans never even had a chance of making the playoffs.

Cardinals @ Cowboys 25-22

I was wrong! The Cardinals won! Even better, they beat the Cowboys! It was a great game to watch. Especially if you don’t like the Cowboys. The Cowboys scored 15 points in the 4th quarter but it just wasn’t enough to win at home. #sorrynotsorry

Panthers @ Saints 10-18

The Saints started Taysom Hill and the Panthers went with Sam Darnold at QB. I got this pick correct, going with the Saints. The Panthers are just about as embarrassing as the Giants. I said what I said.

Lions  @ Seahawks 29-51

This might have been Pete Carol and Russel Wilson’s last game together in Seattle and if it was, it was a hell of a game to have, with a monstrous win. Wilson finished the day with 4 passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. Even with that output, it’s the first time in a long time the Seahawks won’t be in the postseason.

Vikings @ Packers 10-37

Not surprisingly the Packers won another game at home. I would’ve been more shocked if the Vikings had won.

Browns @ Steelers 14-26

This Manning Cast had Bill Cowher, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Snoop Dogg, and Aaron Rodgers. My favorite part of the “cast” was when Snoop Dogg gifted Eli a huge gold chain for his birthday. Google to see Eli’s reaction, you won’t be sorry.

This was likely Ben Roethlisberger’s last home game as a Steeler. I guess it was nice that they got the win so that the fans could have a moment to celebrate their quarterback. I still wanted the Browns to win. Oh well.

WEEK 18

Saturday, January 8th

Chiefs (11-5) @ Broncos (7-9) (4:30pm ABC/ESPN/ESPN+)

I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game even though they’ve already clinched the playoffs and won the AFC West division title. The Chiefs could get the number 1 seed, the only first round bye, and home field advantage with a win + a Titans loss or tie OR a KC tie + Titans loss.

Cowboys (11-5) @ Eagles (9-7) (8:15pm ABC/ESPN/ESPN+)

The Cowboys have the NFC East division title and both teams are heading to the playoffs.  I’m picking the Cowboys to win this game.

Sunday, January 9nd

Steelers (8-7-1) @ Ravens (8-8) (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Ravens to win this game. The Ravens can clinch a playoff berth with a win + a Chargers loss + a Colts loss + a Dolphins loss or tie. I don’t think all that will happen to help the Ravens, but I do think they’ll win this game. The Steelers could get into the playoffs but it would take winning this game + a Colts loss + the Raiders/Chargers game not ending in a tie.

Bengals (10-6) @ Browns (7-9) (1pm FOX)

Neither Joe Burrow nor Joe Mixon will play in this game but that won’t matter because the Bengals have already clinched the AFC North division title. It’s a long shot but the Bengals could get the number 1 seed, first round bye, and home field advantage if they win + a Titans loss + a Chiefs loss + a Patriots loss OR a win + Titans loss + Chiefs loss + a Bills win. Neither of these scenarios are likely in my opinion. The Browns are just playing for pride, but will be without quarterback Baker Mayfield. I’m picking the Browns to win this game.

Packers (13-3) @ Lions (2-13-1) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Packers to win this game. The Packers have already won the NFC North, clinched the number 1 seed, have the only first round bye, and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Titans (11-5) @ Texans (4-12) (1pm CBS)

Derrick Henry has been designated to come off IR!!!!!! He won’t be in this game, but I’m still picking the Titans to win. The Titans already have the AFC South division title, but could clinch the number 1 seed, first round bye, and home field advantage with a win OR a tie + Chiefs loss or tie OR a Chiefs loss + a Bengals loss or tie + a Patriots loss or tie OR a Chiefs loss + a Bengals loss or tie + a Bills win.  The Texans never had a chance to make the playoffs in the first place.

Colts (9-7) @ Jaguars (2-14) (1pm CBS)

The Colts can clinch a playoff berth win a win or tie OR a Chargers loss + Ravens/Steelers tie OR a Chargers loss + a Steelers loss + a Dolphins win. I’m picking the Colts to win this game.

Bears (6-10) @ Vikings (7-9) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Vikings to win this game but wouldn’t be upset or shocked if the Bears actually win.

Washington (6-10) @ NY Giants (4-12) (1pm FOX)

Jake Fromm will get the start, but only because glorious Glennon broke his wrist and can’t play. Darn (there is a hint of sarcasm here). I’m still picking the Football Team to win because the stupid NY Giants are an absolute joke of a team. GO GMEN!

Saints (8-8) @ Falcons (7-9) (4:25pm FOX)

The Saints could clinch a playoff berth with a win + a 49ers loss. I’m picking the Saints for the win.

Jets (4-12) @ Bills (10-6) (4:25pm CBS)

The Bills are already going to the playoffs but they can clinch the AFC East division title with a win or a Patriots loss OR a tie and a Patriots tie. I’m picking the Bills to win this game.

Patriots (10-6) @ Dolphins (8-8) (4:25pm CBS)

The Patriots technically could get the number 1 seed that comes with a first round bye and home field throughout the playoffs but they would need to win this game and need the Chiefs, Titans, and Bills to lose. I’m pretty sure it's not going to pan out like that. The Pats can clinch the AFC East division title with a win + a Bills loss or tie OR a Patriots tie + Bills loss. I’m picking the Patriots to win this game.

Panthers (5-11) @ Buccaneers (12-4) (4:25pm CBS)

I’m picking the Bucs for the win. Tampa already has the NFC South division title.

Seahawks (5-10) @ Cardinals (11-5) (4:25pm FOX)

The Cardinals are already in the playoffs but can clinch the NFC West division title with a win and a Rams loss. I’m picking the Cardinals to win this game. J.J. Watt has been designated to come off IR and should be with the team for the playoffs. The Cardinals are undefeated when Watt is in the starting lineup.

49ers (9-7) @ Rams (12-4) (4:25pm FOX)

The Rams are also in the playoffs but could clinch the NFC West division title with a win or tie OR a Cardinals loss or tie. The 49ers could clinch a playoff berth with a win or tie OR a Saints loss or tie. I’m picking the Rams to win this game.

Chargers (9-7) @ Raiders (9-7)  (8:20pm NBC)

I’m picking the Chargers to win this game. I have really started to dislike the Raiders this season. The Raiders do have a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a win OR a tie + a Colts loss OR a Colts loss + a Steelers loss or tie. The Chargers will clinch a playoff berth with a win or a tie.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!

The Shenoa Report Week 17 '22 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
January 2, 2022
Regular Season Week 17

Happy New Year and good riddance 2021! Without the Thursday night game this week, I’ve procrastinated till now. Whoops.

The majority of the games will be today (Sunday) and there will be one Monday night game, a very normal schedule to start the new year.

This past week the world lost some legends, we will miss you John Madden and Betty White. The NFL will be honoring John Madden at the beginning of every game this week with a moment of silence.

In other news, the NFL has changed their Covid policy once again in accordance with the CDC. Now, if a player tests positive regardless of vaccination status, that player can return to the field in 5 days rather than 10 days as long as the player is asymptomatic or their symptoms are waning. I have my opinions on this but because I’ve waited till the last minute to write this report I’ll be keeping those opinions to myself, at least for this week.

My fantasy team did way better this past week, so I’m hopeful to place 3rd in our playoffs. I also did better on my picks last week going 11-5. The Giants still suck and it continues to frustrate me.

Here is the recap for week 16.

49ers @ Titans 17-20

The Titans clawed their way back into this game after being shutout in the first half. And they did it without their starters on the left side of their offensive line. It was pretty incredible. Thanks covid for making football more interesting.

Browns @ Packers 22-24

I really didn’t think that this game would be close at all. The Browns held their own but when you are playing Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay you are probably going to lose. The Packers are still perfect at home this season.

Colts @ Cardinals 22-16

I knew in my heart I should’ve picked the Colts to win this game. I just knew it, but I so wanted the Cardinals to win it clouded my judgment. The Cards are struggling down the stretch and I’m a bit worried for them. The Colts on the other hand seem to will themselves to win, and continue to do so.

Lions @ Falcons 16-20

The Falcons have realized that if they actually play hard all four quarters they can win games. That was the case in the fourth quarter when the Falcons picked off Lions backup QB Tim Boyle to secure the win.

Buccaneers @ Panthers 32-6

It’s safe to say that the Bucs have bounced back after being shut out the week before. It also helped that they were playing the pathetic Panthers. This was an easy pick to get correct.

Ravens @ Bengals 21-41

If you’re a Ravens fan you are probably pretty embarrassed right now. Joe Burrow had a franchise record breaking day with 525 passing yards. He also didn’t feel bad about throwing deep passes in the fourth quarter to get the new record even though they had secured the win. I’ll paraphrase what he said about it, “They did it to us last season (running up the score) so we didn’t feel bad about doing it to them.” Way to go Joe!

Chargers @ Texans 29-41

Well that’ll teach me to pick up and start the Chargers defense. They “earned” me -5 points. Cool. The Texans, who started Davis Mills at QB, had a way better day than the Chargers. Justin Herbert had 2 interceptions and only one touchdown while Mills had no interceptions and 2 touchdowns. The Texans had a really fun day, clearly.

Rams @ Vikings 30-23

I’m a little surprised the Rams won, as Matt Stafford did not have a good game at all. He had 3 interceptions and one touchdown. Thankfully that one touchdown went to OBJ so I got some points in fantasy. Unfortunately I didn’t start Sony Michel who had over 100 rushing yards and a touchdown. You win some you lose some, which seems to be the Vikings motto. I’m glad this one was a loss for them.

Bills @ Patriots 33-21

Well, the Bills surprised me, for sure.  Their defense really stepped up, picking off Mac Jones twice and their offense was definitely clicking. Josh Allen had three passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. I’m still shocked that the Patriots lost to the Bills at home.

Jaguars @ Jets 21-26

It wasn’t a pretty game but the Jets got their fourth win of the season.

NY Giants @ Eagles 10-34

OK. I’m so frustrated with this team. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they’ve all got to go! Get rid of everyone, except Saquon! Joe Judge is awful! I mean, I was so excited that Jake Fromm was starting and even though he wasn’t spectacular the score was tied at 3 going into the half. But because he threw one interception, that wasn’t even his fault, you bench him and put Mike Glennon in?!? Then Glennon throws a pick six and you keep him in? IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE!  AHHHHHHHHH! PS I hate the Eagles. I’m done.

Bears @ Seahawks 25-24

This was a very snowy game in which Nick Foles started for the Bears after not taking a snap in over a year and brought the Bears to an unlikely victory over the Seahawks. With this loss the Seahawks have been eliminated from playoff contention. Crazy.

Steelers @ Chiefs 10-36

The Chiefs won without Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelsey, while Patrick Mahomes still had three touchdown passes and zero interceptions. Byron Pringle picked up the slack and had two receiving touchdowns. It’s always nice to see the Chiefs win especially if it comes with a Steelers loss.

Broncos @ Raiders 13-17

This wasn’t an exciting game and I’m not happy that the Broncos lost. Mainly because I picked them to win. More frustrating, the Raiders are still technically alive and could slip into the playoffs with this win. Boo. Mostly I’m mad because Darren Waller hasn’t played the second half of the season and his backup TE is a joke.

Washington @ Cowboys 14-56

This game was a joke. It was on, but I didn’t really watch it, because it was a joke.

Dolphins @ Saints 20-3

With most of the Saints on the covid list it’s no wonder that the Dolphins won this game. Fun fact: The Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to lose 7 in a row and then win 7 in a row.

WEEK 17

Sunday, January 2nd

Falcons (7-8) @ Bills (9-6) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Bills to win this game, and frankly if I’m wrong, the Bills are in big trouble.

NY Giants (4-11) @ Bears (5-10) (1pm CBS)

Mike Glennon will be starting for the Giants. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It also looks like there will be no timeshare with Jake Fromm. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Giants, you frustrate me to no end. This is a game that we actually could and should win. But we won’t, because we’re the Giants, led by Joe Judge, who continually makes bad coaching decisions. I’m picking the Bears to win this game. Prove me wrong. GO G-MEN!

Chiefs (11-4) @ Bengals (9-6) (1pm CBS)

The Bengals can clinch a playoff spot with a win, but the Chiefs want that number 1 seed that comes with home field advantage and a first round bye. I think this game will be a shoot out and I’m picking the Chiefs for the win.

Raiders (8-7) @ Colts (9-6) (1pm FOX)

The big news out of Indy this week was that Carson Wentz, who is unvaccinated, tested positive for covid. Now had he tested positive just a week before he wouldn’t have been able to play in this game. But due to the protocol change by the CDC and NFL, Wentz tested out this morning and has been cleared to play. This should be an interesting game to watch. I’m picking the Colts for the win.

Jaguars (2-13) @ Patriots (9-6) (1pm CBS)

I’m pretty sure the Patriots will have no problem winning this game and I’m picking them to do just that.

Buccaneers (11-4) @ Jets (4-11) (1pm FOX)

Like the Patriots, I have full confidence that the Buccaneers will beat the Jets.

Dolphins (8-7)  @ Titans (10-5) (1pm CBS)

The Dolphins are on a long winning streak, will it end today? With a Titans win, they can clinch the AFC South title and have the possibility of getting that number 1 seed, just in time to get a healthy Derrick Henry back. I’ll be rooting for and picking the Titans to win this game and end the Dolphins streak.

Eagles (8-7) @ Washington (6-9) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the stupid Eagles to win this game, but I will be rooting for the Football Team and hoping they stuff Philedelphia.

Rams (11-4) @ Ravens (8-7) (1pm FOX)

The Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson once again. Regardless, I’m picking the Rams to win this game. I hope the Rams have a monster game, as I have 3 Rams in my starting lineup. I’d like to win big and I need the Rams to have a great game to do it.

Broncos (7-8) @ Chargers (8-7) (4:05pm CBS)

The Chargers could get back into a wild-card spot with a win and losses by Miami and Baltimore. So, according to my picks they could do it. I’m picking the Chargers to win this game. We’ll see if they get that wild-card spot.

Texans (4-11) @ 49ers (8-7) (4:05pm CBS)

Jimmy G is out for the 49ers and the 49ers need to win their last 2 games of the season to get into the playoffs. Trey Lance will have the start today against the Texans. It is definitely possible that the Texans will upset San Francisco but I’m going to pick the 49ers for the win.

Cardinals (10-5) @ Cowboys (11-4) (4:25pm FOX)

I’ll probably get this pick wrong because I refuse to pick the Cowboys. I’m starting Kyler Murray, Zach Ertz, and Chase Edmonds and I really need the Cardinals to have a fantastic game. The odds are stacked against me and the Cards. Damnit, I’m picking the Cards to lose, but I’ll still be rooting for them and hoping I’m wrong!

Panthers (5-10) @ Saints (7-8) (4:25pm FOX)

The Saints will start Taysom Hill and the Panthers are going with Sam Darnold at QB. I’m picking the Saints for the win.

Lions (2-12-1) @ Seahawks (5-10) (4:25pm FOX)

This could be Pete Carol and Russel Wilson’s last game together in Seattle. I’m picking the Seahawks to win and we’ll have to wait till the off season to see if Carol and or Wilson leave Seattle next season.

Vikings (7-8) @ Packers (12-3)  (8:20pm NBC)

Kirk Cousins, unvaccinated, tested positive and will not start for the Vikings. Also, the Packers just don’t lose at home, and I don’t think they are going to start against one of their division rivals. I’m picking the Packers to win this game.

Monday, January 3rd

Browns (7-8) @ Steelers (7-7-1) (8:15pm ESPN)

This should also be Big Ben’s last home game with the Steelers. Speculation is Roethlisberger will retire at the end of the season. Fingers crossed.

Peyton and Eli will be back with the Manning Cast, which I am looking forward to. I’m playing the Browns defense so I’m picking Cleveland for the win.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!
