Regular Season Week 8

Did you survive BYEmageddon? I did, even though my tight end didn’t have a touchdown on National Tight End Day! I went 9-4 on my picks and am in first place in fantasy with a record of 6-1. Best of all, my partner and I are doing well after I beat him in fantasy football. Teehee.  Sunday is Halloween so there should be some pretty interesting costumed fans in the stands for added entertainment in week eight.

But first, here’s the recap of week 7.

Broncos @ Browns 14-17

This was actually a pretty good game considering all the injuries on the Browns and Broncos. Browns backup QB Case Keenum really stepped up and settled into the starting role. D’Ernest Johnson did the same in the RB position, while Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt didn’t suit up. The Browns defense shut out the Broncos in the first half, which really helped me in fantasy, as they were only projected to have 3 points and they ended with 7. Denver’s defensive leader Von Miller left the game with a sprained ankle which was another gut punch to the Broncos already abysmal game.

Washington @ Packers 10-24

The Packers have gotten better with every game this season, while the Football Team has gotten worse. Aaron Rodgers had a spectacular game with 274 passing yards and 3 touchdowns while Tyler Heinicke only had one touchdown and one interception. I was just happy to see another team in the NFC East lose.

Chiefs @ Titans 3-27

I was right to be hesitant to pick the Chiefs to win this game. Ooofff. I think Patrick Mahomes had the worst game of his career, with no touchdowns, and an interception. It was ugly and hard to watch. I like Mahomes and couldn’t take any glee with his terrible performance even though my opponent started him. The Titans on the other hand seemed to do everything right. Even though my Derrick Henry didn’t have a spectacular game he had a passing touchdown (that’s not a typo) and that was fun to watch.

Falcons @ Dolphins 30-28

Man, I almost got this pick wrong! It came down to the very last play, which was a field goal, of course. As time expired Younghoe Koo kicked the game winning field goal to put the Falcons on top. Maybe the Dolphins should’ve taken their Bye after the London game after all.

Jets  @ Patriots 13-54

This game was really like the Patriots/Jets of a few years ago. Holy hell, the Patriots really let the Jets have it. Granted, the Jets lost their starting quarterback, Zack Wilson, after a knee injury and backup Mike White, who had never taken a snap in the NFL before, had to step in. To say the Patriots dominated is an understatement for sure. But of course wide receiver Jakobi Meyers still hasn’t scored a touchdown for the Pats. I’m going to start him until he does, and after last week, he’s SO DUE!

Panthers @ NY Giants 3-25

The Giants won?! THE NY FOOTBALL GIANTS WON!!!!! Knowing that the Giants suck,  I had planned to do a whole bunch of baking during this game, but my butt was glued to the couch in this epic win. AND they did it without Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard, Saquon Barkley, and Andrew Thomas. During the game we also lost safety Jabrill Peppers. But that didn’t stop the Giants! The defense was on point, sacking Sam Darnold 3 times, getting a safety, and intercepting him once. Darnold was even benched in the fourth quarter, kinda like his days as a Jet. I’m pretty sure he hates Metlife Stadium. Our quarterback, Danny Dimes, had a close to perfect game in that he didn’t throw any interceptions, had a passing touchdown, 28 rushing yards, annnnnnd caught an OBJ like pass for a first down. It was amazing.  Last week I wrote that my partner and opponent was going to start Evan Engram and Devontae Booker so they would probably each get two touchdowns. I was being sarcastic, but Booker did get a touchdown! My opponent had dropped Engram so I picked him up and started him, so of course he didn’t get a touchdown but he did give me 10 points. My real point-getter was kicker Graham Gano who racked up 15 fantasy points.  Really though, I’m just glad the Giants won.

Bengals @ Ravens 41-17

The Bengals upset the Ravens hahahahaha. I didn’t think it would happen, but it did! It was amazing to watch! Obviously I got this pick and the previous pick wrong but I’m not mad about it.  Joe Burrow played lights out and the Bengals defense shut down Lamar Jackson. But it was WR Ja’Marr Chase that was the MVP of the game having 12 receptions for 201 yards and a touchdown.

Eagles @ Raiders 22-33

Welp, all that fuss over trading Darren Waller and he didn’t even play in this game! Thankfully I was able to pick up Evan Engram in time. Phew! This game was great, mainly because the Eagles lost.  I probably should’ve picked up Waller’s replacement, Foster Moreau as he had 6 receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown, but Derek Carr seems to forget he has a tight end and I didn’t want to chance it. Oh well, I got the pick right and the Eagles, the Football Team, and the NY Giants are now tied for second place in the NFC East.

Lions @ Rams 19-28

The Lions jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the first quarter and it felt like we were in backwards land. Jared Goff was trying to stick it to his former team, and I felt bad for him when the Rams came back to win the game. Goff certainly got the short end of the stick in this quarterback trade while Matt Stafford was finally on the winning side of a Lions game.

Texans @ Cardinals 5-31

When I found out that Darren Waller wasn’t going to play I had to scramble to pick up a tight end.  I thought about picking up Zach Ertz who had just signed with the Cardinals nine days prior to this game. I talked myself out of it because I wasn’t sure if Kyler Murray would even target the guy in his first game with the team. Boy was I wrong. Ertz had his longest touchdown catch of his 9 year career for 47 yards. At least I still got points for it because Murray is my QB. Murray had 3 touchdowns on the day. I also got a rushing touchdown because I started James Conner!  In other news, J.J. Watt and D-Hop got to play against their former team for the first time. DeAndre Hopkins had a 1 yard touchdown and Watt had a tackle for loss against rookie David Mills.

Bears @ Buccaneers 3-38

Ok, I hope you’re sitting down for this. I would just like to say, I don’t hate Tom Brady anymore. I’m not saying I love him or anything crazy like that, but I don’t hate him. He threw his 600th (historical) touchdown pass to Mike Evans and Evans gave the ball away to a fan, whoops. Then there was a negotiation to get said ball back along with gifted season tickets, signed jerseys, $1000 in store credit, and a bitcoin. But that’s not why I don’t hate him, it’s because he reached out to a kid with brain cancer earlier this year and when the kid showed up to the game he walked over, shook his hand, and gave him the hat off his head. It was touching. They recapped the experience on Inside the NFL and I cried my eyes out.  So I don’t hate Tom Brady anymore. In other news, I do love Leonard Fournette. He was miked up for the game and everytime he was hit, he giggled. He also got me a lot of points in fantasy this week. Bears quarterback Justin Fields did NOT have a good game. If you want a visual picture of defeat, just google his name and this game, the first picture that pops up will tell it all.

Colts @ 49ers 30-18

This game was played in a monsoon.  I’m surprised people didn’t start floating away. Rain games of this magnitude are always fun to watch because the ball just slips out of people’s hands and it becomes comical. Unfortunately for the 49ers, they couldn’t utilize their passing game because of the weather and Jimmy G threw 2 interceptions. The Colts dominated the running game, mostly because Wentz really shouldn’t be a passing quarterback, or a QB at all, in my opinion. Also Jonathan Taylor is a beast.

Saints @ Seahawks 13-10

I was so glad that the Manning broadcast was back for this game! They were so entertaining, as always, but the actual game, not so much. Therefore I’ll recap their guests more so than the actual game. Marshawn Lynch was the first guest, and probably the most entertaining, though his visit was cut short because of all the four letter words that flew out of his mouth. Tom Brady was next. He talked about getting his 600th touchdown pass ball back after Mike Evans gave it away, as well as stating most defensive players are like dogs chasing after cars. And my favorite quote of his, “I enjoyed much more the [games] I played against Peyton than Eli.” To which Eli replied, “I enjoyed all of our games, Tom.” Sue Bird was the third guest, she’s a Seahawks fan so she was pretty distracted by the not so great performance of Seattle. Drew Brees was the last guest who stayed till the end of the game just to make sure the Saints actually won.

WEEK 8

Thursday, October 28th

Packers (6-1) @ Cardinals (7-0) (8:20pm FOX/NFL)

Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay will be without their 3 top receivers due to COVID-19 protocol and Arizona will be without defensive monster JJ Watt due to season ending shoulder surgery. DeAndre Hopkins will be a game time decision. Originally I thought that I’d pick the Packers to win this game, but I’ve decided to change my mind and pick the Cardinals to stay undefeated.

Sunday, October 31st

Panthers (3-4) @ Falcons (3-3) (1pm FOX)

Gosh, 4 weeks ago I wouldn’t have given a second thought to pick the Panthers over the Falcons. But right now, the Falcons are simply playing better football. I think I’m taking the Falcons to win this game. I mean, Sam Darnold was benched last week and the Panthers are without CMC still. The Falcons defense is doing much better and as much as I hate to say it, Matt Ryan has more targets available to him. As long as he limits Cordarrelle Patterson, because, fantasy.

Dolphins (1-6) @ Bills (4-2) (1pm CBS)

The Bills are fresh off their bye and are ready for this divisional matchup. The weather is supposed to be yucky so I’m picking the Bills to win this game. I mean, I’d be picking the Bills to win this game even if it was 70 and sunny.

49ers (2-4) @ Bears (3-4) (1pm FOX)

It’s hard to believe the Bears have a better record than the 49ers. I think they’ll have the same amount of wins after this game. I’m picking the 49ers for the win.

Steelers (3-3) @ Browns (4-3) (1pm CBS)

The Browns might be without Baker Mayfield and will be without Kareem Hunt for the second week in a row. But the Steelers aren’t good this season! I’m picking the Browns for the win and hopefully Nick Chubb will be back and ready to score 3 touchdowns!

Eagles (2-5) @ Lions (0-7) (1pm FOX)

I really think this is the game that the Lions get their first win. Mostly because they are playing the Eagles and I refuse to pick them to win. Also, my opponent has Goedert and that’s just another reason to root against the Eagles. I’m picking the Lions for the win!

Titans (5-2) @ Colts (3-4) (1pm CBS)

The Titans are playing really good football as of late. I’m hoping Derrick Henry has a phenomenal game. I’d also like to see the Titans defense step up really big as my opponent has Jonathan Taylor. I’m picking the Titans to win this game.

Bengals (5-2)  @ Jets (1-5) (1pm CBS)

Yeah, I don’t really think this is going to be a competitive game at all. I think the Bengals are going to annihilate the Jets. NY is without their starting quarterback, which really doesn’t say much and the Bengals are killing it on offense and defense. I’m picking Cinci for the win.

Rams (6-1) @ Texans (1-6) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Rams to win this game and I’m hoping that Cooper Kupp has at least 4 touchdowns. I’ll just need the Texans to score a lot of points because my opponent has the Rams defense.

Patriots (3-4) @ Chargers (4-2) (4:05pm CBS)

Last season when these two teams met up Justin Herbert had a terrible game. I’m hoping that is the case this time around. You guessed it, my opponent has Herbert on his fantasy team. I have Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and he hasn’t caught a touchdown pass yet, hopefully he’ll have his first and second this game. But I’m picking the Chargers for the win. I hope I’m wrong.

Jaguars (1-5) @ Seahawks (2-5) (4:05pm CBS)

The Jags are coming off their bye and the Seahawks off a heartbreaking loss. I think that the Seahawks will bounce back and win this game.

Washington (2-5) @ Broncos (3-4) (4:25pm FOX)

I need the Football Team to lose this game if the Giants have any chance to move up in the rankings. But the Broncos are pretty beaten up and my opponent has Courtland Sutton on his team. Ah crap, I’m still going to pick the Broncos to win, but I’m hoping for a tie.

Buccaneers (6-1) @ Saints (4-2) (4:25pm FOX)

I don’t think the Saints will win two in a row. I need the Bucs defense to completely shut down Alvin Kamara, thanks in advance to the Bucs.  I am picking the Bucs for the win, and I hope that Leonard Fournette has another giggly good game.

Cowboys (5-1) @ Vikings (3-3) (8:20pm NBC)

I don’t like the Cowboys but I might dislike Kirk Cousins more. Also, I’m starting Dalton Schultz in fantasy this week. The best thing that could happen is for Schultz to score a few touchdowns and Cousins to throw a few interceptions and the game to end in a tie. That probably won’t happen so I’m begrudgingly picking the Cowboys to win.

Monday, November 1st

NY Giants (2-5) @ Chiefs (3-4) (8:15pm ESPN)

Thank God for the Manning broadcast. At the beginning of the season I was NOT looking forward to this game. But, the Giants won last week and the Chiefs had their worst game of the season. That said, I will be picking the Chiefs to win this game but you know, I wouldn’t be surprised, and would be elated, if the Giants won. GO GMEN!!!!!!!

BYE WEEK: Raiders, Ravens

The Shenoa Report Week 7 '21 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report

October 21 2021

Regular Season Week 7

This week is being called BYEmageddon or BYEpocalypse  by many fantasy team owners because there are 6 teams on their BYE: Bills, Cowboys, Vikings, Steelers, Chargers,  and Jaguars. For instance, my bench players are as follows : Questionable- trending to out, Out, Out, Bye, Bye, Bye, Bye, Out. My opponent’s bench is worse: IR, Bye, IR, IR, Bye, Out, Doubtful, IR. Normally I’d feel awesome about my fantasy matchup but I’m playing my partner this week, and as competitive as I am it’s hard to root against the person I love the most in my life. Somehow I’ll manage, and in all honesty, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he actually wins this week in fantasy football. Week 7 should be a doozie!

Anyway,  I did much better on my picks this past week (9-5) and am back to winning in  fantasy (5-1).

Here’s the recap of week 6.

Buccaneers @ Eagles 28-22

Leonard Fournette had a really good game with two touchdowns and 82 rushing yards, which helped start my fantasy week 6. Richard Sherman, who had just signed with the Bucs last week because their defense had been decimated, left early in the first quarter with a hamstring injury. Tom Brady was playing with an ouchy thumb and they still managed to pull off a win. It was also nice to see the Eagles lose.

Dolphins @ Jaguars 20-23

Tua Tagovailoa was back for the Dolphins but this is the eighth time the Jags have played in a London game, most in the NFL. They were definitely the “home” team and I should’ve picked them to win. I just knew they would do it. Jacksonville had to travel across the pond to get their first home win of the season.

Packers @ Bears 24-14

The best part of this game was when Aaron Rodgers ran into the endzone for a touchdown to take the lead over the Bears, yelling at the crowd, “I still own you! I still own you!” I left out the expletives. A-aron was feeling it for sure.

Bengals @ Lions 34-11

Last week Joe Burrow was sent to the hospital after taking a hit to the throat. He had to rest his voice all week and therefore silently killed the Lions. Burrow had 3 touchdown passes on the day and Detroit didn’t even score until the 4th quarter. I’m glad I’m not a Lions fan.

Texans @ Colts 3-31

Guys, the Texans are awful. It was like the Colts were playing an unranked college team. I mean, they made Carson Wentz look good, and that's pretty hard to do.

Rams @ NY Giants 38-11

I have no words. It was hard to watch. Instead of knitting or crocheting during the game, I now just leave the room and start baking. In this horrible, pathetic loss I baked sourdough bread, “Ted Lasso biscuits”, and chocolate/peanut butter half moon cookies. Join me next week when the Giants lose to see what tasty treat I’ve made.

Chiefs @ Washington 31-13

In Patrick Mahomes’ rookie season, the Chiefs were always down, sometimes/usually by a lot, and always seemed to be the comeback kids. This season, especially this game, seems to have the same tone. After two interceptions in the first half Mahomes finally got his groove back and stomped the Football Team leading three touchdown drives to win the game.

Vikings @ Panthers 34-28 OT

Christrian McCaffery was not back for this game, and instead went on IR. This, in part, is probably why I got this pick wrong.  What was once thought of as a good defense, the Panthers couldn’t stop the Vikings from getting a touchdown to tie the game sending it into overtime, and they for sure couldn’t stop them from getting another touchdown to take the win. It was disappointing to watch, to say the least.

Chargers @ Ravens 6-34

The Ravens’ defense completely shut down Justin Herbert and the entire Chargers offense. Thankfully, Ray Lewis wasn’t on this week’s Inside the NFL to talk about how good the Ravens are this season.

Cardinals @ Browns 37-14

The Browns are just not the same without Nick Chubb in the line up. To make matters worse for Cleveland, Baker Mayfield re-injured his shoulder and Kareem Hunt had to be carted off to the locker room with a calf injury. The Browns are almost as decimated as the NY Giants. It was an easy game for the Cardinals to win, and J.J. Watt sure seems happy yet bewildered, not having experienced a winning season, well, ever.

Raiders @ Broncos 34-24

It was the Raiders, not Broncos, defense that stepped up. The Raiders D picked off Teddy Bridgewater three times while Derick Carr had no interceptions and three touchdowns. Unfortunately for me none of the touchdowns went to my tight end, Darren Waller.

Cowboys @ Patriots 35-29 OT

This game had a lot of fantasy implications for both me and my opponent. I was down going into this game but had Jacobi Myers on the Pats and the Cowboys defense so I felt pretty good. My opponent had Mac Jones, Ceedee Lamb, and Zeek Elliot. Amazingly enough Jones and Zeek didn’t pick up big points and with five minutes to go in the game I felt pretty good. But then, Lamb decided to show up big, getting a touchdown to send the game into overtime AND another touchdown in OT to win the game… I went from feeling good about my fantasy win to needing 41 points in the Bills/Titans game.

Seahawks @ Steelers 20-23 OT

The Seahawks were without Russell Wilson for the first time since he started with the team. Geno Smith has killed another quarterback’s consecutive game streak. He’s getting a reputation. First Eli Manning and now Russell. Ugh. I’m sure Geno’s a great guy, but I still cringe a little when I hear his name. Anyway, Smith was ok in Wilson’s place. He had some mistakes, one fumble that cost them the game but other than that… Being the late game I just couldn’t stay up any longer and missed overtime. I had picked the Steelers to win, but didn’t realize how close the game would actually be.

Bills @ Titans 31-34

I needed 41 points to win in fantasy and had Zack Moss, Emmanuel Sanders, and Derrick Henry. Moss didn’t really show up at all, but thankfully, Henry did! Henry had 3 touchdowns and on one of them he was clocked at running 21.8mph! He’s a beast and I love him.  The Bills could’ve and should’ve won this game but Sean McDermott decided instead of kicking a field goal to force overtime, he would go for it on 4th and one with the goal line just 2 yards away. Josh Allen slipped, got stuffed (surprise face), and the Bills lost. It must be pretty frustrating being a Bills fan. I was upset because I got the pick wrong, but that’s about it. Oh, and I ended up winning by 14 points!

WEEK 7

Thursday, October 21st

Broncos (3-3) @ Browns (3-3) (8:20pm FOX/NFL)

Normally I wouldn’t hesitate to pick the Browns to win this game but Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Kareem Hunt have already been ruled out, and most likely OBJ will not play as well. Jarvis Landry has just been activated off IR so it looks like he’ll have to suit up, and their backup quarterback, Case Keenum, will start for Cleveland. I have to play the Browns defense because my other defense has a bye this week sooo…. I hope their defense fares much better than their offense. Keenum will be without two of the starting linemen who usually protect their QB but are also out due to injury.  The Broncos don’t have much going for them either. Their quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater is dealing with foot and quadriceps issues, and half of his targets are injured or out on IR. With all that being said, I’m still picking the Browns to win this game, I just don’t think they’ll drop three in a row.

Sunday, October 24th

Washington (2-4) @ Packers (5-1) (1pm FOX)

The Football Team’s offense is also pretty injury ridden. Their defense is supposed to be good, but their record would say otherwise, and they are playing the Green Bay Packers. I would be a fool if I didn’t pick the Packers to win this game, therefore, I’m picking GB for the W.

Chiefs (3-3) @ Titans (4-2) (1pm CBS)

My opponent has KC’s RB Darrel Williams and QB Patrick Mahomes but I have WR Mecole Hardman, so I hope all passes go to Mecole, obviously. I also have Derrick Henry so I should win this particular matchup. Last year, I wouldn’t have hesitated to pick KC for the win. This year, I’m a little hesitant, but I’m still going to pick the Chiefs to win this game.

Falcons (2-3) @ Dolphins (1-5) (1pm FOX)

I thought that if you played in London you automatically got a bye the following week. Nope! The Dolphins, who basically just got back from losing in London, will be facing the very well rested Falcons who played in London the week before.  The Dolphins have yet to win at home while the Falcons have a 1-1 record on the road, not counting their “home” game in London. I’m picking the Falcons to win this game but won’t be at all surprised if I’m wrong.

Jets (1-4) @ Patriots (2-4) (1pm CBS)

I really think that the Patriots will win this game. Even though they’ve yet to win a game at home, I think this one will be the first. Despite their record they are playing good football and have had some heartbreaking, close losses. Also, they’ve already defeated the Jets this season and I think they’ll do it again. I’m picking the Patriots for the win.

Panthers (3-3) @ NY Giants (1-5) (1pm FOX)

The Giants are about to pick up Keanue Reeves, that’s a Replacements reference, because their team is so beat up. The list of players out is too long to list. But watch, against all odds, being that my opponent has Devontae Booker and Evan Engram they will each get a butt load of yards and have two touchdowns a piece, but the Giants will blow another win due to a false start. At least it won’t be the percussionist’s (Andrew Thomas) fault because he’s on IR.  I’m picking the Panthers to win this game. Go Gmen! Ugh.

Bengals (4-2) @ Ravens (5-1) (1pm CBS)

I’d love to see the Bengals upset the Ravens but I just don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m picking the Ravens to win but will be rooting for the Bengals.

Eagles (2-4)  @ Raiders (4-2) (1pm FOX)

This game has fantasy implications on both my team and his team. I need Darren Waller to have a game more like his first game of the season. My partner has Henry Ruggs so I’m sure he’ll have a good game.  I’m still mad about the NFL draft and the Eagles stealing Devonta Smith, which is amplified this week with him being on my opponent’s team. Also I hate the Eagles. Have I mentioned that? I’m picking the Raiders to win this game. Oh! And another thing, in our fantasy league I’ve got one guy that has offered twice now some laughable trades for Darren Waller, I’ve declined each time. I’m not dumb.

Lions (0-6) @ Rams (5-1) (4:05pm FOX)

This should be a fun game to watch because before the season the quarterbacks basically traded teams. The Lions now have Jared Goff and the Rams have Matthew Stafford. I’m sure Stafford doesn’t miss the Lions and Goff wishes he was back with the Rams. I’m picking the Rams to win regardless of Cooper Kupp having a good game, but I really need all the touchdown passes to go to Kupp. My opponent has the Rams kicker and that doesn’t make me too worried.

Texans (1-5) @ Cardinals (6-0) (4:25pm CBS)

I have no doubt in my mind that the Cardinals will win this game, I just hope they aren’t winning by so much that they pull my quarterback, Kylar Murry, out before the end of the game. I also need James Conner to have a good game for the Cards because he gets to start this week because of my bleak bench. I’m picking Arizona for the win.

Bears (3-3) @ Buccaneers (5-1) (4:25pm CBS)

I’m picking the Bucs to win this game and I hope that Leonard Fournette has another great game!  I do need the Bears to score some points because my opponent has the Bucs defense, but we both know that’s not likely.

Colts (2-4) @ 49ers (2-3) (8:20pm NBC)

The Colts were thought to have a good defense. That’s kind of laughable now. Jimmy G is supposed to be back for the 49ers which is bad news for me as my opponent has Deebo Samuel and Jimmy loves to throw to Deebo. I’m picking the 49ers to win this game.

Monday, October 25th

Saints (3-2) @ Seahawks (2-4) (8:15pm ESPN)

The Saints are coming off their bye week and the Seahawks are without Russell Wilson. I think I have to take the Saints to win this game. Best of all, the Mannings are back so tune into ESPN2 to watch this game to be entertained!

BYE WEEK: Bills, Cowboys, Vikings, Steelers, Chargers, Jaguars

The Shenoa Report Week 6 '21 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report

October 14 2021

Regular Season Week 6

What’s done in darkness will come to  light. The big news this past week was the resignation of coach Jon Gruden after some, nay, a lot of distasteful emails he sent came to light. He made racist, bigoted, anti-gay, and misogonistic comments about a number of people in the NFL and in general. I will not repeat what he said, as I gasped a lot when reading them and wondered why there was so much ugliness in his heart, and why he felt he should convey it in an email. It’s a sad situation. So much ugliness and hate in this world rather than acceptance of those different from oneself. I’ve talked about this before, how athletes, celebrities, coaches are supposed to be “heroes,” mentors, icons, rollmodels, people whom children look up to and emulate. We all can learn from this, be nicer, be better, stop saying hurtful things. The kicker of this story is that these emails were leaked from the investigation into the Washington Football Team. Obviously, this is just the tip of the iceberg and there is much more to come.

In other news, week six is when the bye week starts for some teams. Bye weeks make fantasy football more fun, or frustrating.

Anyway,  I did much better on my picks this past week (11-5) and am back to winning in  fantasy (4-1).

Here’s the recap of week 5.

Rams @ Seahawks 26-17

I really thought that the 12th man would’ve helped the Seahawks win this game because their lime green uniforms sure didn’t. I was wrong. Both quarterbacks suffered hand injuries, but Russell Wilson’s took him out of the game. This game was so frustrating to watch being that Cooper Kupp was supposed to have a monster game and instead all the passes seemed to go to the squeaky wheel, Robert Woods. So, I got this pick wrong and my WR1 Kupp had a terrible game. Double whammy.

Jets @ Falcons 20-27

I’m glad I didn’t get up early to watch this game. It was terrible. I thought the Jets would win with all the momentum they had coming off last week’s overtime victory. I was wrong, again. Thankfully it didn’t have any fantasy implications for me.

Packers @ Bengals 25-22 OT

It seemed like no one really wanted to win this game, even in overtime. Packers kicker, Mason Crosby missed 3 potential game winning field goals, two in regulation and one in overtime while Bengals kicker, Evan McPherson also missed 2 potential game winning field goals, one in regulation and one in overtime. McPherson even celebrated what he thought was a game winning field goal in OT, but it went wide left. It was tragic to watch. Crosby got redemption when his kick finally split the uprights to end an excruciating overtime to give the Packers the win.

Lions @ Vikings 17-19

The Lions thought that they had finally won their first game of the season until the Vikings kicker Greg Joseph kicked the game winning  field goal as time expired to give them the win. Heartbreaking for the Lions.

Broncos @ Steelers 19-27

The Steelers finally looked ok, or did the Broncos just have an off day? I think it was the latter.

Dolphins @ Buccaneers 17-45

This game was so one sided  CBS switched coverage and didn’t show the end of the game. Tom Brady injured his throwing hand but was still able to throw 5 touchdown passes, 2 to Antonio Brown, 2 to Mike Evans, and 1 to Giovani Bernard. Most importantly, Leonard Fornette had a rushing touchdown- woot! PS, the Dolphins are terrible. Some things never change.

Saints @ Washington 33-22

Ok, so, the Saints beat the Packers then the Giants beat the Saints, but the Football Team beat the Giants but lost to the Saints. Hmmmmmm. I just don’t know what to make of it all.  It was nice to see the Football Team lose this game and it was good to see Alvin Kamara look like Alvin Kamara once again. More importantly, I got this pick correct.

Eagles  @ Panthers 21-18

I didn’t get this pick right. Stupid Eagles. Also, what happened to the Panthers strong start to the season?

Titans @ Jaguars 37-19

Woot Titans! Woot Woot Derrick Henry!!! I would’ve been really, really mad and upset if I’d gotten this pick wrong.

Patriots @ Texans 25-22

Just like last week the Patriots had a chance to win the game with a last second field goal, and this time they did. Nick Folk won the game with a 21 yard field goal.

Bears @ Raiders 20-9

The Raiders are killing me. The lack of Darren Waller is really killing me. It’s never good when you make the Bears look decent...

Browns @ Chargers 42-47

The Browns did everything right, not turning the ball over once, and still lost. I didn’t think it would be this high scoring but I’m glad it was, because it gave Nick Chubb a much better chance at racking up points. What a fun game to watch!

NY Giants @ Cowboys 20-44

This game was awful. I’m surprised we didn’t start pulling Giants fans from the stands to join the team. We lost Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Daniel Jones, and Rodarius Williams to injuries and Kadarius Toney was tossed in the 4th quarter for throwing a punch. It was just awful to watch. Awful. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

49ers @ Cardinals 10-17

This was supposed to be a high scoring game. Clearly not high enough.  Thanks a lot Cards. At least I got the pick correct.

Bills @ Chiefs 38-20

Thankfully I got the pick correct and thankfully Stephon Diggs didn’t have a good game. I didn’t have any more players to play in fantasy and I was ahead going into this game but my opponent had Diggs and Harrison Butker left to play. There was also a rain delay during the game so I had to go to bed before the game was over. I’m not going to lie, I had dreams, nay nightmares, that I’d lost in fantasy by 0.32 points. I was happy to wake up the next morning to see that my loss was just a nightmare. Good job Bills!

Colts @ Ravens 25-31 OT

This was another game that I didn’t stay up till the end. The Colts looked so good in the first half, I thought that I was going to get this pick wrong. Lamar Jackson looked terrible the first three quarters and then ended up scoring 40 some points in fantasy, most of them coming in the fourth and overtime. It was an unbelievable win for the Ravens, but then again they were playing the Carson Wentz led Colts so it was kinda believable.

WEEK 6

Thursday, October 14th

Buccaneers (4-1) @ Eagles (2-3) (8:20pm FOX/NFL)

I’m picking the Bucs to win this game and looking forward to watching the Eagles lose. Go Lenny go!

Sunday, October 17th

Dolphins (1-4) @ Jaguars (0-5) (9:30am CBS)

Pretty much, if you are a bad team, you’re going to London. I’m sure the Giants will be heading over anytime now. Note the time. It will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the second week in a row. Make sure you have your coffee ready for this game. The Jags always seem to do well across the pond, but I think that I’ll pick the Dolphins to win this game, though I won’t be surprised if I’m wrong.

Packers (4-1) @ Bears (3-2) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Packers to win this game, hopefully this week it won’t come down to a field goal. I don’t think it will.

Bengals (3-2) @ Lions (0-5)  (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Bengals to win this game, only because the Lions are really good at figuring out a way to lose.

Texans (1-4) @ Colts (1-4)  (1pm CBS)

I think the Colts will win this game, but like the London game, I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

Rams (4-1) @ NY Giants (1-4) (1pm FOX)

I’m picking the Rams to win this game. Go Gmen! Ugh.

Chiefs (2-3) @ Washington (2-3) (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game, they seem to do better on the road.

Vikings (2-3)  @ Panthers (3-2) (1pm FOX)

CMC just might be back in the lineup so I’m picking the Panthers to win this game.

Chargers (4-1) @ Ravens (4-1) (1pm CBS)

I’m picking the Ravens to win, only because they are the home team.

Cardinals (5-0) @ Browns (3-2) (4:05pm FOX)

This is a tough game to pick, being that I have players on both sides. I want it to be high scoring, with a lot of passing and rushing touchdowns for Kylar Murray, as well as a lot of rushing yards and touchdowns for Nick Chubb. I’m sitting the Browns defense so I don’t have to worry about that. The Cardinals haven’t lost a game yet and the Browns are perfect at home. I think this is the game where the Cards get their first L. I’m picking the Browns for the win.

Raiders (3-2) @ Broncos (3-2) (4:25pm CBS)

Even though the Raiders started the season strong they’ve lost their last two games. They also lost their head coach, as we all know. This game could get ugly. Will it be a redemption game for the Raiders or will they collapse under extreme pressure? I just hope Darren Waller has a good game, though I’m picking the Broncos to win.

Cowboys (4-1) @ Patriots (2-3) (4:25pm CBS)

I picked up the Cowboys defense for this game, so, as much as it pains me, I’m picking the Cowboys for the win. Really, I just want to win in fantasy.

Seahawks (2-3) @ Steelers (2-3) (8:20pm NBC)

I don’t have high hopes for the Seahawks with Russell Wilson out for a few weeks. Geno Smith just isn’t a stellar back up. Unfortunately I’m picking the Steelers to win this game. I just hope I’m wrong.

Monday, October 18th

Bills (4-1) @ Titans (3-2) (8:15pm ESPN)

Whenever the Bills play the Titans the Music City Miracle is mentioned. The MCM happened in Tennessee on 1/8/00 during a Wild Card playoff game between these two teams. The Bills were up 16-15 with 15 seconds to go in the game. On the kickoff return the Titans tight end Frank Wycheck threw a lateral pass across the field to Kevin Dyson, who then ran 75 yards to score the winning touchdown. Sorry for bringing it up Bills fans. Anyway, I don’t think there will be a music city miracle this time around. I’m picking the Bills for the win, but I can’t have them shutting down Derrick Henry.

BYE WEEK: Falcons, Saints, Jets, 49ers

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!

The Shenoa Report Week 5 '21 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report

October 7, 2021

Regular Season Week 5

We can all agree that COVID-19 sucks, but you know what else sucks? Cancer sucks. We have all been personally affected by that horrible word. In the month of October, while watching the NFL you’ll see some rainbow colors on uniforms, as well as some confetti/ rain patterns on hoodies. This is to show support, raise awareness, and bring attention to cancer, research, those lost, and the survivors. Since 2009, the first year of the NFL's Crucial Catch campaign, the NFL’s work has raised more than $23 million for the American Cancer Society and has supported over 600,000 cancer screenings. When you buy anything with the Crucial Catch logo on it from the NFL shop all proceeds go towards cancer research. The NFL does not retain any profits generated by royalties received due to the sale of Crucial Catch products. All dollars are donated to the American Cancer Society. Cancer sucks. Please, get yourself checked, early detection saves lives.

I didn’t do so well on my picks this week (8-8) and I got my first loss in fantasy, BUT the Giants actually won, so it doesn’t hurt so much.

Here’s the recap of week 4.

Jaguars @ Bengals 21-24

I picked up the Bengals defense for this game. Yeah, that was not a good decision, and ultimately cost me the win in fantasy. It didn’t help that my opponent had Laviska Shenault, who had a monster game after DJ Chark went out of the game early with a broken leg. The Jags led 14-0 going into the half but the Bengals clawed back and were able to win the game with a last second field goal. Damn. Fun fact: Trevor Lawrence has lost just 2 games in his football career after leading by double digits. Both were to Joe Burrow!

Washington @ Falcons 34-30

My opponent, a major Washington fan, has most of the Football Team in his line up, another factor in my fantasy loss. Seriously, he has both of Washington’s QBs, the defense, the tight end, WR Terry McLaurin who had 30 fantasy points, and two running backs. That hurt. Obviously, he didn’t start all of them, but McLaurin hurt me the most.

Texans @ Bills 0-40

Yo! The Bills have now shut out 2 teams since the beginning of the season. They’ve won 50% of their games without the other team scoring. That’s crazy. Their defense forced 5 turnovers and limited Houston to just 109 total yards. Is it too soon to say that the Bills are the real deal?

Lions @ Bears 14-24

The Bears bounced back after an embarrassing loss last week and in return embarrassed the Lions instead. Justin Fields had a much better game with only one interception. And of course my opponent had David Montgomery, who was projected to get 8 points and in actuality got 22. Awesome. I hate losing.

Colts @ Dolphins 27-17

In recapping the week 4 games up to this point I’ve only gotten one pick right so far, and that was the Bills. I got this pick wrong too. The Colts got their first win of the season.

Panthers @ Cowboys 28-36

Zeek Elliot and the Cowboys ran all over the Panthers. It was kind of embarrassing if you ask me. Booooo.

Browns @ Vikings 14-7

How is it that Nick Chubb, who supposedly is RB1 was only targeted once! Yes, he had 100 yards rushing, but zero touchdowns. He did all the work and Kareem Hunt got the hand off for the one touchdown. It’s just not fair. Also, OBJ, shake my head, 2 receptions for 27 yards?! Not acceptable! I can’t bench Chubb but I will be benching or dropping OBJ. Thanks for helping contribute to my loss this week guys.

NY Giants @ Saints 27-21 OT

GMEN!!!!!!!!!! Even after the winning touchdown in overtime I was waiting for a flag to come out and take the win away. The Giants, who were down 11 points going into the 4th quarter rallied, and my fantasy kicker Graham Gano kicked the field goal that sent the game into overtime. Danny Jones had 402 yards, a new record for him, and his first interception of the season, that really doesn’t count because it was a hail mary to end the half. I don’t hold it against him.

I was mad at Kenny Golladay for his underperformance in previous weeks so I benched him and of course his fantasy score was triple what OBJ gave me. Had I started Golladay over OBJ I’d be 4-0 in fantasy. Whoops. The Giants won the toss in overtime, and Jabrill Peppers was ecstatic. We marched down the field and Saquon Barkley scored the winning touchdown.  I couldn’t even celebrate, because I was waiting for the flag. But there wasn’t any flag and the Giants finally got their first win of the season! They won’t go 0-17!!!!!!!! I’ve made sure to wear my Giants garb all week in celebration.

Titans @ NY Jets 24-27 OT

Titans fans everywhere are super embarrassed after losing in overtime to the Jets. Jets fans, like Giants fans, are still in disbelief that their team actually won a game. Fun fact: this was the first time in history that the Jets and Giants both won games in overtime on the same day. (I got both this game and the Giants game pick wrong too.)

Chiefs @ Eagles 42-30

Two words. Tyreek Hill. 11 receptions, 186 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes had 5 touchdowns, and played lights out.  It looks like the Chiefs are back to being the Chiefs. Sorry not sorry Eagle fans.

Cardinals @ Rams 37-20

The Cardinals are now the only team in the NFL that is undefeated. Kylar Murray had a stellar game, again. Unfortunately for my fantasy team and the Rams, Cooper Kupp did not have a stellar game. He only had 5 receptions and 64 yards. Not good enough.

Seahawks @ 49ers 28-21

The 49ers are still winless at home. Jimmy G went out of the game with a calf injury and kicker Robbie Gould was injured before the game. The 49ers are on the struggle bus for sure. The Seahawks, on the other hand, seem to be getting out the kinks and playing like the winning Seahawks again.

Ravens @ Broncos 23-7

Yeah, I got this pick wrong too. So much for Lamar Jackson being “questionable” and the Broncos defense being awesome… Jackson was unstoppable with 316 yards and one passing touchdown, and insult to injury, my opponent’s starting quarterback.

Steelers @ Packers 17-27

Big Ben is old and should just retire. Maybe I’d be ok with the Steelers if that happened. Aaron Rodgers on the other hand, showed once again why he was the MVP last season. Rodgers had help from Randall Cobb who had two receiving touchdowns and one rushing. Cobb was reunited with the Packers after a year with the Cowboys and a year with the Texans. Per Rodgers’ request Cobb is back in Green Bay, and all Packers fans are happy for the reunion.

Buccaneers @ Patriots 19-17

I should just copy and paste the recaps from missed field goals to lose the game from last week's heartbreaking losses. Sorry Pats fans you almost stuck it to Brady. The Patriots lost in the final seconds of the game after a missed field goal. It would’ve been the shocker of all shockers, Brady losing in Foxborough. Fun Fact: tickets for this game were just as expensive as tickets for the Super Bowl. In week 4 of the season…

Raiders @ Chargers 14-28

It’s Derick Carr’s and Josh Jacobs’ fault the Raiders lost this game. Actually it's Gruden’s fault for the loss. When your running back isn’t getting it done on the ground, and your quarterback doesn’t even target your best player (Darren Waller), how the heck do you expect to win the game? It was so frustrating to watch. I went to bed, knowing the Raiders would lose, I would get this pick wrong, and Waller wouldn’t get me the points I needed to win in fantasy. Also, the Mannings, my saving grace for MNF, had the night off so MNF completely sucked.

WEEK 5

Thursday, October 7th

Rams (3-1) @ Seahawks (2-2) (8:20pm NFL)

The Seahawks have not won at home yet this season and the Rams have not lost an away game. This should be a good, close game. I’m going to pick the Seahawks to win this game, just because it’s rare that they lose at home, and that’s already happened once this year.

Sunday, October 10th

Jets (1-3) @ Falcons (1-3) (9:30am NFL)

This is our first London game of the season. Note the time. It will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Make sure you have your coffee ready for this game. I’m picking the Jets to win this game across the pond.

Packers (3-1) @ Bengals (3-1) (1pm FOX)

The Bengals haven’t lost a game at home yet this season, I think they’ll get their first home loss against the Packers. I just hope Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have an off game, as my opponent has both players in their starting lineup. Sorry Packers fans, can’t root for you this week. Fun fact: Joe Burrow has more touchdowns than Aaron Rodgers so far this season. Will that change? I hope not this week, but I’m picking the Packers for the win.

Lions (0-4)  @ Vikings (1-3) (1pm FOX)

I’d love to see the Lions beat the Vikings at home, but I just don’t see that happening. I’ll be rooting for the Lions but picking the Vikings for the win, and hoping Justin Jefferson has an off game, because, fantasy.

Broncos (3-1) @ Steelers (1-3)  (1pm FOX)

Normally I love Noah Fant, but not this week; opponent, fantasy. I am picking the Broncos to bounce back from that horrible loss and stick it to the Steelers who have lost both games at home so far this season. Make it 3 Denver, also shut down Diontae Johnson, please and thank you. One more thing, Denver, score a LOT of points, my opponent also has the Pittsburgh defense. I’m picking the Broncos for the win.

Dolphins (1-3) @ Buccaneers (3-1) (1pm CBS)

Yeah, I’m picking the Bucs to win this game. PS Fournette please have an amazing game. Thanks.

Saints (2-2) @ Washington (2-2) (1pm CBS)

I think the Saints are going to do better than last week, sorry not sorry, and I think Kamara is going to have a good game. I’m picking the Saints to win this game.

Eagles (1-3)  @ Panthers (3-1) (1pm FOX)

Obviously I’m picking the Panthers to win this game. Go Panthers! PS I still hate the Eagles, just so you don’t forget. Also, I need both the Football Team and the Eagles to lose their games because I don’t have high hopes for the Giants this week.

Titans (2-2) @ Jaguars (0-4) (1pm CBS)

Again, I’m hoping that Derrick Henry has his best game ever. I picked up the Tennessee defense so I’m really hoping I’ll have a better chance than I did last week when I picked up the Bengals defense. We’ll see. I’m picking the Titans to win this game.

Patriots (1-3) @ Texans (1-3) (1pm CBS)

Both teams have rookie quarterbacks, but I think the Patriots QB, Mac Jones, is way better. Can you even name the Texans QB? I didn’t think so. His name is Davis Mills, I think… I’m picking the Patriots to win this game.

Bears (2-2) @ Raiders (3-1) (4:05pm CBS)

Justin Fields has been named the starter moving forward. I don’t think that’s going to help much. The Bears got a win last week while the Raiders had their first loss. I don’t think either team will repeat. I need Carr to throw more balls to Darren Waller, and I’m picking the Raiders to win this game.

Browns (3-1) @ Chargers (3-1) (4:05pm CBS)

Baker Mayfield has been playing with an injured left shoulder since September 19th. He’s not going to have surgery because it’s his non throwing shoulder. This may explain why he hasn’t been lights out this season. The Chargers are playing well as of late, and being that this game is at home I’m picking the Chargers to win this game. Sorry Brownies. I still need Chubb to actually have a stellar game, unlike last week.

NY Giants (1-3) @ Cowboys (3-1) (4:25pm CBS)

Ugh. I’m going to be rooting for the Giants and hoping they actually pull off this upset. But because I did horrible on my picks last week, I’m picking the Cowboys to win this game. GO GMEN!!!! Prove me wrong!

49ers (2-2)  @ Cardinals (4-0) (4:25pm FOX)

I’m picking the Cardinals to go 5-0! I need Kyler to have a better game than last week without targeting or handing off the ball to Chase Edmonds, as he’s on my opponent’s team. Lots of long passes to Hopkins would be amazing. Thanks in advance.

Bills (3-1) @ Chiefs (2-2) (8:20pm NBC)

The Bills are playing better football consistently this season, the Chiefs not so much. The Bills have not lost an away game yet and the Chiefs have already lost at home. I think the Chiefs could win this game, but I’ll be picking the Bills for the W. Stefon Diggs can’t have a good game, because, fantasy.

Monday, October 11th

Colts (1-3) @ Ravens (3-1) (8:15pm ESPN)

The Manning’s aren’t calling this game so It’ll be hard to watch. Also I don’t have any fantasy implications so I could actually go to bed early. I’m picking the Ravens to win this game.

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!
