Regular Season Week 9

This week there have been positive tests in the Packers, 49ers, Bears, Texans, and Lions organizations as of today. No games have been cancelled or postponed yet.
Election day was Tuesday and we still don’t know who will be the next president of the United States. I’ve been refreshing my news app this week just as much, if not more, than I do my fantasy football app on Sunday and Monday night.
I went 8-6 in my picks and finally won again in fantasy. Here’s the recap of week 8.

Falcons @ Panthers 25-17
The Falcons finally finished a game, and won, surprising pretty much everyone. The game wasn’t pretty and at any point the Panthers could’ve come out on top. It was honestly a disappointment to see the Falcons win, as I had gotten so used to seeing them blow it.

Raiders @ Browns 16-6
I got this pick wrong too. The Raiders held the Browns to 2 field goals, shutting them out the first and fourth quarters. The Browns just couldn’t get things together. The weather didn’t help, as there were turnovers, missed field goals and a lot of different precipitation including hail. I think the Browns are just too beat up right now.

Patriots @ Bills 21-24
For almost the entire game it looked like the Patriots would beat the Bills again at home. And then, late in the fourth, the Patriots were driving.  Cam Newton stepped up, started to rush towards the end zone, and fumbled the ball. The Bills, with a sigh of relief, were able to kneel it out, winning the game. The Patriots have now lost 4 in a row!

Titans @ Bengals 20-31
Yup, I got this pick incorrect as well, but I think everyone did. I mean, this win was the most shocking of week 8. Joe Burrow had everything going his way with 249 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, with no interceptions. The Bengals defense also stepped up and held Derrick Henry to one touchdown and intercepted a Ryan Tannehill pass.

Vikings @ Packers 28-22
Okay, actually this might have been the most surprising win in week 8. I got this pick wrong too! Uugh! The third quarter is what took the Packers out of this game. They didn’t put up a single point while the Vikings scored 2 touchdowns. Green Bay tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter but came up short. It was shocking indeed.

Colts @ Lions 41-21
I knew that the Lions couldn’t win three in a row. The Colts came to Detroit with a vengeance. Philip Rivers made it through a game with no interceptions! In the second quarter alone, the Colts had 3 touchdowns. Nyheim Hines had two of them. He showed off his acrobatics in both of his celebrations. They were impressive and I wonder if he could be in the olympics as a gymnast? The Colts seem to be on a great path to the post season.

Jets @ Chiefs 9-35
Patrick Mahomes had so much fun in this win over the Jets. He had 5 touchdowns and 416 passing yards on the day! At one point, after Tyreek Hill’s second touchdown, Patrick decided to give Tyreek a piggyback ride in celebration. It was a good day to be a Chiefs fan, or to have Mahomes on your fantasy team, which I did! Thanks for helping me beat the commissioner of my league Patrick!

Rams @ Dolphins 17-28
Tua Tagovailoa got his first win in the NFL as a starting quarterback. It didn’t start too well for him though, as he got sacked on the second play of the Dolphins first possession,  fumbling and turning over the ball, which led to a Rams touchdown. Turnovers were kind of the theme of this game. Both teams had turnovers that lead to touchdowns. The Dolphins had a big second quarter with three touchdowns, none of them Tua passes. Tua did make up for his fumble in the first quarter by throwing a touchdown pass to DeVante Parker at the end of first quarter. Clearly, the Rams were not prepared for the Dolphins, either that, or they didn’t take them seriously.

Steelers @ Ravens 28-24
Stupid Steelers. This game was back and forth and close till the end. The Steelers were just a little bit better on defense, intercepting Lamar Jackson twice, and ultimately the demise of the Ravens.

Chargers @ Broncos 30-31
The Broncos finally won a game at home!  The Chargers blew a 21 point lead in the third quarter and the Broncos clawed back in the fourth quarter to take the game. Both quarterbacks had interceptions, but it was Drew Lock that came out on top with his third touchdown pass to KJ Hamler at the end of the game to seal the win.

Saints @ Bears 26-23 OT
It took an overtime, but like I predicted, the Bears aren’t as good as their record, and the Saints won the game. The Bears defense is the reason they are doing so well this season, while quarterback Nick Foles seems to be the team's achilles heel. Mitch Trubisky was back under center for one play, he got hurt and was taken out again. Do you think they will call Jake Cutler out of retirement?  Time will tell. The best part of the game was the fight that ensued between Bears WR Javon Wims and Saints CB C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Apparently C.J. spit on Javon and ripped out his mouthpiece. This led to Javon sucker punching C.J.. Wims was disqualified from the rest of the game and has been suspended.

49ers @ Seahawks 27-37
The 49ers are injury ridden and lost two more players in this loss. Jimmy G and George Kittle sustained injuries that will keep them out for the foreseeable future. The Seahawks, on the other hand, looked strong as they beat their opponent soundly. Russell Wilson had four passing touchdowns, 2 to DK Metcalf, 1 to DeeJay Dallas, and 1 to David Moore.

Cowboys @ Eagles 9-23
The Cowboys led for a short time in this game, but couldn’t hold on because, well, they are terrible. The Eagles are also not good but someone has to win the NFC East. This game was a trainwreck to watch and ended with a fumble out of bounds in the end zone to give the Eagles 2 more points with a safety. The perfect end to a not so perfect game.

Buccaneers @ NY Giants 25-23
Sigh. I really don’t know what to say at this point. Out of the seven games the Giants have lost, five of them are one score games, three of them by 3 points or less. This game should’ve been different. They lost, yes, but it should’ve been a blowout, not come down to the last play of the game with a failed two point conversion. A blowout loss would’ve hurt much less. Almost every week I’ve typed the phrase, “false hope.” So much false hope. Thanks again Gmen for the false hope.

Here's a little recap of some of the things I've said about my beloved team...

Week 7, 21-22, “the open field tripped him (Danny Jones) up and he fell flat on his face before he hit the endzone. That pretty much sums up the Giants season. So much false hope. Ugh. This game. Stupid Giants.”
Week 6, 19-20, “The Giants ALMOST blew it, but instead it was Washington who couldn’t get it done in the end and they lost the game.”
Week 5, 34-37, “False hope. Every frickin time.”
Week 4, 9-17, “I can’t believe we have 12 more weeks of this nonsense.”
Week 3 was a blow out.
Week 2, 13-17, “Not gonna lie, I cried a bit during this game. The final score does not reflect how the game actually went.”
Week 1, 26-16, “Well, the Giants looked good in the first quarter and the Steelers looked terrible, and then everything switched.”

WEEK 8

Thursday, November 5th

Packers (5-2) @ 49ers (4-4) (8:20pm FOX/NFLN)
Both teams have positive cases, the 49ers have more. The game should be played tonight, and I am going to pick the Packers to bounce back and beat the beat up 49ers.

Sunday, November 8th

Seahawks (6-1) @ Bills (6-2)  (1pm FOX)
This should be a good game, and a close game. Sorry Bills fans, I’m picking the Seahawks to win this game.

Broncos (3-4) @ Falcons (2-6) (1pm CBS)
I don’t think that the Falcons can win two games in a row and they haven’t won at home yet this season. I also don’t think that the Broncos can win two games in a row, though they do have two road wins. Will this game end in a tie? Probably. Regardless, I hope it’s a high scoring game. I think I’ll pick the Falcons to win this game. Why not?

Ravens (5-2) @ Colts (5-2) (1pm CBS)
The Ravens should win this game, but the Colts are looking really good right now. I’m going to pick the Ravens to win but it wouldn’t surprise me if I was wrong.

Bears (5-3) @ Titans (5-2) (1pm FOX)
I’m picking the Titans to bounce back and get the win after their humiliating loss last week.
Lions (3-4) @ Vikings (2-5) (1pm CBS)
The Vikings have not won a home game yet this season. They are coming off a great divisional win and have a chance to get another this week. Lion’s quarterback Matt Stafford has been put on the Covid-19 reserve list so there is no guarantee that he’ll even play. Therefore, I’m going to pick the Vikings to win this game.

Texans (1-6) @ Jaguars (1-6) (1pm CBS)
One of these teams will get their second win of the season. I’m picking the Texans to do just that.

Panthers (5-2) @ Chiefs (7-1) (1pm FOX)
It looks like Christian McCaffrey will be back for the Panthers in this game. With that said, I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game.

NY Giants (1-7) @ Washington (2-5) (1pm FOX)
This will be the second matchup between these two teams. The Giants won the first match, mostly because the Football Team blew it. Could the Giants be so lucky again? We’ll if they are going to win another game this season, this would be the game. Therefore, I’m going to pick the Giants to win this game. Let’s see how far that false hope will get me.

Raiders (4-3) @ Chargers (2-5) (4:05pm FOX)
I’m picking the Raiders to win this game. But I do hope that Keenan Allen has a fantastic game for the Chargers.

Steelers (7-0) @ Cowboys (2-6) (4:25pm CBS)
I think that the Steelers could put in their practice squad and still beat the Cowboys. I’m picking the Steelers to win this game.

Dolphins (4-3) @ Cardinals (5-1) (4:25pm CBS)
I’m picking the Cardinals to win this game. I don’t think that the Dolphins can win two in a row.

Saints (5-2) @ Buccaneers (6-2) (8:20pm NBC)
I’d like to see the Saints win this game, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m picking the Bucs to win this game.

Monday, November 9th

Patriots (2-5) @ Jets (0-8) (8:15pm ESPN)
I’m picking the Patriots to stop their losing streak with this game. The Jets will put up a good fight, but the Patriots will win this game.

BYE
Bengals, Browns, Rams, Eagles
GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
