Regular Season Week 3
Week two sucked for a lot of reasons. First off, my boss beat me in fantasy by almost double my points, secondly my fantasy quarterback left the game early in the first quarter not to return only after getting me negative points, and then to top it all off the Manning era is over in NY. I’m not going to lie, I cried… a lot.
I went 11-5 on my picks, still beating all of the NFL Insiders, and I am 1-1 in my fantasy league.
Here is the recap for week two.
Buccaneers @ Panthers 20-14
I know this was only the second game of the season but I don’t think it’s too soon to hit the panic button on the Panthers. The Bucs had a late goal line stand to put the Panthers away for the night. It helped that Cam just isn’t the same Cam on the field. And, surprise face, he re injured his foot this week in practice and wasn’t even at practice on Tuesday.
49ers @ Bengals 41-17
I mean I picked the 49ers to win but I didn’t think it would be by a landslide. Jimmy G had three touchdown passes as the 9ers throttled the kittens.
Chargers @ Lions 10-13
The Lions surprised me by winning this game. I really didn’t think they would. It just goes to show that Lions have good days too. It was a defensive play, an interception in the endzone, that gave the Lions the win.
Vikings @ Packers 16-21
You know the saying hindsight is 20/20. Yeah, I should have started Aaron Rodgers. He had two early touchdowns to put the Packers over the Vikings. That’s two more than my starting quarterback in fantasy… I’ll get to that in a little bit.
Colts @ Titans 19-17
Like the Lions, the Colts also surprised me. After the Titans week one win I really thought that the Colts didn’t have a chance. I was wrong, but it was a sort of happy wrong as my tight end, Ebron, actually got a touchdown.
Patriots @ Dolphins 43-0
Whenever I feel sorry for my team, the Giants, I remember the Dolphins, and then I don’t feel so bad. Miami fans are in for a loooooooong season. On the other hand, AB looks very at home with the Patriots.
Bills @ NY Giants 28-14
Saquan got the Giants on the board first and then they were done. The rest of the game was all Bills. It was hard to watch, as I tried to while working at the winery, with a bunch of Bills fans. I have to say that I do respect Bills fans, even though the Bills were crushing the G-Men, the Bills fans were saying things like “I like Eli. He’s a real stand-up guy. I mean he beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, twice. F Tom Brady. I hate the Patriots. I’d root for the Giants if they weren’t playing against the Bills.” Bills fans are cool in my book.
Seahawks @ Steelers 28-26
Big Ben left the game early after aggravating his elbow. He did not return to the game and will not return to the field for the rest of the season. Russel Wilson threw for three touchdowns to put the Seahawks over the Steelers.
Cowboys @ Redskins 31-21
Dak Prescott can run and throw the ball… He’s a pretty good quarterback, and that’s coming from a Giants fan… Pay the man. He’s shown he’s worth a pay raise.
Cardinals @ Ravens 17-23
The Ravens did indeed win the game, and now those who watch Inside the NFL will have to hear Ray Lewis talk about it to no end. Thanks a lot Ravens.
Jaguars @ Texans 12-13
It was the Texans defense that stopped Leonard Fournette on a two point conversion with less than a minute left to end the game and get the Houston win.
Chiefs @ Raiders 28-10
This was the last time the Raiders would ever play a home game with a baseball diamond in the middle of the field. Unfortunately, the Raiders couldn’t come up with the win, but did anyone think that was a possibility playing against Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs?
Bears @ Broncos 16-14
All the real excitement came in the final minutes of the game. It was the Bears kicker that saved the day and won the game in the final seconds of the game. There was no double doink this time.
Saints @ Rams 9-27
It was early in the first quarter and Drew Brees already had an interception and then left the game after hurting his thumb. I started Drew Brees in my fantasy league. It all went to hell after that. Kamara became an afterthought and my fantasy matchup suddenly turned into a “bye week” essentially.
Eagles @ Falcons 20-24
Guess what, I also started DeSean Jackson, who left the game early with an injury. Can we say insult to injury? It seemed like Eagle after Eagle left the game with injuries. I was happy to see the Falcons win this game though; the Giants need all the help they can get.
Browns @ Jets 23-3
Jets starting quarterback, Sam Darnald is out with mono so Trevor Siemian got the start for this game. That was short lived as he left the game early after hurting his ankle. The Browns defense seemed pretty legit. I had started the Browns defense, but it was too late for me to have any chance at winning fantasy this week. OBJ had a good game back in the Big Apple with a nice big run and an impressive reception to boot. The Jets looked terrible but that really wasn’t a big surprise.
WEEK 2
Thursday September 19th
Titans (1-1) @ Jaguars (0-2) [8:20pm NBC]
I’m picking the Titans to win this game, I just hope it’s low scoring as I have to start the Jags defense this week.
Sunday September 22nd
Bengals (0-2) @ Bills (2-0) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Bills to win this game, I don’t really have a good reason, other than they are home.
Dolphins (0-2) @ Cowboys (2-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Cowboys to win. I think the Dolphins are essentially the “Taco” of the NFL. You’ll get that reference if you ever watched The League.
Broncos (0-2) @ Packers (2-0) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Packers to win this game and I hope that Aaron Rodgers has a big game.
Falcon (1-1) @ Colts (1-1) [1pm CBS]
This will be the Colts home opener, so I’m going to pick them to win this game.
Ravens (2-0) @ Chiefs (2-0) [1pm CBS]
I’m picking the Chiefs to win this game.
Raiders (1-1) @ Vikings (1-1) [1pm FOX]
I’m picking the Vikings to win this game.
Jets (0-2) @ Patriots (2-0) [1pm CBS]
The Patriots will win this game. No doubt.
Lions (1-0-1) @ Eagles (1-1) [1pm FOX]
The Eagles cancelled practice Wednesday due to all the injuries sustained in week two’s game. I think that the Eagles will bounce back and will win this game.
Panthers (0-2) @ Cardinals (0-1-1) [4:05pm FOX]
I think that the Cardinals are going to get their first win of the season.
NY Giants (0-2) @ Buccaneers (1-1) [4:05pm FOX]
Now that the Giants are going with Danny Jones the real pressure is on. I’m not ready to pick the Giants to win yet, so I’m picking the Bucs to win but I’m hoping I’ll be wrong, and obviously I’ll be rooting for the Giants.
Texans (1-1) @ Chargers (1-1) [4:25pm CBS]
I think that I’m going to pick the Texans to win. I really don’t have a good reason for this. It could go either way, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chargers did pull off this win.
Steelers (0-2) @ 49ers (2-0) [4:25pm CBS]
I’m picking the 49ers to win this game, without Big Ben I think that the Steelers season is over.
Saints (1-1) @ Seahawks (2-0) [4:25pm CBS]
I’m picking the Seahawks to win this game. I do not have high hopes for the Saints now that Brees is out.
Rams (2-0) @ Browns (1-1) [8:20pm NBC]
I’m going with the Rams to win this game. I just don’t think that the Browns can keep up with LA.
Monday September 23rd
Bears (1-1) @ Redskins (0-2) [8:15 ESPN]
I’m picking Da Bears, that way the Giants won’t be alone at 0-3 in the NFC East.
GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Eric!
