Regular Season Week 3

I’ll have to say that week two wasn’t as painful as week one, unless your name is Tony Romo, Michael Vick, or Domenik Hixon. I mean, if you are a Colts fan or a Chiefs fan it’s looking like it’s going to be pretty painful every weekend but someone’s got to lose each week right?  It’s now time to make a decision. Are you going to be a die-hard fan or a fair-weather fan? There are a lot of 2-0 teams and a lot of 0-2 teams headed into week 3.  I think the most surprising 2-0 teams are the Texans, Redskins, Lions and the Bills.  All the 0-2 teams are not really surprising except for the Colts in my opinion. It’s really hard for me to put the Colts in the 0-2 group, but there they are. I’m beginning to realize what its like to be a Panthers fan…. It sucks.
Enough bellyaching, lets recap week two.

Oakland @ Buffalo 35-38
This was a pretty intense game. No scores in the first quarter but they made up for it in the other three. Oakland scored 3 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter while the Bills only had a field goal. It wasn’t looking so good for the Bills. But after halftime they came back out on the field and took the game having 2 TDs in the 3rd quarter while Oakland had no scores and then a shootout in the 4th with the Bills coming out on top. Way-to-go Bills, glad I picked you to win. Now if you can win in week 3 I’ll be jumping on your bandwagon.

Green Bay @ Carolina 30-23
All right, well I am glad I didn’t actually bet my friend last week and give him 20 points but I did pick Green Bay to win. The Panthers surprised me. They are looking pretty good. Now if they could just win a game. Cam threw for another 400+ yard game. He’s pretty impressive I suppose. I’ll have to get out to see him again this season.

Kansas City @ Detroit 3-48
I didn’t think that KC could have had a worse loss than week one but man was I wrong. Wow. I hate to see what the score is this week. Stafford had 4 TD passes while Cassel had 3 interceptions and no TDs. It’s not looking good for KC but it’s looking pretty great for Detroit this season… and I must say it’s about time.

Cleveland @ Indianapolis 27-19
Dear Indianapolis, YOU’RE KILLING ME! Love, shenoa. PS especially you Kerry!
Seriously. You were playing THE BROWNS! (No offence Browns. I like you. Really I do, but you aren’t a great team. I know you know that. You are kinda in the same category as the Chiefs and Panthers.) It’s really sad when YOUR KICKER scores the most points for your team!!!!! (Major props to Vinatieri I’m just glad he showed up to the game and actually played) You know we are only going into week 3 and already the sports analysts are saying that the Colts best bet is to get the first draft pick next year and draft Andrew Luck. … yeah we could use some luck on this team.
Disgusted.

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota 24-20
McNabb had 39 passing yards last week this week he had 228 but it wasn’t enough to win the game. He didn’t have any TD passes but the Vikings running game was pretty impressive. It was a close game but the Bucs came out on top. I am truly sorry for my Minnesota friends, I really thought they would win this game. Chin up guys, I’m sure you’ll have a better season than the Colts.

Chicago @ New Orleans 13-30
Chicago really didn’t have a chance in this game. The Saints offense and defense simply outplayed the Bears. Brees had 3 TD passes while Cutler had only 1 TD and was sacked 6 times. It was a pretty easy win for the Saints, glad I picked them to win this game.

Jacksonville @ New York Jets 3-32
Usually when your QB throws 2 interceptions the outcome of the game is not in your favor unless the QB for the opposing team throws 4 interceptions. (And no, Eli Manning nor Kerry Collins was the opposing QB.) Sanchez did throw 2 interceptions but he also threw 2 TDs. The Jags QB, Luke McCown had only 59 passing yards, no TDs and 4 interceptions.  In the past it’s been pretty rare for all 3 NY teams to win in a given week but we did it this week. Thanks boys, New York is WINNING!

Seattle @ Pittsburgh 0-24
Well I guess Pittsburgh bounced back from week 1. Can’t say as much for Seattle, though they did manage to take out Big Ben for a little bit, even though it wasn’t intentional. EPIC FAIL SEATTLE.

Baltimore @ Tennessee 13-26
What the hell happened Baltimore?!?! How do you come off a win over the Steelers last week and then bend over for the Titans. I don’t get it.  Sure you may have been able to shut down Chris Johnson but you let Hasselbeck throw for 358 yards and a TD. Flacco only threw for 197 yards and had one TD BUT had 2 interceptions! Come on! I expected more from you Baltimore.

Arizona @ Washington 21-22
Such a close game but Washington rallied in the last 2 minutes to beat the Cardinals with a field goal. I wish it had ended differently. The Skins may be 2-0 but with Rex leading them they’ll fall sooner or later.

Dallas @ San Francisco 27-24
Romo plays through a broken rib and punctured lung and leads his team to victory. We’ll let him have his glory for this week. I’m just excited for the Cowboys to play the Giants this season. December 11th. Can’t wait. Hey Romo remember what happened the last time you played the Giants? A broken rib is nothing in comparison to a broken collar bone…
San Francisco I was rooting for you! Thanks for letting me down.

Cincinnati @ Denver 22-24
I can’t believe I picked Cincinnati to win. Maybe it was because Denver put Tebow in. Not that he actually did anything. He went in as a wide receiver and lost 7 yards but hey the fans love him (and so do I) It was a close game and I’m pretty sure John Fox said “oh so this is what it feels like to win”…

Houston @ Miami 23-13
I picked Houston to win so I should be happy. But I’m not. The Texans are now 2-0 and my Colts are 0-2 and in the same division. This is not good for me. I really wish I had more to say about this game but I don’t.

San Diego @ New England 21-35
BAHHHHH  I HATE NEW ENGLAND. True story. The End.

Philadelphia  @ Atlanta 31-35
This was a great game! Atlanta welcomed Vick back with a gift wrapped concussion. Tony Gonzalez had two TD catches one of which was an amazing one handed catch  in the back of the endzone. Matt Ryan had 4 TD passes and 2 interceptions Vick only had 2 TDs and one interception but like I said left the game with a concussion. Thanks Atlanta for the win.

St. Louis @ New York Giants 16-28
A win is a win. This game wasn’t pretty. But the GMEN came out on top, which is very pretty in my opinion. Sure there were faked injuries, torn ACL’s, concussions, and circus type catches but a win is a win. Eli was better this week with only one interception but it was the Ram’s big huge mistakes that really helped the Giants. The Giants Defense really stepped up when it mattered the most holding the Rams to field goals for most of the night. Let me just say. Hakeem Nicks’ TD catch was awesome, Brandon Jacobs walk in TD was amazing, but Domenik Hixon’s TD catch was ABSOLUTLEY SPECTACULAR! (Hixon tore his ACL on that play so its sad that it was his last play of the season but he sure did go out in style. He openly stated “I just wanted to Thank Everyone for all your support!!! It's going to be a tough road BUT with God in your corner anything can be done! This is going to be one heck of a story when everything is all said and done with! Hope everyone has a blessed day! GO GMEN!!!!”) GMEN fans keep your heads held high and don’t quit on our boys.

11-5 on week 2 picks… not too shabby.

WEEK 3

New England @ Buffalo (1pm CBS)
OK both teams are 2-0 coming into this game. I’ll be rooting for the Bills and hoping to jump on their bandwagon at the end of this game. But if I were a betting girl I’d have to pick the Pats to win this game.  As I say every week when I pick the Pats to win I hope I’m wrong. GO BILLS!

Jacksonville @ Carolina (1pm CBS)
It’s the battle of the rookie quarterbacks. I’m going to have to pick Carolina. This is the game they’ll win. (I feel like its always a ballsy move to pick the Panthers) Jacksonville 1-1 Carolina 0-2

San Francisco @ Cincinnati (1pm FOX)
Both teams are 1-1 coming into this game. I’m going to have to pick Cincinnati to win only because of home field advantage

Miami @ Cleveland (1pm CBS)
I don’t see Miami going 0-3 after this game. I’d like to see Cleveland win but I’m going with Miami this week because they need the win more. Miami 0-2 Cleveland 1-1

Detroit @ Minnesota (1pm FOX)
This is a must win for Minnesota being that they are 0-2 headed into this game but I really see Detroit coming out 3-0 after this game. I’m going with Detroit.

Houston @ New Orleans (1pm CBS)
This weekend is Houston’s weekend to lose. I’m going with the Saints. Houston 2-0 New Orleans 1-1

New York Giants @ Philadelphia   (1pm Fox)
I am sick and tired of hearing about the “miracle comeback” from last season. If Dodge had just kicked it out of bounds like he was told to the Giants would have won that game… BAHHHHH. I know the Eagles have won the last 6 times the Giants have played them.  I am going against all the analysts and commentators and picking the Giants to win this game. I really, really think they can do it. There is another guy (Gmen Superfan) who writes for the Giants in whom I follow and he reminded his readers this “the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl last year with, what was it, 16 starters on IR?? The Giants have 6 guys on IR right now, and one of them is a backup QB...we're 1-1...SO STOP HATING, AND HAVE SOME FAITH!!! GMEN!!!” Both teams are 1-1 going into this game. GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!

Denver @ Tennessee (1pm CBS)
Both teams are 1-1 going into this game and as much as I don’t want to I’m going to have to pick the Titans for the win.

New York Jets @ Oakland (4:05pm CBS)
I think Oakland is going to get beat by NY two weeks in a row. Jets are 2-0 Raiders 1-1

Kansas City @ San Diego (4:05pm CBS)
Pretty sure KC will be 0-3 after this game. I’m going with the Chargers at home who are 1-1 headed into this game.

Baltimore @ St. Louis (4:05pm CBS)
St. Louis has just made too many mistakes and I don’t see them winning at home this week. I see the Ravens winning on the road. Baltimore is 1-1 St. Louis is 0-2

Green Bay @ Chicago (4:15pm FOX)
I really see Green Bay winning this game and going 3-0 as the Bears fall to 1-2

Arizona @ Seattle (4:15pm FOX)
This is tough but I’ll have to go with the Cardinals. No real reason except Arizona has Larry Fitzgerald and Kevin Kolb seems to be the stronger QB.  Arizona 1-1 Seattle 0-2

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay (4:15pm FOX)
I think that Atlanta is going to win this one. Both teams are 1-1

Pittsburgh @ Indianapolis (8:20pm NBC)
This just makes me sad. Pittsburgh will win. Indi will go 0-3. I will cry. But maybe, just maybe… ah never mind. Reality sucks. Pittsburgh is 1-1

Washington @ Dallas (MNF 8:30pm ESPN)
I don’t like either of these teams. I’m hoping it’ll end in a tie. But if I have to pick a winner I’m going to go with Dallas. I’d like to see Grossman fall apart. I mean, I’d like to see Romo fall apart too. Actually it would be awesome if both teams fell apart… GO GMEN! Washington is 2-0 Dallas 1-1

So there are my picks. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading as much as I’ve enjoyed writing. GO GIANTS, COLTS, AND BILLS !!!

Regular Season Week 2

Well we’ve got week one under our belts. Some of us rejoice at the end of week one and some of us weep. I was one of those weeping. Seriously in what world do we live in where the Colts and Giants lose and the Lions and Bills win? Obviously it’s not my perfect world. I suppose the biggest news in the NFL right now is that Peyton Manning is out for the season with his third neck surgery. The next biggest news, and I know it may come as a big surprise to all of you, is Brett Favre is STILL retired! I know, I can’t believe it either. Anyway, let’s recap week one.

WEEK 1

New Orleans @ Green Bay 34-42
This was a very exciting game. It was a bit one sided to start but the Saints answered back and put up a great fight. The Packers won like I said they would and it was a great way to start the season. I do have a question though. With John Kasay playing for the Saints now who is going to score all the points for the Panthers? Side note: Maybe if the Saints hadn’t taken a day of practice to run drills with Ellen Degeneres they would have won the game. I mean, she’s funny but… well you saw the outcome.

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore 7-35
I am so glad I was wrong!!!! Not gonna lie, I watched this entire game with glee. Flacco had 3 touchdowns and Roethlisberger had 3 interceptions. The Ravens defense forced a record 7 turnovers! Fantastic!

Atlanta @ Chicago 12-30
This was another surprise for me. I really thought that Chicago would lose after the way their season ended last year.  But Cutler did a pretty decent job and the Bears defense was really great. Urlacher had an interception and returned a fumble for a touchdown. (Keep Brian Urlacher and his family in your prayers. His mother died suddenly this week)

Cincinnati @ Cleveland 27-17
I was wrong again! It’s amazing how well Cincinnati did WITHOUT T.O. and Ochocinco.  But I think the real reason Cleveland lost is that they were super sloppy and just not ready. Poor Cleveland just can’t get a break. Hopefully their new head coach Pat Shurmur can get it together.

Indianapolis @ Houston 7-34
I have never been a Kerry Collins fan, and that is an understatement. When he left the Giants it was one of the best days of my life. I mean even the Panthers got rid of him. When I heard he had retired I called my father and we had a little mini party over the phone. And now he is out of retirement and playing for my Colts?!!?!??!!?!?!
[insert expletives here] [and here] … [and here] OK. I know that Peyton never played on defense, nor special teams so I can’t blame Kerry for their lack of playing on Sunday. I, thankfully, did not get the game on tv so I was listening to it on my handy dandy iPhone. I think I got through the first quarter before turning it off because the Colts were ruining my Sunday. Houston walked all over us. It wasn’t pretty. Boys you’ve got to GET IT TOGETHER or it’s going to be a very long “Pantheresk” season.

Tennessee @ Jacksonville 14-16
The Jags edged by the Titans. It was pretty evenly matched though Jacksonville had a more impressive first half and Tennessee had a more impressive second half. If it weren’t for Hasselbeck’s interception in the last 30 seconds of the game Tennessee probably would have won.

Buffalo @ Kansas City 41-7
WOW. Is it too early to say that the Bills may be legit this season? Wait, what? The Bills won? By that much? Poor KC.  Fitzpatrick was on fire with 4 touchdown passes while Cassel only had one TD and one interception. I was definitely wrong when I picked KC to win this game. But really, who picked the Bills to win besides Bills fans?

Philadelphia @ St. Louis 31-13
I hate being right sometimes. And I hate the Eagles. They beat up on the Rams and Sam Bradford left the game in the fourth quarter to get x-rays on a finger on his throwing hand. Michael Vick was, well, Michael Vick and pretty much unstoppable. Blah.

Detroit @ Tampa Bay 27-20
Call me crazy but I actually picked Detroit to win this game. They looked good and simply outplayed Tampa Bay. Keep up the good work Lions.

Carolina @ Arizona 21-28
I watched this game and I actually thought that Carolina was going to pull off the win. Cam looked great, phenomenal, actually. He threw for over 400 yards and had only one interception. It’s looking like Cam is just what the Panthers needed. Now they just have to work on their special teams and defense.

Minnesota @ San Diego 17-24
Even though Rivers had 2 interceptions he also had 2 TDs and threw for 335 yards. McNabb had only one interception and one TD but threw for only 39 yards. The Chargers just outplayed the Vikings.

Seattle @ San Francisco 17-33
I did not see the 49ers winning this game. You’ll realize early on that I am wrong in my predictions kinda sorta often but it doesn’t stop me from making them. There has been much debate on the new kickoff rule because there doesn’t seem to be many opportunities for returns. But, with this game as well as others this past week, the new rule may not be such a challenge as once thought. In fact the 49ers’ win was in part a result of a kickoff return for a touchdown.

New York Giants @ Washington 14-28
This was painful. Just painful. Washington outplayed us. Yes I could say that we are beat up, that many of our starters were injured and not playing, but we are the Giants! The Giants are supposed to be the underdogs, the ones that overcome adversity. I expect more from you boys. Losing is not acceptable.  When you go into halftime tied I expect you to win the game.

Dallas @ New York Jets 24-27
J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! I would like to thank Tony Romo for the fumble and interception in the fourth quarter to give the Jets the win in this Sunday night game. A New York win and a Dallas loss always makes me smile. And how about that block Burress had as well as his first TD as a Jet. Thanks for not giving up NY. It was a big win on 9-11.

New England @ Miami 38-24
I watched half this game and then got disgusted and turned it off. Miami couldn’t contain New England and were embarrassed at home. Ochocinco didn’t do jack for the Pats on the field but his thumbs seem to work because he sure can tweet about it. Wes Welker is a beast and I would love for him to come to the good side and play for the Giants… In my dreams I suppose.  The only thing I can hold onto is that no matter how well New England does during the regular season they haven’t made the playoffs since their Superbowl loss to the Giants in 2008… and THAT always makes me smile.

Oakland @ Denver 23-20
Denver fans are quite vocal in who they want to see on the field. It must be hard for Orton to be the starting QB and hear the crowd chant TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW. It doesn’t help the situation that they have John Fox as a coach either. The highlight of the game came in the first quarter with a tied record 63-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski put the Raiders over Denver.

So I am 9-7 after week one. Lets see how I do with week two.

WEEK 2

Oakland @ Buffalo (1pm CBS)
Well after last week I’m going to have to pick the Bills to win. Don’t let me down Buffalo! Oakland 1-0 Buffalo 1-0

Green Bay @ Carolina (1pm FOX)
In talking to a friend during the Carolina game last week he said that he thought that Carolina could win this week. I told him they absolutely wouldn’t and I would give him 20 points… I’m picking the Packers to win this one for sure.  Green Bay 1-0 Carolina 0-1

Kansas City @ Detroit (1pm CBS)
I’m going to have to go with Detroit again this week. Kansas City 0-1 Detroit 1-0

Cleveland @ Indianapolis (1pm CBS)
This is a tough one.  Both teams are struggling but I’m going to put some big faith in Kerry and rely on the Colts D for the win this week.  Cleveland 0-1 Indianapolis 0-1

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota (1pm FOX)
I think that McNabb can do better this week and win their home opener in Minnesota. Tampa Bay 0-1 Minnesota 0-1

Chicago @ New Orleans (1pm FOX)
This is going to be an emotional game for Chicago. They will either have a top-notch defense or fall apart. It’s hard to say. I would pick them to win if they were playing at home but I’ve got to go with the Saints this week. Chicago 1-0 New Orleans 0-1

Jacksonville @ New York Jets (1pm CBS)
I’m going with the Jets. The Colts are last in their division and they will need all the help they can get this season. Jacksonville 1-0 Jets 1-0

Seattle @ Pittsburgh (1pm FOX)
Pittsburgh was embarrassed last week and I don’t think they will allow to be embarrassed against the Seahawks. I mean I hope I’m wrong but I am picking the Steelers to win this game. Seattle 0-1 Pittsburgh 0-1

Baltimore @ Tennessee (1pm CBS)
I’m going with the Ravens for the win this week. Not just because they whooped the Steelers but, again, I need Tennessee to lose to help out the Colts. Sorry Abby. Baltimore 1-0 Tennessee 0-1

Arizona @ Washington (1pm FOX)
As much as I don’t want to, I’m going to pick Washington to win. I hope I’m wrong.
Arizona 1-0 Washington 1-0

Dallas @ San Francisco (4:05pm FOX)
Let’s hope Dallas falls apart again this week. I’m going with the 49ers to win their home opener! Dallas 0-1 San Francisco 1-0

Cincinnati @ Denver (4:15pm CBS)
I’m going with a Denver upset and picking Cincinnati to win. Cincinnati 1-0 Denver 0-1

Houston @ Miami (4:15pm CBS)
I’m picking Houston to win this week though I hope I’m wrong.  They looked good last week against the Colts but their MVP was Kerry Collins so who knows. Houston 1-0 Miami 0-1

San Diego @ New England (4:15pm CBS)
I’m picking New England to win but again I hope I’m wrong. Very wrong. San Diego please put Brady on the ground a lot. Thanks. San Diego 1-0 New England 1-0

Philadelphia  @ Atlanta (8:20pm NBC)
I would love to see Atlanta win this. I am actually going to pick the Falcons. Welcome back to Atlanta Vick. I hope the Falcons pick apart the Eagles. Philadelphia 1-0 Atlanta 0-1

St. Louis @ New York Giants (Monday 8:30 ESPN)
I have got to go with the GMEN for the win. I can pick against the Colts but I just don’t have the heart to pick against the Giants. So GMEN you need to bounce back after last week. St. Louis 0-1 Giants 0-1

Thanks for reading! (And thanks Mom for editing!)  GO COLTS AND GO GMEN!!!!!!!!

Regular Season Week 1

If you are a first time reader, welcome! I started this blog last year after a number of people asked me for my opinion on football and what teams they should root for… I’m back this year for another season!!!!!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know about you but I think that was the longest offseason ever. The Lockout was 136 days of pure agony and torture. So glad that’s over. I personally watched more preseason football this year than I ever have in all my football watching life. I’m just so glad it’s back.
I can’t even begin to fill you in on all the signings and trades that went on in the offseason.  We’ll just have to work through them during this season. I think the biggest news going into this season is BRETT FAVRE IS STILL RETIRED! Thank God. But really, I guess I’ll have to find someone else to pick on…

Before going into week one I would just like to go back to February of last year and congratulate the Green Bay Packers for thumping the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Superbowl! Way to go boys!

WEEK 1!

New Orleans @ Green Bay  (Thursday 8:30pm NBC)
This game is going to kick off the regular season and I’m going to pick the Packers to win this one.

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore (Sunday 1:00pm CBS)
As much as I don’t like the Steelers I’m pretty sure they are going to upset the Ravens at their home opener. I hope I’m wrong.

Atlanta @ Chicago (Sunday 1:00pm FOX)
I’m picking Atlanta.

Cincinnati @ Cleveland  (Sunday 1:00pm CBS)
I’m going with Cleveland.

Indianapolis @ Houston (Sunday 1:00pm CBS)
With Peyton not playing at all Sunday I don’t think Kerry has what it takes to lead the football team to victory. I really, really, really hope I’m wrong. But I don’t think that the Colts are going to win an awful lot without # 18.

Tennessee @ Jacksonville (Sunday 1:00pm CBS)
Well the Titans should do better without Kerry but I don’t think they will beat the Jags at their home opener.

Buffalo @ Kansas City (Sunday 1:00pm CBS)
Heh. Yeah I would love to pick Buffalo. But It’s Buffalo… So I’ll pick KC

Philadelphia @ Saint Louis (Sunday 1:00pm FOX)
I loathe the Eagles and would love for the Rams to win their home opener. I don’t believe the hype of the “dream team”. But I don’t think the Rams will win… again I hope I’m wrong.

Detroit @ Tampa Bay (Sunday 1:00pm FOX)
Call me crazy but I’m going with Detroit with the upset.

Carolina @ Arizona (Sunday 4:15pm FOX)
This may be Carolina’s day for a win. I’ll pick them this time to show some Carolina support.

Minnesota @ San Diego  (Sunday 4:15pm FOX)
I love McNabb but I don’t think the Vikings will beat the Chargers at home.

Seattle @ San Francisco (Sunday 4:15pm FOX)
I’m going with the birds.

New York Giants @ Washington (Sunday 4:15pm FOX)
Obviously I’m going with the GMEN!

Dallas @ New York Jets (Sunday 8:20pm NBC)
I like the Jets in this one. PS I hate the Cowboys.

New England @ Miami (Monday 7:00pm ESPN)
Just thinking about a New England win makes me nauseous, but I don’t think that Miami is going to win their opener. I so hope I’m wrong. (I hope I’m wrong a lot you will see)

Oakland @ Denver (Monday 10:15pm ESPN)
I’m going with Oakland because the Bronco’s don’t have Timmy leading them to victory.

And there are my picks for Week 1! Let’s hope for a great season. Hope you enjoyed reading this because I sure did enjoy writing it! LETS GO GMEN and COLTS! PS. Pray for Peyton.
