SUPER BOWL 51

HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little sad that another football season has come to an end. This will be the last time we have football on Sunday until August. But let’s not start pouting just yet, we’ve got one more game to watch! I wasn’t very excited about writing this football report until I watched a recap of Super Bowl 42, aka the best Super Bowl Ever, last night. There are many similarities going into this current game. For one, the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl again and, again, they are favored. Also, there are a lot of people, including myself, that didn’t think the Falcons even had a chance of making the post season. Like the Giants on the road to Super Bowl 42, the Falcons have made it to the big game. But before I get into this Super Bowl I want to recap Championship Sunday, the Pro Bowl, and mention the awards that took place last night.
Last night was the NFL Honors award show. I’m not going to list all of the winners; I’m just going to give you a taste. Matt Ryan received the most awards with FedEx Air & Ground Player of the year, AP (Associated Press) Offensive Player of the Year, and AP Most Valuable Player. AP Offensive Rookie of the Year went to Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys. AP Defensive Rookie of the Year went to Joey Bosa, LA Chargers. AP Defensive Player of the Year went to Khalil Mack, Oakland Raiders.  Eli Manning of the New York Football Giants and Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals were co-winners of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award!
The Pro Bowl was last Sunday and the AFC beat the NFC 20-13. The games/challenges leading up to the Pro Bowl were way more exciting than the actual game on Sunday night.
Now let’s recap Championship Sunday to see who advanced to Houston for Super Bowl 51.  Overall I went 1-1 on my picks. I think I had a touch of the flu and slept through a good share of both games. I don’t remember much, just that both games were terrible.

Packers @ Falcons 21-44
The Falcons clearly dominated this entire game. The Packers didn’t even got on the board until the second half and by that time the damage had already been done. Matt Ryan had 392 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown. It’s no wonder he received the MVP award this year. I hope he can keep up this level of excellence for one more game.

Steelers @ Patriots 17-36
This game didn’t really surprise me. I didn’t make it to the end, sleeping was more important. The Patriots dominated the entire game taking away Pittsburgh’s only weapon, Le’Veon Bell. That’s really all I have to say about that.

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

Sunday February 5th

Patriots VS Falcons  [6:30pm FOX]
Coverage for the game started at 9am this morning. Super Bowl 51 will be played at NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans. Kick off is set for approximately 6:30pm EST. Lady Gaga will do the halftime show.
This will be New England’s 9th Super Bowl appearance and Atlanta’s 2nd. Hopefully the Falcons will be able to lift the Lombardi for the first time in a win over the Patriots. That’s my pick. During the regular season I usually, begrudgingly, pick the Patriots to win, but I never pick them to win the Super Bowl. I’ve been right on two occasions and am hoping to be right again tonight.
There is a lot of talk around Tom Brady and Rodger Goodell, and what will happen IF the Pats win. It’s customary for the Commissioner, Goodell, to pass the Lombardi trophy to the winner. At the start of this football season Goodell had Brady suspended for four games because of deflate gate. Drama ensues.
Matt Ryan is the MVP of the League and hopefully will be the MVP of this game as well. They’ve got a dynamite offense and for the most part are pretty healthy going into this game. The Patriots are just slightly favored to win this game. I just hope it’s a good game, with an Atlanta win.
Enjoy the game. Enjoy the commercials. Be a Falcons fan for a day. I know I will.

GO ATLANTA!!!!!

Thanks for the edit Eric!
