The Shenoa Report Championship Sunday '17 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
January 22, 2017
CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY

Well, I went 2-2 on my picks for Divisional Weekend, thanks Seattle. Though, I’m not at all upset with Green Bay! How ‘bout those Cowboys?!
There are four teams left and I’m really not too excited about any of them. I would have to pull for the team that knocked my team out though.  It would be nice to see a Super Bowl XLV repeat (that’s when the Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl 45). I guess we’ll see after this weekend.
In non play-off news it looks like the Raiders are moving to Las Vegas and Johnny Manziel says he’s sober. It’s easier to believe that the Raiders are moving to Vegas than the latter. Sure Johnny, you’re sober, isn’t this the umpteenth time you’ve said so?
Before we talk about the Championship Sunday let’s recap wild divisional weekend.

Seahawks @ Falcons 20-36
There was no stopping the Falcons on Saturday. Matt Ryan has turned over a new leaf and that leaf doesn’t include giving the game away to the opponent. Seattle looked terrible. I must say, I did not see that coming.

Texans @ Patriots 16-34
Blah, blah, blah Patriots win. This shocked no one, Texans fans included. The good news is Tom Terrific is throwing interceptions.

Packers @ Cowboys 34-31
This game though! I really didn’t think that the Packers would pull this one off but boy did they! What a game! The crazy thing is that this game wasn’t even that close until the final few minutes and then it was a contest of field goals. I still think that the Packers should have iced the Cowboys kicker and I still don’t know how that final field goal was good. But hey, GO PACK GO!

Steelers @ Chiefs 18-16
I really thought that this would be a high scoring game but the Chiefs held the Steelers to 6 field goals! MVP of this game would have to be Chris Boswell, the Steelers kicker. If only the Chiefs could have scored one more field goal they would have won.

CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY

Sunday, January 22nd

Packers (10-6) @ Falcons (11-5) [3:05pm FOX]
Green Bay has come into all of their post-season games as an underdog and they have won every time. They are coming into this game as the underdog too. Why should this game be different? The Packers are beat up, but the Falcons aren’t 100% either. I’m picking the underdog. GO PACK GO!

Steelers (11-5) @ Patriots (14-2) [6:40pm CBS]
Man, I wish that both teams could lose. I am not excited about this game. I think I’ll just root for the defense. Defenses win championships and I hope that Pittsburgh’s defense is just a little bit better. I’m picking the Patriots to win and hoping to be incredibly wrong.

GO PACK GO!

The Shenoa Report Divisional Weekend '17

The Shenoa Report

DIVISIONAL WEEKEND

Well, I went 3-1 on my picks for Wild Card Weekend, thanks Giants…
My team is out of the playoffs; it was a tough game to watch. At least they made it to the playoffs, silver linings? I mean, I guess for the rest of the season I won’t be as biased with my picks. HAH! I tried. Before we talk about the divisional weekend let’s recap wild card weekend.

Raiders @ Texans 14-27
Without Derek Carr, the Raiders were lost and couldn’t pull it together. Houston walked all over Oakland picking off their third string rookie QB, Connor Cook, 3 times. Sorry Raiders fans, at least your team made it to the playoffs? (That’s what I’m telling my self too in regards to the Giants.)

Lions @ Seahawks 6-26
I wanted this to be a closer game.  Seattle just played a better, tougher, tighter game. Maybe it would have been different if it was a home game for the Lions. Sorry Lions fans, at least your team made it to the playoffs?

Dolphins @ Steelers 12-30
Le’Veon Bell is a beast and missing the playoffs the past two years had a positive effect on him. The Dolphins were no match for the Steelers offense or defense. The Steelers defense had some scary hits on Miami’s QB Matt Moore and Miami didn’t have anything “in their back pocket” to combat them. Sorry Dolphins fans, at least your team made it to the playoffs.

NY Giants @ Packers 13-38
Playoff Eli showed up but his wide receivers left their ability to catch a ball on a boat somewhere in Miami. Disappointed doesn’t even start to describe how I feel about this game. Well done Green Bay, you played a great game. Giants, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

DIVISIONAL WEEKEND

Saturday, January 14th

Seahawks (11-5-1) @ Falcons (11-5) [4:35pm FOX]
I would be more surprised with a Falcons win than a Falcons loss. The Seahawks have more recent playoff experience than the Falcons. I’m picking Seattle for the win.

Texans (10-7) @ Patriots (14-2) [8:15pm CBS]
As much as I would like to see the Texans beat the Patriots, I’m not counting on it. I’ll be rooting for the Texans but picking the Pats for the win.

Sunday, January 15th

Packers (11-6) @ Cowboys (13-3) [4:40pm FOX]
If the Packers were healthy, I’d pick them over the Cowboys. Like the Texans I’ll be rooting for the Packers but picking the Cowboys for the win.

Steelers (12-5) @ Chiefs (12-4) [8:20pm NBC]
The game time has been moved from 1:05pm to 8:20pm. KC is expected to get some bad weather and moving the game back will hopefully provide the local authorities with time to clear the roads making it safe for travel. I’d love to see KC win this game but if the Steelers play like they did last week it’ll be a tough game to win. I’m picking the Steelers to win the game but I really hope I’m wrong.

Thanks for the edit Eric!

The Shenoa Report Wild Card Weekend '17 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report
January 7, 2017
WILD CARD WEEKEND

We’ve made it to the post season. Happy Wild Card Weekend to you. There are games today and tomorrow.  As you can see, I’ve waited until the last minute to write and post this again.   I went 11-5 with my picks last week and the Giants won. The last week of the regular season was good. Lets recap.

Ravens @ Bengals 10-27
Sure, when there is nothing at stake the Bengals came to play.

Texans @ Titans 17-24
It must be hard for the Titans who ended the season with the same record as their division champs but failed to make the playoffs.

Panthers @ Buccaneers 16-17
I think the Panthers are glad that this season is actually now over for them. The nightmare is over. They now look to new beginnings and a longer offseason than last year.  The Bucs celebrate their first winning season in 6 years even though they didn’t make it to the playoffs. Baby steps.

Browns @ Steelers 24-27 OT
The Browns almost had their second win of the season but the Steelers spoiled that. The Browns did seal the number one draft pick with this OT loss though.

Cowboys @ Eagles 13-27
Tony Romo may have thrown his last touchdown pass as a Cowboy and Dallas loses to the Eagles. Great game. It’s not often that I actually pull for the Eagles and I’m glad they didn’t let me down.

Bills @ Jets 10-30
This game was as pathetic as the Jets season. Even though they won the game they really have nothing to be proud of. For the Bills, at least they are used to only playing the regular season.

Bears @Vikings 10-38
The Vikings had a rollercoaster of a season while the Bears just flat lined.

Jaguars @ Colts 20-24
The Colts literally relied on Luck to win this game but didn’t have enough luck to make it to the post season for the first time in years.

Patriots @ Dolphins 35-14
New England blah, blah, blah, at least we don’t have to watch them play next week as they secured a first round bye and home field advantage with this win.

Chiefs @ Chargers 37-27
KC also secured a first round bye with this win and help from Oakland.

Cardinals @ Rams 44-6
The Cardinals beat their opponents soundly. Ouch.

Raiders @ Broncos 6-24
It’s safe to say that Oakland is in trouble without Derek Carr.

NY Giants @ Redskins 19-10
It was great to see the Giants win and even nicer to see them knock the Redskins out of the hopes of post-season play. Kirk Cousins, you like that? The Giants defense played a great game, now the offense really has to step up. Good job Gmen!

Seahawks @ 49ers 25-23
Chip Kelly lost his coaching job after this loss and even though Seattle won they didn’t look great, in my opinion.

Saints @ Falcons 32-38
Matty Ice for MVP? Atlanta fans think so. It’s a good thing he has wide receivers that can actually catch the ball. It is pretty amazing that Atlanta is seeded second in the NFC.

Packers @ Lions 31-24
The Packers are the division champs and the Lions also make the playoffs.

WILD CARD WEEKEND

Saturday, January 7th

Raiders (12-4) @ Texans (9-7) [4:35pm ESPN, ABC]
If Derek Carr was playing I’d pick the Raiders to win hands down, but he isn’t so I’m going to have to pick the Texans for the win.

Lions (9-7) @ Seahawks (10-5-1) [8:15pm NBC]
I’d like to see the Lions win this game but I can’t pick against Seattle at home. I’m picking the Seahawks for the win.

Sunday, January 8th

Dolphins (10-6) @ Steelers (11-5) [1:05pm CBS]
Like the Lions, I’d like to see the Dolphins win this game but I’m not going to pick against the Steelers at home. I’m picking Pittsburgh for the win.

NY Giants (11-5) @ Packers (10-6) [4:40pm FOX]
The Giants have done it before and they can do it again. I’m picking the Giants to win this game. Our defense is solid and playoff Eli is way better than regular season Eli. Let’s hope the right Eli shows up Sunday.

BYE: Patriots, Chiefs, Cowboys, Falcons

GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Shenoa Report Reagular Season Week 17 '17 #theshenoareport

The Shenoa Report

Regular Season Week 17

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May 2017 be better than 2016! This is the last week of the regular season, so all the games are on Sunday. I don’t know about you, but I went through a little bit of a withdrawal not watching football on Thursday night. On the other hand, it was nice not having to write this report mid week. As you can see, I’ve waited until the last minute to write and post this.   I went 8-8 in my picks (which is terrible), the Giants lost, BUT I am a fantasy football champion once again winning this past week in the 1st place bracket.
Here’s the recap.

NY Giants @ Eagles 19-24
It’s a good thing that this game was Thursday night therefore it didn’t ruin Christmas. Shake my head. Should’ve watched Silver Linings Playbook, at least the Giants beat the Eagles in that movie.

Vikings @ Packers 25-38
I’d like to thank Jordy Nelson for helping me secure first place in my fantasy league. I’d also like to thank Aaron Rodgers, even though he wasn’t on my team, he threw it to Jordy enough.

Titans @ Jaguars 17-38
You think you know a team…The Titans lost the game and lost their starting QB after he suffered a broken leg in the 3rd quarter.

Jets @ Patriots 3-41
Dear Jets, at least it wasn’t a shut out.

Chargers @ Browns 17-20
THE BROWNS WON THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON!!!!!! The Chargers became “that team” that lost to the Browns.

Redskins @ Bears 41-21
Well, the Bears played like, the Bears so the Redskins won.

Falcons @ Panthers 33-16
It’s amazing what a difference a season can make. The Panthers never recovered from that Super Bowl hangover.

Dolphins @ Bills 34-31 OT
Got to watch this game with some family who are Bills fans to boot. We all said bye bye to Rex Ryan at the end of overtime. Rex and Rob Ryan were both let go in the days to follow.

Colts @ Raiders 25-33
Derek Carr broke his leg in the 4th quarter but the Raiders were still able to pull off the win. In other news, the Colts were still able to give me enough points in fantasy to help me win even though they didn’t.

49ers @ Rams 22-21
The 49ers are only marginally better than the Browns, winning their second game of the season.

Cardinals @ Seahawks 34-31
The Seahawks lost a heartbreaking game in the last seconds at home.

Buccaneers @ Saints 24-31
Even though the Bucs didn’t win they kept Brees in check enough so that my opponent couldn’t rack up fantasy QB points. Thanks Tampa!

Bengals @ Texans 10-12
Well, the Bengals won’t have to worry about losing in the playoffs this year, as they won’t even make it to the post season. The Texans, on the other hand, have made it to the playoffs.

Ravens @ Steelers 27-31
The Steelers spoiled the Ravens hopes of a post season at the conclusion of this game.

Broncos @ Chiefs 10-33
Denver also seems to be suffering from a midseason induced Super Bowl hangover. (They didn’t want the Panthers to feel so all alone with the whole playing like crap thing)

Lions @ Cowboys 21-42
I really didn’t care who won or lost this game; my main focus was lots of Cowboys’ field goals (I had the Cowboys kicker on my team and he was my last player to play) as well as hopes that Ezekiel Elliot did not score (he was the last player on my opponent’s team to play). Thankfully the Cowboys pulled Elliot in the third quarter and my fantasy championship was secure.

WEEK 16

Sunday, January 1st

Ravens (8-7) @ Bengals (5-9-1) [1pm CBS]
There are no playoff implications for this game, although it will be Steve Smith Sr.’s last game so I am picking the Ravens for the win.

Texans (9-6) @ Titans (8-7) [1pm CBS]
The Texans have already clinched a playoff spot and the Titans will only be playing for pride in their season finale. I’m picking the Texans for the win.

Panthers (6-9) @ Buccaneers (8-7) [1pm FOX]
The Panthers are way out of the post season but the Bucs have a flicker of hope, ridiculous as it may be. Not only do the Bucs have to win this game to possibly get the last wildcard spot, they must also rely on the results of six other games. “So you’re telling me there’s a chance”.  I’m picking the Bucs for the win.

Browns (1-14) @ Steelers (10-5) [1pm CBS]
The Steelers have made it to the playoffs and could play their 3rd string and I’d still pick them to win over the Browns.

Cowboys (13-2) @ Eagles (6-9) [1pm FOX]
The Cowboys have already clinched and the Eagles are playing their last game of the season. The Eagles could win this game if and only if the Cowboys rest all of their starters, but I’m still picking the Cowboys to win this game.

Bills (7-8) @ Jets (4-11) [1pm CBS]
Both teams are out of the playoffs and playing for pride. I’m picking the Bills.

Bears (3-12) @Vikings (7-8)  [1pm FOX]
Both teams will be playing their last game of the season; I’m picking the Vikings for the win.

Jaguars (3-12) @ Colts (7-8) [1pm CBS]
Neither team has any hope of making the playoffs; I’m picking the Colts to win.

Patriots (13-2) @ Dolphins (10-5) [1pm CBS]
Both teams are playoff bound but with a Patriots win they lock up home field advantage for the post season. I’m picking the Pats to win but I’ll be cheering for the Dolphins.

Chiefs (11-4) @ Chargers (5-10) [4:25pm CBS]
KC has already clinched a playoff spot but with a win and an Oakland loss they could also have a first round bye. I think that KC will win this game but I’m not so sure Denver will beat Oakland.

Cardinals (6-8-1) @ Rams (4-11) [4:25pm FOX]
This is both teams season finale and I’m picking the Cardinals to win.

Raiders (12-3) @ Broncos (8-7) [4:25pm CBS]
Even with Derek Carr out I’m picking the Raiders to win this game. With a win or a KC loss the Raiders can secure a first round bye.

NY Giants (10-5) @ Redskins (8-6-1) [4:25pm FOX]
The Giants have already clinched a spot in the playoffs; the Redskins can make it to the post season with a win, as long as the Packers-Lions game doesn’t end in a tie. I’m hoping the Giants beat them and dash their hopes of any post-season play. But, it would be even more spectacular if the Redskins did win and then the Lions-Packers game DID end in a tie. I’m picking the Giants to win this game. Dear Giants play like you are playing the Cowboys, NOT the Eagles. GO GMEN!

Seahawks (9-5-1) @ 49ers (2-13) [4:25pm FOX]
The Seahawks are in the playoffs but could get a first round bye with a win and a lot of help from a lot of teams.  I’m not going to type it all out so if you are really interested in all the playoff implications let me direct you to the NFL or ESPN website.  I’m picking the Seahawks for the win.

Saints (7-8) @ Falcons (10-5) [4:25pm FOX]
The Falcons have already made it to the playoffs but could secure a first round bye with a win over the Saints. New Orleans is playing for pride. I’m picking Atlanta but wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints pulled an upset.

Packers (9-6) @ Lions (9-6) [8:30pm NBC]
The winner of this game also wins the division championship. The loser of this game’s only hope of making it to the playoffs is a Redskins loss. (I hope both teams make it to the playoffs) I’m picking the Packers for the win.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! GO GMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the edit Mom & Eric!
