SUPER BOWL XLV
I know it’s been a little while since my last report but I really didn’t think we needed a report for the Pro Bowl.
Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend! AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I may be a little excited.
Just to bring you up to date let’s look at the Championship games from a couple of weeks ago.
Green Bay @ Chicago 21-14
One thing is for sure Chicago was not able to snuff out Aaron Rodgers’ fire. On the other hand the Packers were able to get to Cutler enough to take him out of the game where he wasn’t able to return. I know there has been a lot of speculation because Jay Cutler didn’t return and lead his team to victory. But it is what it is. Chicago’s third string QB couldn’t get it done, although he was a lot better than their second string QB. It wasn’t Green Bay’s best game but it was enough to head to the Super Bowl. My favorite play of the game was probably the interception that was run back for a touchdown by defensive lineman B. J. Raji. This guy is huge and has been nicknamed “the freezer” hopefully it’ll happen again this Sunday.
New York Jets @ Pittsburgh 19-24
The Jets didn’t show up to this game until the second half and that was one of the big reasons they didn’t win. They were down 24-3 going into half time and you never want to be down when playing the Steelers. The Jets fought back but it just wasn’t enough to win the game. Pittsburgh’s “steel curtain” came down and wouldn’t allow the Jets to take the lead. The Jets did pick off Roethlisberger twice and Sanchez didn’t have any interceptions so in looking at the stats of this game Sanchez looked way better on paper. Sorry Jets fans it was a good run.
Pro Bowl AFC VS NFC 41-55
This game is always ridiculous. The rules are different, QB’s can’t be sacked, it’s a wussy game. Just sayin. The AFC’s QBs were the best players for the NFC combining 5 interceptions in this game. Rivers had two, Cassel had two, and Manning had one. Way to show your pro bowl abilities boys. The NFC only had on interception thrown by Matt Ryan but he also threw two touchdowns. The most ridiculous play was the last TD of the game where the center, Alex Mack of Cleveland, ran into the end zone. But the play wasn’t that simple, the TD happened after the QB held onto the ball without any pressure for what seemed like an eternity and then there were two laterals and finally the ball ended up in Mack’s hand after he broke two “tackles” and ran into the end zone.
Oh the Pro Bowl…
SUPER BOWL
XLV
Pittsburgh vs Green Bay
You know how I feel about these two teams. I’ll be rooting for Green Bay on Sunday!
I don’t want to be snarky (shocker I know) so I’m just going to leave it at that. I really think the Packers will win and I’m not just saying that because I dislike Pittsburgh’s QB immensely. It’s Green Bay’s turn to win the Super Bowl. Enough said.
For those of you who may not know...Kick off is scheduled for 6:29pm Sunday February 6, 2011. You can catch the game on the FOX network and if you’d like to watch any pre-game coverage that starts at 2pm on FOX. If you’d like even more pre-game coverage catch it on ESPN from 10am to 2pm.
The Black Eyed Peas will be performing the half time show so that’s something to look forward to… at least its not THE WHO…. Most likely this will be the time when everyone gets up to use the restroom. I mean between the game and the legendary commercials when is there time to get up for a bathroom break?
Anyway, enjoy the game, enjoy the commercials, and cross your fingers that there will be football next year without a lockout….
GO GREEN BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
